This place is INCREDIBLE! Everyone there is always friendly. They call the next day after each visit to check up and make sure my little dude is doing well. I have been going here for over 4 years and I have never had a bad experience. My first cat unfortunately got diagnosed with cancer when he was only 4.5 years old. This was a truly heartbreaking experience as he was my emotional support animal that got me through several very traumatic experiences. When Dr. Barker gave us the diagnosis, she was very transparent and didn't try to sugar coat anything, but she was also very compassionate and caring. I now have another cat so, of course, it is a no-brainer that we are back. For the review mentioning the prices going up, this is nothing new with businesses. This happens with EVERY business as they have to keep up with the economy. This is especially true with the pandemic. If they don't raise some prices, they cannot stay in business. This is an incredible veterinarian. You cannot go wrong with them.

We absolutely loved this vet. But until recently (past year) they took on too many patients for what they could adequately handle and failing to give quality care. Instead of quality they are invested in quantity. We use to be able to get same day sick appts, super friendly staff to work with us, going out of their way to assist us. Almost 5 years dedicated to this vet and now my animal is just a number, the front desk know nothing, they kindly refuse to even ask a tech a question for help, tell us they are new to the area or try other vets. Again my pet has only been seen there for 5 years and that’s the treatment we get. When sick they want her to wait days to a week to be seen. I never leave reviews like this and it took me a full year to finally say enough.

They're the best vet that we have tried so far. Suzy is a rescue and she's terrified of everything Literally. Dr. Barker has been nothing but patient with Suzy. They do Victorian package which you can take your dog in for a visit without any medical stuff beside sitting there, gaining her trust by all the yummy treat. Suzy goes at least once every week or 2 depend on my schedule. And she slowly knows this as "the chicken place." My other dog absolutely loves this vet. As long as they have chicken, they can do anything with her. And the best part is procedures are done in her room, not taking my dogs to the back and adding stress to them.

They are a no fear vet which is great for the dogs. Front desk staff is a mixed bag. Some are seriously rude and others are ok. There is always a large tab at the end. One doctor says one thing such as well prolly not a UTI as it is all RBC let's get that over 200 xray... the follow up and a different dr... oh the last ua showed half WBC and half RBC ... completely different stories... but you shell out the money cuz its your furbaby. Update. They never got back to me with the second set of tests. My sweet Casper died. Pathetic excuse for a veterinarian.

I cannot say enough. I trust my dogs life in their hands as dramatic as it sounds. Some People advertise to be “fear free” but my Baby always come out tummy full of treats As happy as a clam. This team really knows how to take care of my baby! Winston loves them all! (This was his first visit ) ❤️

I have been a customer of Barker Animal Hospital for a number of years. I love Dr. Oswald. She is very personable and great with our cats. This comment in no way reflects her service. Today, I took my cat in for a follow up appointment and had her nails trimmed. When I was leaving, I asked for the itemized bill to be emailed. Later, I looked at the bill and saw that I was charged $35 for a pedicure. I was confident this was a mistake. I’ve taken the same cat to this facility for years and the nail trim was never more than $20. When I called the front desk, the associate stated that all of the prices had gone up “a few dollars” recently. A few dollars???? The price almost doubled and no one ever said anything about the prices going up. Disappointed.

my experiences in that clinic were very bad, the care is very cold and bad treatment, the only thing that interests them is money. After three years of being clients, they threw me out because I simply asked why they charged me so expensive for services arbitrarily without asking if I agree or not with the treatment, it was never satisfactory or pleasant to go to that place, the only thing they are interested in is the money and they do not honor the great profession of being veterinarians, nor respect the love that people have for our pets, money, money, money and if you do not agree they will throw you out and you are to blame for what happened. you really love your pet don't go there. Surely now they are going to write a response saying thank you very much for your review and apologies for what happened, everything is part of the great lie in social media, deceiving people without caring about human principles, only money, I do not recommend anyone who loves their pets this cold and vile place.

I wish that Dr. Barker and Dr. Perkins were people doctors because I would go to them! Very talented and caring Vets. Super good at diagnosing your fur baby’s problem. I have a 13 year old cat who has been quite the challenge health wise and they have always gotten to the bottom of the problem and figured out a plan. In addition to this, their animal hospital is so well run. They figured out the COVID situation and solutions to it very quickly and efficiently. Everyone who works in their animal hospital is extremely friendly and polite. It is always a pleasure to go there. One last thing…their hours are better than any other local Vet. Give them a try, you won’t be sorry.

When I find a small business, I really like it. I love to promote them. This time it's Barker Animal Hospital. I hated my dog's old vet, so anytime I had to take her, it was a chore. My mom recommended Barker because she's been taking her dogs there, and they have a Wellness Program where you pay monthly (billed monthly for 12 months) and get provided a bunch of services for your dog (unlimited exams, shots, teeth cleaning, nails, testing, etc., etc. - seriously it's a lot of good services). I was always resistant to taking my dog to the vet unless I really needed to because vet bills can become really expensive, even for a checkup. Many of Barker's services are proactive to keep your dog safe and healthy, and you can get unlimited visits if you need them. I wish I would have gone to them earlier so I could have prevented some teeth issues I'm having with my dog right now, but at least now I have a good vet that I can trust and love going to. Bottom line, if you're like me and hated taking your dog to the vet because it's can become really expensive, I really recommend signing up with their monthly service.

Where do I even begin! The staff and doctors at Barker Animal Hospital went above and beyond for my sweet boy this weekend. He suddenly was extremely ill and they they were not only able to see him in for an appointment last minute, but also squeezed him in for exploratory surgery the next day. My pup is now healing comfortably at home thanks to Dr. Oswald, Dr. Barker, the client coordinators, assistants and technicians. Y’all are absolutely the best! So many thanks from Kevin, myself and my garbage disposal - Jago ❤️????????

Had to call mutiple time to get an answer. I told them my dog was really injured they told me they are not seeing new clients. Wasn't very sensitive and we're rude and disrespectful on the phone.wanted to try out but if this is how they act when a dog's actually injured I'm definitely not going there for any wellness checks for my dog.

My cat Apollo was really scared on the car ride to the vet (the last time he was in a carrier, he was being re-homed), so he ended up pooping and peeing in the carrier. They didn't miss a beat. They came out with another carrier, and took the soiled one and wiped it out for me. While I waited in my car (you know, Covid), I could fill out paperwork, talk to the doctor about all my concerns, and take care of billing. It didn't take too long although it seemed they were busy, and were able to fill most of the Rx right there. They're awesome! 100% would recommend.

For the past year we have had too many negative experiences at Barker Animal Hospital to not leave a review. From mistakes in how they have handled prescriptions that caused a dog to go over 2 weeks without critical medicine they needed, to mistakes in processing simple pharmacy requests like heartworm medication, to poor practices and terrible experiences euthanizing two beloved dogs, and to forgetting to do a memorial paw print we paid for and now are without, it was just a constant problem of some sort or another and too many discussions of excuses and condescending approaches acting like we are uneducated animal owners. We have moved on to another veterinary office and the experience has been significantly improved.

We recently moved up here from Florida and though that our vet, Bayshore Animal Clinic, in Tampa was the best in the world until we got here. The customer service is above and beyond!!! They called to check up on our dog after shots to make sure he was good, who does that? I thought that was awesome! Everyone there is super nice, friendly, and professional. Their prices are more than fair. They offer the BEST wellness plan that actually covers things. Not like insurance companies wellness plans that are pretty much is a saving accounts you pull from until it runs out and you come out of pocket anyway. This is Cane’s home as long as we live in VA.
