We heard a cats cries from a hole at my daughters place. (construction work being done). While we waited for help to arrive, and with the help of a very brave young girl, we managed to get the cat that was buried down 4 feet. The LCHS showed and the 2 officers were so nice and explained the process of what happens next. I don't know the status yet of the cat ( he was not in good shape), but I know that they will do everything possible to save him. And hopefully I will be approved to adopt him when he recovers. He Deserves that. Very fast response, As they arrived 15 min. after we called. THANK YOU

Heather is the absolute worst employee or volunteer or whatever she is and should be removed from her position at LCHS for small animal adoption services because SHE DOES NOT DO HER JOB COMPETENTLY. I spent nearly two months trying to adopt a rabbit from LCHS and it was the worst customer service experience of my life. Finally gave up. LCHS had 37 rabbits up for adoption last I checked. 37! That’s more than any other humane society in Ontario that I checked. Now I know why… Heather makes it extremely difficult to adopt a rabbit.. as if you’re trying to adopt a human baby! First you have to fill out a 4 page adoption package. Then Heather emails you once every few days to nit pick you about your application. They want to know everything like what you do for work, how long you’re at work, how many hours your home a day, every detail of what you’ll feed the rabbit, what vet you’ll take it to, how often you’ll take it to vet. Heather’s response time is awful with her single questions that drag the adoption process out for weeks. I asked if there was a day/time I could call her to have a conversation and speed up the process instead of her emailing me with a question every few days. She said “No I have two jobs and don’t do phone conversations, i’m very busy.” Then later on she told me it didn’t sound like I could afford a rabbit (which is complete bs, she doesn’t know my income!) and she stopped responding altogether. So I called LCHS to ask to work with someone else for adopting a rabbit. I already have one and needed a companion for her. They told me Heather is only person I can deal with. I told them the situation. Then i get an email few days later from another employee who says she was forwarded all my information and will take over the process. More days pass and this girl was just as bad as Heather. They nit picked the second cage I had for the second rabbit. First it’s not big enough, so I get bigger cage… then it doesn’t have a lid on it, they think a rabbit will jump the 3 foot wall. So I put on a chicken wire lid. Then they say the lid isn’t secure enough even though I secured it down with wire and metal clips!! They literally make it impossible! I finally snapped. They say they refer me to supervisor. Another two weeks go by, still no supervisor response! So… I finally gave up! Oh, they also said I could not come in person without appointment to see the rabbits due to COVID. And they wouldn’t let me make an appointment because they kept nit picking every bit of info I gave them! Really a shame because I treat my first rabbit like a queen and her new companion from LCHS would have been treated like a king. So I call Niagara Falls Humane Society. They say to me… sure come down and look at the rabbits! We have about 7. I said… really? I can come see them in person? They said yes no problem and you can adopt the same day. I said wow! I’m on my way. So I walk in there… find the perfect, sweetest, most confident little male rabbit. Adopt him for $75… no questions asked. No hassle, no rude employees, didn’t even have to fill out any paperwork! They took my name and address and did that for me. Process took 20 minutes. I named him Georgie and he is the absolute sweetest most perfect companion for my female rabbit. They are both litter trained now, free roam in my house, and very happy. So.. word of advice to LCHS… get your act together! Fire that Heather girl from small animal adoption and quit scaring people off who could give your rabbits a good loving home. You are honestly horrible! I’ll never forget the awful service and treatment I experienced.

Such a friendly staff that puts you to ease when they take in your fur baby. Got our puppy spayed and I was nervous at first but as soon as I handed her over, they assured me she was in good hands. She's recovering and back to her silky self. Thank you for making the process so comfortable and affordable for pet owners.

Have always had a great experience and got to adopt and take home another furbaby. With all new protocols in place, you can see the animals and staffing are kept safe. Koodos! Xo

My wife and I adopted a dog from them about a month ago. Our experience with the society and their staff was nothing but positive. From what we could tell, their staff have some of the biggest hearts around and they have nothing but love for the animals in their care. We were fortunate enough to be able to adopt with them and we were also fortunate enough to make a financial donation to the society after the process. The adoption process with LCHS can be stressful and long but please remember, the animals they care for are their number one priority. If you are serious about adopting an animal with them, please be patient with the process and remember that they are doing their due diligence to make sure these animals go to safe and loving homes. Best of luck to them and all their animals! Thank you to all their staff for what they are doing for these beautiful animals in need. Continue the good work!

Beyond frustrated with my experience at this humane society. When I called to retrieve my cat who was turned into this shelter I was advised she had been there all of 7 minutes and they had already shot her up with vaccinations which cost me $40. When I got there my cat was being held in a rusty metal cage that’s was way too small for her size. I am completely shocked they would treat an animal in such a traumatizing manner. I strongly do not recommend this shelter to take care of your animals.

They’re closed on weekends and close early during the week, not sure when someone is able to try to adopt a pet with such limited hours…

I Found a baby squirrel in my backyard after falling from his nest, high in a tree during a large storm, the baby was not doing well, I warmed him with a blanket (wearing gloves) before the humane society opened. They gladly took the squirrel, provided him with care and an assesment, had him transferred to a wildlife rescue in Jarvis, where he is being cared for. Thank you so much, for caring about this small squirrel, we are hoping for a full recovery!
