I love the staff, but I feel like because its a corporation I don't get the care for my pets that I should. I pay monthly for the wellness plan and its nice to an extent but its extremely hard to get an appointment and the only ones you really can get is a drop off. If you have some sort of minor emergency you have to take your animal to a different vet. I feel like the only thing Banfield is good for is regular check ups and vaccines.

Loved Banfield. The team was so helpful and supportive when bringing my cat in. Vet took the time to talk to me. Even though my cat passed away, the team made sure to send me a card with everyone’s signature recognizing my loss. It was unexpected, but such a sweet gesture.

We love Banfield and the doctors we've seen over the last 17 years but the staff has ALWAYS been very unprofessional in Hampton Roads. To the extent we got a new clinic for preventive care. Unfortunately, we tried to come back and realized nothing has changed. I called to schedule an appointment for my dog.Kayla answers the phone laughing and finishing a private convo with another staff member. She finally acknowledged me & said her greeting. I explain that I'm trying to get the 1st available appointment scheduled. She proceeded to ask several questions and details of symptoms etc for several minutes & says " you should take him to his doctor or an ER". I advise her that has been scheduled already for tonight but I'm hoping you had something sooner. To my shock she says, "what I'm telling you is we don't have any appointments. " What?! Why waste my time? The first thing I said to you was I'm calling to schedule an appointment for today. She knew then that couldn't be fulfilled so why the inquisition? At least she seemed amused with my frustration. Banfield this is where we part.

I love Banfield. They are awesome with animals. So loving and caring. They make you feel that you pet is in best hands. The best doctor in the newport news va location is Dr. Struble. She communicates well about any issues with your pet. She always asks do you have any questions or concern. Dr. Struble is so loving and caring. She has the best experience in her field. If you want an honest and loving Dr..ask for Dr. Struble. She is the best in 757 area.

My dog has been a patient here for the last couple of years. While the vet's are geat-the assistants and service staff leave a lot to be desired. This morning I called to schedule an appointment for my dog because I believe that he has an eye infection. Someone answered the phone very rudely and I was then put on hold. When she finally came back onto the line I was told that my dog could not be seen for 3 weeks (en eye infection can be serious and lead to blindness, mind you) and she did not seem to care or act the least bit empathetic. As I've said, I am not totally surprised because the staff outside of the vets are generally very unpleasant, however, I felt this needed to be shared so that other people can be aware and know what to expect when they go into the clinic.

Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They have always done a great job with my dog and I'm very particular. Would definitely recommend to those in the area for a furbaby Cat or dog

They are not good if your pets are sick. They never have appointments for illnesses that need urgent attention. They refer you to local Emergency vet.

Receptionist was rude and unprofessional. I was told my appointment was not for another 30 minutes when I clearly scheduled it for a time and had two text messages reminding me of the time I had scheduled. She blew me off and said if the 4 o'clock appointment doesn't show maybe we can see you sooner. She stated there was an issue with the online versus their PC's. What is the point of making an appointment to then be told it's wrong. She ignored me when it was time to check out, brought me the wrong flea treatment and another individual had to check me out. The individual helping me even made a statement she thought I would have already been checked out. Horrible service!

I am forced to do drop off because they never have availability except for months out. My son has anxiety and does not like to be left there. They hardly make time for anything. Your visits will always be over a month out and most of the time you can only do drop off, even though they stated that after I told them he has anxiety and shouldn’t be dropped of that he should have me with him and then never allow it! I will switch vets when my sons insurance is up. I have been with them 4 plus years and I recommended them to my mom who got a puppy last year and they have treated her the same way. I am not happy with the service. I used to be able to go into the vet with him. Even before Covid they were getting so behind and everything was months behind. They need to hire more people to keep up with their customers and our fur babies.

Was looking forward for new Veterinarian for my dog. As soon as I got there I was ignored and left alone. And when I finally had a word with someone they simply turned around and another person came screaming on top of her lungs saying I had a voice-mail and call from them to confirm appointment that never happen. SO NO I DONT RECOMMEND NO ONE COMING HERE at all!!! Poor service and customer care.

