This place needs massive reform, the Director (Amy Lewis), the board of directors and Kristianne Cassal do not have the animals interests as a priority.

Amy Lewis needs to be GONE!!! Heard 3 stories in the past 2 days, someone like that should not be working with live animals… disappointed in our spca!!!

Not happy with policy only excepting kittens/cats that are sick. I found a little kitten crying in my cars engine area. Coaxed him out by offering him milk. We trapped him in cage then took to spca only to be told they wouldn't take him. There was many empty cages available to take him in. Luckily a young women came in to see the kittens, hear my conversation with front desk and took my little kitty. So thankful for her but not happy with the spca.

I have been to so many shelters but this was one where I could see the staff were gentle and really taking care of the pets. Though busy and full, the volunteers were considerate enough to answer my questions and take me around to see the cats. I liked the ambience here in this spca. Highly recommend!

This is one the worst places I've ever had experience with. The staff is hostile, conspiratorial, and negative. Never ever will I go to this facility. There are many foundations like the Ten Lives club, that work with cats but have connections to other loving & caring groups. Reminder: This is a government run facility. Their care is met with what you might find at the DMV. Don't ever surrender your pets to these people. EVER. Save-a-pet is another incredible agency.

Email them and inquire about a dog they have up for adoption. I didn't recieve a reply back in any sense. I'm not a fan of this SPCA

So I called and had set up an appointment to have a meet and greet with one of the dogs in the shelter. Whoever I made the appointment with didn’t know the dog very well because on our way to our appointment we got a phone call from someone else (not the person I had talked to the day before)at the shelter saying she didn’t know who I had talked to but that the dog didn’t like other dogs or men(the person I first spoke to on the phone said nothing about my husband or our other dog when I stated that we have another dog and spoke of my family who my husband is apart of), which is fine but why didn’t the other staff member know this information? I wouldn’t be half as mad if they even had a bio on their website for this dog but they did not so when I called to set up the meet and greet I expected the staff I was talking to to give me information that was correct. They also stated on the dogs profile that she was spayed and when I spoke to the first person on the phone she informed me she was not and that the dog would have to be a foster to adopt which I was fine with but than to be told the first person shouldn’t have made our appointment in the first place just isn’t cool. We will not be adopting from this shelter and will be looking elsewhere for another fur baby.

Well worth seeing when you are in Boston. Well kept after all these years. Old Ironside still impresses. Knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Filled out an adoption application with them. Had an immediate response. They asked for some more information which I provided immediately. No call, no response…. Nothing. I heard the change in leadership had a serious effect on this place and now I found out first hand. If you’re serious about adopting there are plenty of other rescues that really put their heart into adoptions, don’t waste your time here.

Looking at dogs to adopt with my boyfriend for himself. I have a dog and 2 cats in my apartment.

I sadly had my kitty put down here but all the staff were very nice about it and they say he went peacefully. I also love that they are no kill which seems hippocritical considering what I said but my cat had chronic kidney disease and was suffering so there was nothing else we could do
