I have taken my furbabies to Hickory Veterinary Hospital forever. They have always received the best care possible. Everyone has been kind, caring, compassionate and professional. They are the best! ????

I was desperately looking for an appointment at last minute. This was the only vet clinic available in Chesapeake for today. I had the best experience taking my puppy there. Very professional and friendly. I highly recommend this place. We will be back soon!! Thank you so much for taking good care of our animals!

I'm so happy I found this Vet when I moved to Chesapeake last year. They are all so kind, and you can tell they love the animals they care for. When it was time to say goodbye to our sweet dog. Shadow they couldn't have been kinder. I highly recommend this animal hospital.

I can not express the gratitude and comfort I feel with this amazing veterinary clinic! There are so many appreciative comments to make, such as... 1- They were able to give me an appointment the very next day for my newly acquired bearded dragon and the necrotic tip of its tail! **I need to add that I was not a client at the time AND as I was blessed with caring for this little creature, my knowledge of, well any reptile, was ZERO????** 2- I was late due to my directionally challenged self ????‍???? yet they were very understanding and I was able to keep my appointment! 3- I mentioned my complete lack of knowledge of the bearded dragon species and this unbelievable group spent TWO HOURS educating me on everything I need to know to properly care for this crazy ????! I have somehow fallen in love with him and came to understand all of the details required to not only keep him happy but most importantly alive!! 2 hours???????? They shine on the true care and dedication of the animal and not the ????. A true rarity today! They were so kind! And informative! And gentle with my new little love and with me being a first time reptile owner! I truly have so much gratitude and will be a forever client for all of my animals!!

I want to this opportunity to thank you so much for the kindness you showed me and Gaby. Thank you for going over every single detail with me and loving her like I do. We received the worst possible news ever that I was 100% not prepared for but it was done with grace and kindness. Thank you for being available for all my questions and concerns. Although Gaby won’t be a patient long, you are my vet for all my babies to come!

Wonderful, clean clinic with super great staff that was willing to squeeze in an out of town dog. If I lived in this area, they would be my go to veterinarian!

Sent my husband with our two lil 10 week old puppies. He came back with what we in human health call "NPS" New Parent Syndrome, haha The Doctor and the staff were very helpful and provided plenty of care options and guidance. He was sent home with everything that could be considered to care for these little special girls. I am so grateful for their time, energy, and effort. I have lots of printed education guidance to review, they received their vaccines and follow up appointment. They also have been started on heart worm and flea prevention. I can tell he felt confident with the the care these pups received and understood the plan of care going forward. Overall I am certain we have some wonderful people in our lives to help us do things right. Thanks so very much!!

Always welcomed by the friendly receptionists when you walk in. The medical team is friendly, helpful and professional. Dr. Redding and Dr. Hancock are amazing and very compassionate with all my fur babies. I’ve never boarded any of my pets there but my friends tell me their animals are well taken care of. Everyone there that I have interacted with are always very helpful and they definitely show they care about the animals that come in and their clients! Love this place and wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Dr. Klemm is the best vet in the 757, but the management style and practices of some of the other vets and vet techs leaves something to be desired. When I go to Hickory, I make sure I can see Dr. Klemm, or I do not go.

I always get the most honest feedback. I am given explanation for why certain things should or should not be performed. I feel I get an education about my babies while I am there. They performed miracle that I did not think were possible. They clipped my pit bull’s nails. Two of my pits refuse to let me trim their nails, and they were able to do it for me which I truly did not think would be possible without sedation and they did it without muzzles. I also need to have one of them get a small surgery to remove a lump and a broken tooth. I have come here for years with many of my fur babies and I always recommend them! Always professional and knowledgeable.

Everyone was super nice since the moment i stepped through the front door. they also handled my little kitty pungo with care and showed him a bunch of love. i left feeling like i fully knew how to proceed with his treatment and had all my questions answered. i felt like the whole staff was truly listening to my concerns. great experience, great prices, great staff!

The best vet I have ever been to! I have a German Shepherd and they treated him like pure gold. We’ve had problems with his belly since we got him and we were able to come up with a plan from the very first visit. I’m just so happy with the care we received. I can’t say it enough. Extremely thorough and even called to check on his progress a few days after. If you’re looking for a caring vet for your fur babies you won’t be disappointed!!!

I noticed my water dragon was not acting right and seemed bloated. I called Hickory veterinary hospital. They were able to get me in the same day. They took great care of Zilly and answered all of my questions and concerns. I would definitely recommend them to everyone.

Frustrated.... I have a three month old puppy who was originally seen at Hickory. Set an appointment for follow up shots. This is what they do. They know the timeframes involved. And yet when I show up for today's appointment, I'm told that she would need to start her shot over because yesterday was the last day to receive her booster. Front desk people were very nice and professional. Vet tech was very informative and attentive. But this should not have happened.

Dr. Klemm is a wonderful, down to earth vet, who puts you and your fur baby at ease the moment he walks in the room. My dogs have all been too big to put on a table, Dr. Klemm gets right down on the ground with them. He has always been straightforward when giving a diagnosis and truly listens. His encouragement gave me almost two more happy, healthy years with my Golden Retriever Tucker. I will be forever grateful.

I’m REALLY disappointed in the service my dog and I received at Hickory Veterinary Hospital today. I took my two Mini Poodles in yesterday afternoon to update their shots. I was charged $609 for both dogs, which is really steep. After getting home one of my pups was limping. He can’t go up the stairs, he can’t jump on the bed, he can’t get on the couch, he can’t sit, and whimpers in pain when touched and sometimes even while laying down. I called the office right away but they had closed for the day. I called again first thing this morning. The staff said the vet would prescribe pain medicine and she would call me back for pick up. All day passed by, I followed up multiple times and did not hear back. At 6:20 pm I received a call from the staff to let me know that I can pick up the pain medicine tomorrow because they are closed for the day. I explained that my dog is in a lot of pain and I was then transferred to the office manager (Gayle). Gayle explained that their registers were closed and there was no way to ring me up for the medication. I offered to pay cash and also suggested they could let me pick up the medicine and call me tomorrow for payment since it’s under $20. I was placed on a long hold. Gayle came back on the phone and asked me how long it would take for me to get there. I responded that it would take me roughly 20 min depending on traffic and I could leave right then. A long silent pause followed and I was then told to pick up the medicine tomorrow morning. I’m highly upset because they were very quick to charge me $609 yesterday and as a result of their care, my dog is in pain. Things like this happen, I understand. But what I am mad about is that they did not care about my dog being in pain and did not get back to me during business hours. They were ok with making my dog go through another night in pain because of their poor service. 20 minutes was too much of an inconvenience. I don’t think they really care about animals, I think they care more about the $$$. I will not be going back.

By far and away, Dr. Redding is one of the best vets I have been around. You will get up front and honest evaluations. The technicians are friendly and helpful. I always recommended this clinic to everyone I know. We take six family critters to them and when we have more, they will go there too!
