We are so frustrated. Our dog has been dealing with toe issues for months now, and has been in a lot of discomfort and pain. Finally they decided he needed an amputation, we were scheduled this morning for his surgery after waiting over a month to get him in. My partner and I both took time off of work for this surgery and were called 10 minutes prior while we were sitting in the parking lot to be told they were cancelling and did not know when they would be able to get him in. We understand things come up sometimes, but to be told that they are cancelling and do not know when they will be able to see him because they are really booked while my dog is sitting in my backseat in pain AND we have already been waiting so long and planned time off of work for this is extremely disappointing. We are at a loss on what to do for our sweet boy, we hate seeing him constantly limping around and crying if anything accidently touches his foot.

Not good with follow up calls for sick animals. Don't answer phones.

On December 2, 2021, I called to schedule an appointment to have my 2 dogs Bordetella shots updated so that we could board them for the Christmas holiday. On the call I was told they were going to add a heartworm test to their chart for the visit. I told them I was not interested in that test that it was unnecessary. I was told they were going to put it on the chart anyways and we would discuss it when I came to the visit. On December, 13 2021 my wife ended up having to take the dogs instead of me, I let her know not to let them do the heart worm test. When the vet techs came out to get the dogs they asked about the heart worm test and my wife told them " I don think they need that" indicating she did not want them to do the test. the dogs where then taken from the car inside one at a time. My wife was told to remain in the car, at this time the dogs were out of view and no opportunity to know what was happening to them was afforded, and no ability to interject on an unwanted service was available. They produced an invoice for both dogs which my wife payed. Upon review of the invoice when I got home I notice a $64 charge on each invoice for something I did not recognize. " 4Dx Plus Snap" was listed on both invoices at "$64.81" for a total of $129.62. After googling what it was I discovered that it was the Heart worm test they were told we did not want. The Bordetella shot that was the only authorized treatment for the dogs should only have cost a total of $42 for both dogs. This unwanted procedure increased our bill to almost $200 right before Christmas. This incident feels very practiced and intentionally predatory. After attempting to speak with Jacksonville Veterinary Hospital I was giving nothing but excuses and "I cant help you". This Business has stolen $130 from us less than 2 weeks before Christmas.

Last week my cat was having some health problems, I called and even though they didn’t have any appointments they offered to do a walk in! They saw him pretty quickly and got us meds! Well today it got worse and they worked us in again as a walk in. All of the staff here are super friendly and nice and I appreciate it so much that they saw our pet quickly to help him even though they are super busy and I’m sure short staffed. It gives us piece of mind to know we have a vet office that cares and does their best!!! Thank you!

What an experience we had from start to finish! Considering we arrived within an hour of closing and there was another emergency, Dr. Weaver and Taylor stayed well past closing time to ensure our Winsome got the care he needed. We cannot thank the staff enough for saving us time and money. (And our doggo) You can tell these people really care about their patients/babies!!!

First off the staff and vet are great here. BUT...be prepared for your appointments to take a good 2+ hours of your day. Literally every single appointment we have had here has never been on time. Not once. (I realized this was a problem last time we were stationed here too). We are waiting 30-45 minutes for our appointment and people AFTER us are going in and out during that time which is beyond frustrating. Today I called to check in at our appointment time and the phone rang for over 7 minutes with no answer, so I finally went in. Our appointment today was 30 minutes late. Sometimes I call and tell them I've been waiting here for ages and they're always busy. I understand giving every pet and owner time and care, but at least make appointment blocks longer if you're going take over 30 minutes before you can even bring the pet back, or call and say you're running behind. Once or twice ok, but every single time this happens and it has us tempted just to drive up to Virginia to our old vet. The vet and staff are kind and helpful which is why we keep coming but today's appointment took over 90 minutes. Please be better about this.

So we sat in the parking lot well past our appointment time which didn’t really kid we kinda overlooked it because When they first came out they were really nice. The vet herself was very considerate and caring however the assistant “Hannah” there was extremely rude towards us.Very caring towards our dog but was rude and inconsiderate and “rolled her eyes” when we tried to explain how our dog was. We told her we needed to put a muzzle on him and she had Decided to put her face towards his mouth. The vet came out and apologized which was very professional however she was not in the wrong and needed not to come out. Only one person here would make it worth coming back.other then that. No.

JVH was very thorough and accommodating during a very difficult time. We brought our girl in for swelling in her hind leg and both Dr. Weaver and Dr. Thomas ran several tests to try and figure out the cause behind it. When she got worse and it was clear that she couldn’t wait for her follow up, they worked her In so that she didn’t have to continue suffering until her next appointment. When it became apparent that the issue was more than their facility could handle, they pointed us in the right direction, and communicated with the other facility in order to make sure that they knew the gravity of our situation. When we found out that our girl had cancer and we’re given two different readings on a chest X-ray, Dr. Thomas went the extra mile and examined the X-ray and confirmed the unfortunate prognosis. When our options were laid before us and we were unsure with how to proceed Dr. Thomas offered clarity and in the end when it became clear that our girl’s life was coming to an end she ensured that her last days were as pain free as possible. While JVH was unable to save our girl, they went above and beyond for her and for us and we will be forever grateful to have been in such great hands during such and awful time.

BEWARE of this place. Plenty of caring vets around in Onslow/Pender/Carteret counties but this place isn't one if them. Your sweet loyal pets deserve the best! (They also own College View Vet Clinic). We came from out of state from a wonderful vet, a REAL vet who loves all animals like his own We've since thankfully moved back home where we have our great vet. PLEASE Please do your homework before trusting the lives and well being of your dogs n cats to this place. We learned the hard way. ????

