Brought our bearded dragon for a possible respiratory infection. Spent over $300 for the check-up & antibiotics, we made a follow-up appointment that day for 1 week. The day OF the follow-up (Saturday) they call to cancel stating the same doctor wasn’t available that initially saw him. I voiced that he still was not doing better, not eating and wheezing intermittently. We were rescheduled for Monday at 5:15 pm. My bearded dragon died Sunday night. Extremely disappointed with service received here.

Asked multiple times whether the reaction my cat was having was an allergy to a new medication. The vet would not speak to me directly, relaying messages through frontline staff stating in no way was this an allergic reaction. Thankfully, I sought another opinion. This was indeed an allergic reaction.

Never worked with Banfield for anything other than today when I tried to get my dogs rx dog food. Go inside to the business to get anything done. Lady behind the counter was helpful. Over the phone, it was difficult to get anything done.

They are not very friendly and it is extremely difficult to get appointments. My dog has a wellness plan with them that covers preventive care and unlimited office visits. My dog’s eye is acting up and they said they can’t fit him in this week and the next available option was June. What if that causes more serious issues? They are very unprofessional, lack due diligence , and do not care about your pets at all. All they say, go to the referral place. What’s the point of having a specific vet for your pet? All the previous vets I’ve had all over the country were always flexible if some issues that needed attention arise, but they are not flexible at all and don’t care about the health of your animal.

My calico kitteh and I had the easiest visit to date with veterinarian Erin Struble at this location. She is kind, gentle but efficient, and very understanding of cats with spicy personalities. I will be scheduling our visits with her from now on. I highly recommend her to any pet parent, especially those with cats.

We took our unwell 4 year old cairn terrier to the Banfield located in Hampton, VA. Upon further worsening of his symptoms, it was clear that the staff at Banfield neglected our puppy while he was in their “care” or lack thereof. Upon the first visit we were sent home with a note of a bland diet and slew of medications. We were told that if he was not any better in two days, then we would need to bring him back in to be seen. He only got worse, so of course, we brought him back into Banfield, per the doctors orders. We dropped him off at 10:30AM and since we didn’t hear anything, I called around 1 to check-in and I was told by the front desk receptionist, Sam, that “he was doing great and the doctor would call back with results.” My wife and I were adamant that our dog needed to be placed on IV fluids, they refused to listen and dismissed our request. Hours pass and we get a call around 4:30PM - there were no results - lab work was never done. We rush to get in before Banfield closes to pick him up, the staff insists that he swallowed something and there was an obstruction - Dr. Christine Shuping kept saying “I won’t cut him open tonight” and once again, appeared to be extremely negligent in the treatment of our dog. We rushed our dog to the ER, The Cove, later that evening where he stayed overnight and WAS administered IV fluids. Upon further testing, they said he was severely dehydrated and had a gallbladder infection NOT an obstruction like the clinical care team at Banfield kept insisting. Ultimately, after being seen by a specialist, we had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to our pup. I regret taking him to Banfield and not having the chance to spend one more day with him. They just had him locked in a kennel without fluids or proper treatment.

I would never use the pet insurance again. Lost my dog was paying for there insurance for years. They said I had to continue paying for the last services they provided, all well and good but when the final payment was taken they continued to withdraw from my account knowing the bil was paid. Said it was my responsibility to call them to stop the payment and would only refund me one payment instead of the two they took out before I caught it. Shame on them.

I’ve used Banfield’s wellness plan because of the value, just with the heartworm pills (included in the plan) I’d spend the same annual money but on top I’d get 2 comprehensive exams, vaccines, blood and fecal exams. In 8 years I never had a problem, my dog is healthy and eats human foods (mostly carnivore as they are meant to be). Last week I visited the hospital with the concern of a persistent diarrhea and some vomiting 3 weeks after going to the beach. Initially I thought it was the salty water, then I decided for a hospital visit to rule out Giardia or some other parasite or bacteria. I dropped off my dog, came back later, payed $300 and was told I would receive my results in the next few days (blood and fecal analyses), that my dog had small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, and they prescribed me empiric Abx (metronidazole, which covers most single cell parasites and anaerobic bacteria), and they also said he has otitis and offered some expensive and fancy treatment, which I didn’t take. A week later his ears are fine without any treatment, the metronidazole acted as expected (very cheap Abx), and they don’t have any results... When I call to claim they say the results are ok, nothing was detected except the SIBO (which can’t be diagnosed this way and was their initial differential diagnose). I have a strong feeling that they didn’t even test him. I know for sure I’ve been deceived as a lot of people must have been in this place. Same as with healthcare, this is a black market without rules and lack of control. Good luck finding a reliable vet, this is definitively not one.

Had to wait 2 weeks for new pet exam which was fine...no problem. I repeatedly stated "I will be w/him" on his appointment duringthe call. Got reminder call 2 days in advance to confirm for a "drop off". I said DROP OFF?! I told them I wasn't dropping off my kitten to a place he's never been with strangers plus I've never seen nor met the staff. She put me on hold. When she returned, she pushed the appointment out anther THREE WEEKS which is unacceptable. If they're not reliable enough to schedule an appointment CORRECTLY, why should I or we trust them with out fur barbies. She referred to me as "owner". I quickly corrected her by saying "PET PARENT".

We had a bad experience with a female doctor. Horrible bedside manner. For wellness checks they are ok but they are certainly all about the money. My cat broke his leg. Turns out he has a genetic disorder. The doctor treated us like we hurt our cat which made the experience even more traumatic. We will be switching to another Banfield because we are locked into the wellness plan till the end of the year. After that I will never use Banfield again. Stay away from this "vet mill".

What a great vet! Dr. Ramirez is wonderful as well as Dr. Shuping and Dr. Bloxom. My pets have seen them all and they are wonderful. The techs are also friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

Took my pup in for a UTI. They were wonderful with her. They are not letting people go back with animals right now because of Covid, but they kept me informed.

1st time visiting this place for a dog appointment. The Lady at the check-in desk I was told her name was Liz she had no name tag on her but she was disrespectful & smart mouth. I felt very unwelcome here. It's a shame there very nice over phone but different attitude in person.

This Banfield hospital is just like family to your pets. If you want the best quality service and warmth for pet go to this Banfield you want regret it. Best veterinarian is Dr. Struble. She is the best rank vet in the 757 area. She explain everything and answer your questions honestly and will also do what is in the best interests for your pet.

My 3 fur babies are going Banfield Pet Hospital for their whole life but multiple locations since we are a military family. They were all ok but Dr.Ramiraz in Hampton!! She is an amazing Dr. She had saved my baby Azuki’s life , one of the Dr who genuinely loves the animals, takes her time to explain, talks to you in person.I wish I can take her with us to our new place to move! Thank you Dr.Ramiraz.

I reached out initially for more information, and I must say the response was nothing short of amazing. Several different folks followed up with me making sure that any questions I had were answered. They also made sure I understood the full scope of what the offer including pricing and details.

I always feel like they care for our pet and do a good job. My only negative opinion is sometimes it is hard to get an appoiment in a short period of time for crop up problems.
