I came here for my baby Bearded Dragon. This was the only place around me that took exotic pets & was able to see me for an Emergency Appt within a day (other places had up to 1.5 month wait!) I had feared my BD broke her toe and she had an on-going issue with her tail. The front desk staff were kind, and pleasant to deal with. The technician was also nice and comforting, given the situation. I met with Dr. Van Demark, and he was great with my little girl. He gave me a few examples of what the issues could be and started me on treatment right away to be proactive. Also, made another appointment to check in with her the next week, to ensure everything was going to plan. I've had multiple questions since then, and needed guidance with a few situations; Dr. Van Demark has corresponded with me multiple times via email regarding any issues I've had. It seems like she's getting better, thanks to him & the whole team. I couldn't be more grateful and well-meaning when recommending anybody to see him for their reptiles/ other exotics or pets. The price was very reasonable and even though I'd pay anything to save her ... it was under $100 for the exam and her 2 medications; With access to his fantastic medical expertise after the initial appointment. Give this place an opportunity to care for your pets! I'm sure you'll both (your pet & you) be happy with the outcome of this decision. Commenting after seeing all the negative reviews(fb and on here now as well) lately... I am Making a burner because I am literally scared of retaliation from the people who work at this hospital. Ultimately they charge a RIDICULOUS amount for (mediocre care at best)you to watch your pet die. I luckily was able to bring my baby to another veterinary office who saved his life but am really scarred from the way me and my 8 month old puppy were treated. I would check Banister Animal Hospital and Better Lives out, both are in the area and reputable!

Cannot say enough amazing things about Rhinebeck Animal Hospital! We are new puppy parents (neurotic, nervous, worried) and Dr. Porter, Dr. Tumolo, and the whole RAH staff have gone above and beyond to get back to our messages, squeeze us in when needed, and really truly care for our little pup! Every question is answered, and every worry or ailment has an action step, all with kindness and patience. We will never bring a pet anywhere else! Thank you RAH!

They take great care of my man Misha - the only vets I trust around here to be thorough every time. Highly recommend and I hope to bring Misha there for years and years to come.

I feel extremely confident with the knowledge the staff has. All my questions are answered when I leave. I find staff caring and available. Also they are sensitive to financial challenges.

Have been bring our pet to Rhinebeck Animal Hospital & Dr Greg Tumolo since he was a puppy; over 13 years. The staff is friendly, dedicated, caring and follow thru with requests and messages. The doctors, from my experience, have been very good and we cannot say enough positive things about the excellent care provide by Dr Tumolo.

From start to finish, the entire team at Rhinebeck Animal Hospital was empathetic and caring when we needed help knowing how to manage quality of life for our senior kitty, Zoe, whom we have loved for over 18 years. Their response to our emergency situation was outstanding and is proof that they love our pets as much as we do. Zoe is snuggled on my lap with her paws comfortably tucked under her, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Wonderful and deeply caring staff. Plus, they have a lovely little outside area by the parking lot where you can sit amongst the foliage and de-stress so you don't worry about your fur baby as much since you can't go in with them yet. Brought my pet Cockatoo Frosty in to get a check up. He was healthy and I was an overly protective bird owner. They were very professional and took good care of me and my big bird that likes to bight. Thank you Rhinebeck for your service. I would recommend your services to anyone that has a bird and needs care.

Recently my husband and I went camping in a Nys park. They wouldn’t allow our dog in because we only had he rabies tag and they wanted the certificate. After many attempts to call RAH (with hardly any service)! They finally got our call and had the certificate faxed to the park ranger in no time! Rhinebeck animal hospital staff is the best!!!!! Love the Dr’s too!!!!

I had such an amazing experience RAH. I must have called over a dozen different vet clinics and animal hospitals. They were extremely friendly, patient and helpful to my fur baby's needs. They were honest and showed true concern for my boy's well being, rather than just getting another client into the building. I highly recommend RAH I will definitely be coming back for all my boys needs.

I boarded my dog at the Rhinebeck Animal Hospital for over a week. They called me the second day to tell me how unhappy my dog was and then railroaded me into putting him on tranquilizers. Then they called me the next day to ask if they could take him on extra walks. They couldn't understand why I was upset by their initial response and that they came up with something the next day AFTER they put my dog on drugs. Apparently after I lost it on them they didn't bother with the extra walks. My dog has never had a problem being boarded elsewhere. I have never had a problem in the four other facilities I have used. This place was closer to my new house so I went out on a limb. I wish I had not. I spent my entire vacation sick to my stomach that I could not be here to pull my dog away from these people. I spent a fair amount of money to keep my dog safe and happy. I do not believe he was either. The boarding manager was flippant and did not seem to see the problem with them doping up my dog, or did not care. I will never set foot in this place again, and I would highly recommend searching out alternative boarding situations unless you are OK with your dog being on tranquilizers. I know a lot of people post horrible reviews online. Most of these people are disgruntled or chronic one star reviewers. Look at my history. I spend my time leading people towards good places not disparaging against bad. The only reason I am bothering with this review is because I honestly wish I had read this before I exposed a cherished family member to being doped up. If I could give negative stars I would, I do not believe that they are worth one star.

This office is friendly and responsive. The vets are always willing to do phone consults at no charge for ongoing issues with my pet. They love animals and it shows, and they listen respectfully to what you have observed and what you think is going on. They don't talk down to you, they give you full information and answer all questions. Can't say enough good things about them.