I have been going to Jacksonville vet hospital for 3 years since my husband was stationed here as a marine! We love Jacksonville animal hospital and it all started with Sue!!! She is absolutely amazing and loves animals and the care of animals more than I could say. She has become a friend of my family which is just my 2 frenchies, my husband and myself. Therefore, I can’t reiterate enough how important our babies are to us. Sue has always been there to help us in any way to transition our frenchies to a new place. One of ours passed while living here last year from pancreatic cancer and I thought I was going to lose me too, but Sue was there! She called me and personally wanted to know what she could do! After we bought the new addition, General Mattis, Sue was there with open arms to welcome him! Dr Thomas made a special trip in our exam room when she didn’t have to just to see the new baby! They have been seeing Dr Weaver and what an amazing vet she is !!!! Thank you all for taking care of my babies and Sue no matter where we are stationed you my dear our part of our family forever!!!! If I could give zero stars I would. Finally thought I found a promising vet but apparently i was wrong. I sat in the parking lot for 2 HOURS and had to go inside to see why they hadn't come out to us yet. My appointment was at 10 but they were taking people who showed up at 11 before I walked in. I was told the day before that it would be $42. They finally came out to me telling me it would be $292 for him to be seen cause he is "sick" . They wouldn't know if he was sick cause no one at this vet seen him. Which he had been to another vet a week prior and was not sick. I walked in to a assistant laughing about me going to find another vet. This place is so unprofessional. If you can go anywhere definitely do it. Reply to owner: my puppy was coming to to have a weight check. I disclosed all info on him when setting up the visits and even got the paper work from the other vet sent over. Yall are stating my puppy was in a sickly state but at his wet prior visit he was fine other than a dog bit. Not once did anyone in your office lay eyes on my puppy so I'd love to know why yall think he was so sickly. I have reached out to you via phone call waiting for a call back. Again. I'd love to know where yall got that my puppy was so sickly seeing yall never gave him a check. Yall ordered test before even seeing him. How can I make you aware of him being sick when he wasn't sick just underweight from the home he was in before. **update** review will not be changed. They never gave me a call back to answer how they came to the conclusion that my puppy was sick. Unprofessional business who just wants your money. Don't let them get over on you because they will try.

I can’t say enough good things about Candice and her team. My old guy Diesel broke his fingernail this morning, he was limping and whining so I wanted to get him seen as soon as possible. I called our regular vet just to be told a broken fingernail wasn’t an emergency and they wouldn’t see him until next week. When I called Jacksonville Veterinary Hospital, I spoke with Sue and she took my concerns seriously and worked me in to see Candice as a walk in. It was a great experience from the get go, I have never felt more comfortable taking my boy to the vet. Everyone that we worked with today was patient and so good with him. They will be our regular vet going forward, and I will recommend them to anyone who asks.

I've been to them twice this week for an appointment and still have yet to be seen, Monday I went to college view for an 11am appt and sat in the car until 1220 while I watched others who came after I was there and be seen, today I had a 1230 appt at Jacksonville vet hospital and stayed in the car until 114 after watching 2 people be seen that showed up after myself

I really liked this vet at first. I felt like they treated my animals well and actually cared. But, lately I've been getting very rude responses when I call them. Recently my dog has been having some stomach issues, so I called them to find out what I should do. While I was explaining the situation to the woman I was on the phone with, she cut me off saying that there were no appointment slots available. Thats fine, all I wanted to know is if there was anything I could do at home to help my dog feel a little better. When I asked this she said, "No, take your dog somewhere." I understand that I should probably just make an appointment with another vet, but I just feel like she could've been a bit more helpful and not so rude. This is not the first instance of rude responses I've gotten from them, so I will no longer be taking my animals here.

I had an appointment for my dog. I showed up and checked in 20 minutes prior to my appointment. After waiting over an hour I called again to see how much longer the wait would be and I was told that my appointment time was double book. However during my waiting period another car pulled up had been in the lot for maybe 10 minutes and someone came out to get their dog.

The nurses and Dr. Thomas were so sweet to my little boy. He was eating up all of the attention and the treats he was given and we will definitely be coming back! Dr. Thomas was able to answer all of my questions and then some and then the nurse came back in and reiterated everything to me just so I knew I heard it correctly the first time (I needed it) and then they also gave us some free samples for heart worm meds that is definitely needed in this state. I was a little nervous because I had read previous reviews and I can honestly say, I disagree. They genuinely showed that they cared about Bubba and I know he was feeling cared for. He wouldn't leave the door because he knew that the nice lady with the yummy treats was on the other side! I would recommend coming here to anyone and everyone that needs a good vet that cares to help your fur baby. (Also I feel like everything was reasonably priced. I was thinking the visit and medication that he was going to be prescribed would make it around $300 which is about what it would be back in PA where my families vet is, I was very surprised and happy that I wasn't going to break my bank trying to get Bubba the care he needed.)

So, as much as I really love the vet here and they treat my dogs very well, it gets exhausting each time I call being treated very rudely when I ask questions about the care and health of my dogs. I have been coming here for a year now, and while COVID has restricted us from entering with our animals it been very tough on the owners too. I would definitely give it five stars if it weren’t for how rude people like Sue, can be when answering the phone. I have very few concerns and questions about my animals and she has seemed to not pay much mind to it and try to rush me off the phone. But I digress. Wonderful vet, and mostly great staff.

They have always been friendly and professional at this location, but they're terrible at following up. I visited the clinic to get a referral for my dog to get a MRI/surgery consult because I already knew he had torn something in his leg from the emergency clinic. Between this clinic and the emergency clinic in Jacksonville, I wasted almost $500 on visits to get information I already knew. Had they followed up like they said they would, it may have been worth it; here I am almost two weeks later with no follow up.