Set up appointment a month prior and when I arrive the day of with my dog, they claim I was "unresponsive" to call and voicemail so they automatically filled my slot with someone else, a slot which I paid for prior online when trying to start insurance with them! Then when I arrived the receptionist I spoke to was rude and just walked away without saying anything to get another receptionist who was even more rude! Almost accusing me of lying about not receiving the call or voicemail. When I asked if it was going to be awhole month again for an appointment, she annoyingly huffed before proceeding to tell me which dates were available. So unprofessional and rude, and this was my first time here ATTEMPTING to switch my dog over to them, but now will definitely not be! DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE unless you want to be greeted with poor services.

If I could give zero stars...I would. I thought a long time before posting my review. But, I feel that it is necessary. I want to prevent others from having the same experience as me. First and foremost, I want to say that I have had very good experiences with the Hampton and Williamsburg Offices. Overall, Banfield is a great organization. But, I would not recommend the Newport News office. In the past year, I lost a dog and cat due to the lack of a thorough examination. My dog came in for a wellness check in May. The Veterinarian spoke to me for maybe two minutes. The exam lasted maybe 10 minutes. My dog had a NEW diagnosis of a heart murmur. I asked if I need to see a specialist. She stated, "well if you want her teeth cleaned." She never offered to help with a referral. She seemed extremely rushed and frustrated. She rushed me and I was unable to get all my questions answered. To make a very long and sad story short, I took matters in my own hands. I had a second and third opinion done. The Banfield Newport News Veterinarian failed to put her on medication for the heart murmur and staged the murmur wrong. I also found out the specialist comes to the Newport News office! That was never offered. In short, my dog passed away...within a month of the "wellness visit." My cat had the same experience. Her heart failure was not detected...it was obvious and had been going on for a long time...she passed as well. The Emergency Veterinarian was astounded at both cases...the lack of diagnosis, medications and a plan for treatment! When I let the office know of their deaths. The receptionist stated, "Oh ...well." I never received any condolences until I sent in a complaint to the corporate office. They also cancel appointments. I receive notifications that I canceled the appointment...I never did! I received one just this week! I never made or canceled an appointment for my cat. Also, the office manager is extremely rude and unprofessional. They miss vaccines during wellness visits as well. Be sure to check your records prior to leaving! Also, I have had to follow up several times regarding heartworm/flea prevention for one of my cats. The office manager stated, "I don't have you down for that. " I let him know that I discussed it on my wellness visit with the tech." He stated, "again; I don't have you down for that." I just laughed and stated, "why on God's green earth would I treat 2 other cats and not treat the third?" I received no response or medication. Again, I had to take matters in my own hands to receive the prevention. The problem is simple. The office has two many clients. The Veterinarians are worried about their daily revenue instead of spending times with their clients and giving thorough assessments. If I had to guess; they are over booked, stressed and tired. I don't put the blame entirely on them. The problem is larger than that. The Newport News location is chaos always. Another concern is is that ; I asked to simply be let go of the three other wellness plans my other pets have...I have lost all confidence in the Newport News office. I have yet to be released. Instead, they want to give me run around and stated that "I must have a phone call with the lead Veterinarian." These two events were so traumatic and sudden. Why put me through that! Let me go...so, I can move on and go to a Veterinarian that I can trust. Instead, they want me to drive 30-50 minutes away...so, they can keep me on the 3 other plans that I currently have... It is all about the money. Nothing will bring Stella or Delta back. The least they could do is have a little compassion and let me move on. I hope to God that no one else has this experience. I would recommend going to a smaller Banfield where the customer (the animal) matters. On top of everything else in 2020...I had to deal with loosing two of my best friends unnecessarily.

Its my first time here coming to Banfield in Newport News. I usually go to Hampton. I came here to drop off my 5 week old puppy. I was told by the lady that checked us in that the wait would be 10-15 minutes. I thought Great! I can walk around for the time being. I got tired so I sat on the bench and waited. Another lady was a bit rude and stated that its gonna be a couple of hours and they will give me a call. I didn't mind waiting for a few hours so I stayed.. Then she also stated I should wait in the car because COVID-19/safely reasons ???? I understand but for being impolite made me feel unhappy and uncomfortable with the service plus the timing for pick up is unprofessional because I was told two different things. I don't think I will be back here.