Caring staff and knowledgeable Doctors. Dr Weckesser is one of the best. She really takes the time to listen and has a great way with animals.

What a professional, clean animal hospital! Winnie (my pup) always receives such great care here. The vet technicians are always so kind & sweet to Winnie, and the vets are wonderful. I’ve also taken my rooster here for bad case of bumble foot last year. They were so helpful and professional with Roosty. I was really impressed. He’s doing great a year later. I completely recommend.

I want to thank Dr. Vandermark and his staff (Particularly Jacob ) for being so professional and making everything so easy and comfortable.They are quick to respond and very caring of all animals including turtles ( which is what I have ). I highly recommend them for your fur and shell babies.

I will give a 5 star for Dr G Dr V for there amazing exotic care in my animals Chris is an awesome manager listens when there is issues The one vet tech is rude and tried to pretty much lie to me and I'm not dumb so I refuse to have him come grab my animal

They're very nice, but they definitely over charged me for everything. I spent $500 to be seen, and have his blood and urine tested. That's ridiculous. I'm going back to my old vet, it might be a long drive, but they don't charge such ridiculous amounts. I love my cat and I'll do anything for him, but these prices are exorbitant. **Edit** (about two months later) I went back to my old vet because I preferred their service and everything else, unfortunately my best friend 19 year old cat is no longer with us. Today Rhinebeck vet called to ask about him, which isn't their fault, I was using another vet when he died, they didn't know. However, when they asked about him, I replied: "He's dead." I think that the girl MUST have thought I said "fine" or "good" because she then said "Okay great, well, Dr. Whatever was just checking in." I asked if she heard me correctly, and she seemed confused, so I said "He. Is. Dead." and the girl replied "Oh, uh, okay, well, sorry. bye." I wasn't going to post about this, but was urged to by friends after hearing the callous response. In contrast, my vet who did put my little man down not only included a sympathy card with his ashes, but MAILED me one that had PERSONAL messages from all the staff. Don't go here. It's too expensive, and they have no heart.

I have been going to RAH with my dogs for years. We see Dr. Porter and she is awesome! She is incredibly compassionate and patient when handling our dogs. Her calm and peaceful demeanor helps to calm my younger dog down (she also, had the same effect on a rescue dog I had that has since passed away). What I appreciate the most is how completely thorough Dr. Porter is. When we have visited for an emergency or when something is not going well; she takes the time to really listen to me. As a medical professional myself, I can not say how important that is... Just like with ourselves, or our children we know when our dogs are not feeling well and taking the time to listen to all of the symptoms is vital to a correct diagnosis. Dr. Porter is extremely intelligent and she is never afraid to go ask another vet for their opinion, if there is any doubt in her mind (that clearly shows her primary concern is for my animal’s health). When one of our dogs was diagnosed with cancer she emailed me a printout explaining everything about the cancer. She also, took the time to research a variety of chemo treatments and had his samples sent to an oncologist to confirm the pathology; this way there were no doubts about how to proceed. Her diagnosis was correct, and she treated my dog and cured him of his cancer. She also, takes the time to go over a variety of treatment options and the pros and cons of each choice. I really like that I am not given a single choice (however, there are times when only one thing will work), but a variety and that I can select what works best for my animals and my family. Finally, she always checks up to see how we are doing after a sick visit. I am a mother, and my dogs are family members, too. We love them and making sure they live long and healthy lives is extremely important to me. I know that Dr. Porter cares about my dogs and their health. Her empathy shines through. She is stuck with us for life! In addition, the staff at RAH has always been pleasant and helpful. I was really impressed at my last visit; there has been an increase in cases of kennel cough, so to keep animals safe the doctors were conducting wellness exams in the parking lot. This is a beautiful example of RAH taking a proactive step in preventing the spread of kennel cough and their dedication to keeping a healthy animal in that condition by limiting any interaction between their patients. I have had nothing, but excellent experiences every time I have been to RAH!

I would highly recommend Rhinebeck Animal Hospital to everybody. The staff at the front desk are very friendly, waited less then 5 minutes to see Dr Weckesser which is a great Vet. After a couple of tests. I knew exactly what was wrong with my dog and she is now on the mend. Thank you Rhinebeck Animal Hospital for everything.

Jeff, in reception, is great. Doctors are very knowledgeable and helpful . A little pricey, like all vets. The only reason I'm giving four instead of five stars is that there seemed to be some tension at the front desk, girls with sour faces, talking about each other etc...It's a little awkward and uncomfortable. Also, I mistakenly started talking to the receptionist while she was in the middle of something and she snapped at me! Yikes! Nonetheless, I will return. I can take a little disrespect in order to receive good care for my kitties.

Wonderful animal hospital - great hours, friendly and attentive front office staff, and knowledgeable and caring veterinarians. My dog has had excellent care during both routine care visits and surgical procedures.

The best around! Service was last-minute (on a Sunday!...they’re open 7 days a week) in my cat’s case. The staff was warm and reassuring overall. The facilities were clean and everything was managed efficiently. My cat is usually freaked out by the noise and smells and sights of our previous vet; she was completely at ease at this office and in the medical room. When it was time to pay, my bill was in the double digits. I’m very grateful for the peace of mind and generous/exceptional service.
