Unfortunately I had to surrender my dog because of several situations out of my control and they denied me , they said they have a 2 mnths wait to surrender a dog unless I have proof of eviction, which means I have get evicted in order for them to accept my dog befor that… they really need to do better in these situations

I love animals but I can't have them. So we go here or to other shelters so I can contribute and give them some love.

Love that you have a place to take feral cats or dogs when they're sick.

Very pleasant experience. It was a pleasure dealing with Dorothy along with everyone at the shelter. The facility was nice and clean. We ended up adopting a wonderful dog that is amazing and loved by everyone.

I had a great person to adopt a dog and they wouldn't let us even know what dogs up for adoption we weren't allowed to go when you aren't allowed to look at the dogs we both had masks on it seems a little unfair that there's a dog sitting in there right now that could have had a great home

Awesome wonderful people. Care so much for the animals. We came in to adopt a cat to keep our two dogs in line. Instead, we adopted a dog name Macho. He’s perfect he name is now Miles. Perfect timing, before COVI 19. Thank you all for the awesome work you do.

My major concerns about the Yonkers Shelter are 1) the very limited hours opened for operations. 2) They do not do enough advertising and out reach to community. I get asked to donate to the North Shote Animal League. I only received an invitation to a square dance years ago before they moved into the new building and never asked again. Clearly they don’t have enough staff person to work on donations. 3) The dog’s are kept alone in cages for hours and hours without walks. Each animal is walked separately they can’t go out in the “yard” together. Dogs are social animals. It saddens me. I went to adopt a dog and the staff was visibly anxious because I was taking the precious extra minutes outside with a dog. This was a problem because it backed up the schedule which is very limited. I know it is hard to work in shelters but we must try to improve. Longer visiting hours, more time out of cages and better out reach in both advertising the animals and donations. I appreciate all THAT is being currently done but we can do better. I have asked all my family to donate to the shelter and my hope is to get longer hours, more walks for dogs and better advertising. Many thanks for those who have read this.

My cause of visiting was to volunteer, but it was filled in that location. Besides the smell which its expected it was clean and the staff was pleasantly kind and they were doing what they needed to do for the animals like clock work. And the animals looked at peace., but anxious to get adopted.. ♡♡♡♡ how i wish i can care for all of them.

Overall this shelter is good. I got a kitten there about a month ago. They gave all the necessary shots and fixed our rescue. This place miles better than some other places in Westchester. She may have brought an upper respiratory infection into our home and infected our other cat. For now it seems mild so hopefully they’ll be ok.

Excellent staff; clean facility; and an amazing collection of cats awaiting adoption. If your looking for a cat (or dog), please go to this shelter! You won't be disappointed!

They took in a mama & four kittens I rescued and said they would keep them together & not spay the mother until the kittens were old enough to be fully weaned. They were also excellent about maintaining Covid safety precautions.

Good people , they help you with anything and they have amazing animals who need a lot of love. This particular animal shelter has many dogs available for adoption.

I went to the shelter not expecting to adopt today but I felt in love with this little Yorkie Terrier. He also fell in love with me. With no information available on this particular dog, I decided to inquire at the front desk. They had me fill out an application and telephone my Coop office while I stood there for approximately one hour. They provide no information about the dog including the age of the dog. They were more interested in my residence in which I reside in over nineteen years. Everybody knows that anybody could have a companion pet...... They really put me through the ringer. Needless to say, the dog lost, I lost all because they had no patience about waiting on hold to verify information. Everybody waits on hold. Needless to say, their office was very very quiet. Stay tuned.......
