Got my resuce there. Was Boston named Bugsey . Had him for 11 years. He passed in my arms at home. Save A Pet is the best shelter on long island. Dori the owner of this place really cares about the animals there. I now have another rescue. Please help this shelter.

Save A Pet is a great place to adopt a new best friend. The dogs and cats are well taken care of, but they all need a forever home.

Went here with the children And we picked a dog filled out the app and waited a day,Then I went back with the kids to see how it was going the girl at the counter said they could only reach one of my reference and also couldnt reach our vet. They wanted the vet Because on the app we put that we had a 13 y/o male shih tzu that wasnt fixed but up on all shots.so we called the vet and asked, could they call the shelter because we know how busy they are after finally opening after covid but if they could please make the call the kids were supa excited . We also brang our dog to meet the new male dog just to see if they would get along they seem Happy and got along very good together. The .Next day my wife and Kids go to meet the dog because its her day off of work and she hasnt met him yet At the shelter They put us in a room with the dog were looking to adopt and the kids played with him and my wife just loves him. also when we leave we ask if there is any thing else they need from us,they say no. The Next day I get a call sorry your app was denied reason your 13 y/o male was not fixed. Then why would it take 3 days, for them to call my Vet and references if it was on the App on the first day. Why would they deny a male dog a loving home because the 13 y/o male who lives there is not fixed.SMH-

Picked up a 1.5 year old kitten (they're all kittens to me) from here that desperately needed a good home. The staff was very very nice, genuinely cared about the well being of their animals, was very forthcoming about her past and what would be required. Very helpful even after I had already brought her home. I recommend adopting from here!

My nephew likes the place. Me ,I didn't care for it. You have to commit to taking a pet before they will let you view it in person, Poor salesmanship ! In my humble opinion

I went to cliffs clinic in the back for my cat and they were amazing. Nervous about going somewhere that was low cost because they can be sketchy sometimes but this place was just great from start to finish. Incredibly priced and excellent care. I cant say enough how fantastic they were!

My fiancé and I decided to rescue a cat. We brought Gracie home this past weekend. She seemed okay initially but took off that night and wouldn’t come out-at all. We called and they told us to put her in a room with a shirt of ours, the food and water and litter box. I went in to change the water and she started hissing at me. So he went in the next day and she went to swat at him. We called the next day to let them know what was going on and we couldn’t get her. She bit and scratched me. We called them again, the girl said she was alone, couldn’t do anything but to bring her back. WE HAD TO PAY $100 FOR SOMEONE TO GET HER OUT OF THE BATHROOM. We arrive and the girl behind the desk proceeds to say “you have had cats before so you should know what to expect!” Really? Mike had cats older than that snot nosed girl. I walked out after she started berating him in front of customers. With this virus and him not working, $100 is a lot to us. Not so much as a phone call from the owner. Please DO NOT GO THERE.

I am incredibly disappointed with your organization. I (an approved adopter who has adopted from you before) took the time to ready my home and my children for a new pet. I went out fully masked with gloves to go get the special food, formula, a comfy bed and a brand new litter box. I sat with my 4 yr old coming up with names for our new family member who was supposed to come home today. We were all ready, waiting for that call from you to tell us what time to come get our new baby. We spoke to the foster, got updates on her.. pictures of her.. We were excited and so ready. But Instead we get a call (well no, didnt even give us the respect of a call.. we got a TEXT) that we are no longer allowed to adopt her because of a terrible accident in someone else's home. That because we have a dog (that you were aware of and that sleeps with the cat we adopted from you last year, That is a mush and wouldnt hurt a fly) because of our dog, that you dont even know or care to meet.. Because of our dog we are no longer allowed to adopt our kitten. You made us pay for an accident that had nothing to do with us. You treated us like we are not competent enough to care for a small kitten and you judged my dog just because she is big.. You sent us pictures and introduced us to a new family member and then took her away. Worst of all you broke my 4yr old daughters heart. She cried last night looking at the cat bed that we bought that I now had to hide. I'm disappointed and angry at the way we were treated but most of all I'm sad for my daughter who would have been a great Mommy. You took that from her and you took a very special family away from that kitty. Shame on you!

I’ve had one experience at save a pet - it wasn’t to adopt a pet, it was for my daughter. She is a Girl Scout and has to do her bronze award, so for it, we were going to donate food and other supplies, and also build a shelf for them. I Attempted to call and ask them many times. No one answered the first at least five times. When someone finally picked up , the co owner sue picked up. She was soooo snotty while we were just trying to help them. She sounded like she hated her job. She said she was busy at the moment and had to call me back later that day. Well when she finally called back, we already missed the deadline and now we have to do another year of junior to do it. Thanks a lot save a pet :/ . Also - it says a lot that the owner reviewed her own place :-(

Save-a-pet is one of the best places to adopt a rescue animal. I was originally told before my first adoption by a friend that a rescue pet will love you more than any other pet because they know how bad life can be. And they were right. We have since adopted a total of three dogs. And they are awesome. Highly recommend this place

We adopted 2 great pups 4 years apart from them ❤ ♥. Just cause you fill out an app for a specific pet, doesn't mean many others didn't as well. The important thing is the save rescues from kill shelters and save their lives. Then find a good home. I think they do a GREAT job. Thank you for Dusty and Dakoda (aka Da Boys) ☺

From the first day I walked into Save A Pet we felt welcomed. They took their time with us and I never felt rushed or pushed to pick. We had the opportunity to spend time with the cats there and they answered any questions we had. We mainly dealt with Gabriella, who is a committed, sweet, and helpful soul that works there. I can't say enough great things about her and you can tell she truly loves her job.Save A Pet is clean and every single person there you can tell works extremely hard to do the best they can for these sweet animals. The application process was seamless and when I messaged or emailed them, they responded quickly. Went back several times to visit and we came home with the sweetest cat. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you do for animals. We definitely recommend Save A Pet!!!

A place where the people who work there actually care for the pets as if they're their own. No kidding!

My mom went in this morning to begin the process for adoption. We were told that because her previous dog that passed away only 6 months ago wasn’t spayed (for health and monetary reasons that were outside of her control) that she might get denied the adoption. Which left my mom crying at home because she felt judge for something she had no control of. We hope we do get the puppy because I feel that’s not a good enough reason to deny the puppy a good home. Things like that people have no control of and it shouldn’t be a factor in an adoption. The animals seemed to be taken well care of and the staff is very approachable and they later apologized. Thankfully she got the dog!!!
