Was a 15 yr customer here. If your pet needs dental work, (or frankly, any work that requires surgery and anesthesia), I would recommend taking them to Animal Medical Center or Blue Pearl where they have actual dentist to do the work and anesthesiologist who take the time to discuss your pets needs . Those places are much better equiped to deal with sensative and potential life threatening issues that can occur when your pet is over anhestisized or, better yet, attempt to make sure they DON'T over anesthetize your pet. In fact, when this issue occurred at St Marks, they were not prepared to deal with it and told us to take our cat to Animal Medical Center. That really tells you everything you need to know when considering any surgery at St Marks. If you want more detail, here it is. Our 15 year old cat, Charlotte, had some dental work done at St. Marks. She already had elevated kidney numbers. Somehow the vets there didn't think it was necessary to consider options to anesthesia to reduce the time she would be down (other places we went to after explained very clearly what the options were). This caused sever injury to her kidneys and nearly killed our cat. It also delayed treatement for a tumor she had because we couldn't address the issue for more than a year while we had to deal with her reactoin to being over anesthized at St Marks. Because that delay in treating her tumor left us with few options for treatment, the window where we could have removed the tumor passed and left us with only radiation as an option. Thanks to Blue Pearl, Charlottes kidney issue has improved. However, the tumor we couldn't treat due to the damage her kidney received at St Marks is killing her. Do yourself a favor, take your beloved pet to an actual animal hospital. If you need to go to St Marks, make sure it's for the small things (checkups, shots). Anything more, they may not handle it well and will tell you to go to AMC anyhow.

My dog at times can be skittish around masked people. During a recent checkup/exam the St. Marks team brought her from the exam room into the back to get her updated vaccinations. We were informed that my dog was barking and skittish around the vet techs, who according to the vet, were all masked, standing over her trying to corral her. Anyone that knows dogs should understand that multiple people standing over a dog that is already uncomfortable will make the situation even worse. We were then informed once she was eye level with the vet techs, there was no issue. Rather than acknowledging that the situation was approached terribly, they offered to give us sedatives for the next time we go to the vet. Needless to say, I'm done with St. Marks after 4 years. Thanks guys for finally making up my mind on this matter!

One of the worst experience I have had. Would not recommend. You can’t ask questions after a procedure. Never answer my email. You have the nerve to ask me to rate you. I have sent an email still no reply. You are only after the money. You claim that you were not able to get in contact with me! You were in contact with me up to the time it was to collect my money. I paid in advance you were able to get me then. When it came time for you you to schedule well I can not be found. I can’t with you people you didn’t even call me to pick up my cat. You people are vet mill. Horrible experience. I am being kind.

I am furious about this place. I made two appointments to come here and the doctor is unavailable for both times. The hospital didnt bother to notify me AT ALL - no text, no call, no email -and just expected me to go there and be told to go home. I'm sure the vet is great but I sacrificed a lot of time and money for nothing and I'm not coming here again.

Simply the best exotic vet downtown. We have three guinea pigs and so thankful for their great vets.

St. Mark’s vets, techs and receptionists always come through for me and my 4 pets - and for animals I have rescued. We’ve been going there for years. I have no plans to change anything.

Came in with a young kitten who was found in the road and the vet charged us to tell us he was healthy and “clean his ears.”They didn’t offer to do a fecal test for worms and we had to ask (I have since leaned that it is standard to just give stray kittens a worm-killing drug when they are first brought in, but they wouldn’t even offer to test him let alone give him any!). The test came back negative but we found out later that the cat had two different types of worms. Immediately after we got home we found ticks on the cat as well though they said they checked him. They also told me over the phone an estimated age for the cat and then they emailed us a document with a different age. Very disappointing service, just another vet trying to rip you off. Update: I called them about finding two different species of worms from my cat, both of which they missed during the fecal test. The receptionist told me that we would have to do ANOTHER fecal test before giving him any medication (fecal test is $90, medication is around $10) even though i had the physical worms and offered to bring those in. I took my cat to another vet, they gave him the medication before even asking for the worms. No tests needed. Never going back to St. Marks Veterinary and I hope you don’t either. They just want to take as much money from you as possible.

I went here to try to buy prescription dog food, they explained that they had the food in stock but could not sell it to me. I explained that I ran out of the food my other vet gave me, and that I could provide a prescription from the other vet. They said they would not be able to fill the prescription. I told them my dog was sick and hungry, and they said there was nothing they could do about selling me the dog food that he was prescribed for and that they had in stock. I reached out to another vet in the area and they were able to fill the prescription and sell me the dog food.

Dr. Santos was very cordial and helpful and her attention to my pet's needs was guided by her excellent examination and clinical judgement. I appreciated the way in which she communicated with me about my pet.

We had a very kind and professional Veterinarian who helped us with our Robo Hamster. We will definitely be coming here again if we ever need another Vet visit.

I have been coming to St Mark's veterinary hospital for many years and they have always lived up to my expectations of being a top veterinary hospital in New York City. I actually used to look forward to sitting in the waiting area, before the pandemic, because it was always something interesting going on, some unusual animal coming in, some adorable puppy or kitten. I have always wholeheartedly trusted them with my cats and I know they will always get the very best of care.

As a long-time rabbit owner, finding a veterinarian who will even look at a rabbit can be a challenge, but I have been bringing my various bunnies to St. Mark's Vet for more than 20 years and we always get expert care from a doctor trained in exotic small amimals.

I have been taking my own pets to St. Mark’s for about a decade. In addition, St. Mark’s has treated pets abandoned or escaped from their homes who were trapped or rescued by me and my friends.

St Marks Vet practice is the gold standard of pet care, well, to be honest ALL care (they take great care of us owners as well). They are professional, talented, knowledgeable, compassionate and committed. I couldn't ask for more than that. Additionally, they are a an enormous help when it comes to managing cost, submitting claims, booking appointments. It's definitely a team effort and it shows. Thanks St Marks!!! Both my dog and I are huge fans.

St. Marks Veterinary Hospital is now owned by PATHWAY VET ALLIANCE. Pathway Vet Alliance is owned by TSG Consumer Partners which was acquired from Morgan Stanley Capital Partners. Since St. Marks Veterinary Hospital is now owned by a corporation; namely, an equity firm, it's ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! BIG CORPORATIONS ARE PURCHASING VETERINARY PRACTICES. Do your homework before taking your loving pets to St. Marks Veterinary Hospital a.k.a. Pathway Vet Alliance!

This is THE BEST vet ever and all the staff are so lovely. Dr Sosa helped my little baby get better after he got sick so suddenly. They really do care there and are great with follow up calls. Highly recommend, especially if you have exotic pets.

45 minute late for an appointment. It can happen in case of an emergency. However, no communication from the staff. Had to ask twice what was going on. I was waiting for the vet in a small room, with dirty trash and a cockroach. I definitely want my dog to be taken care of by professional, reliable and responsive individuals. That was not the case. I left.

We had a bit of a scare yesterday when our calico Aurora appeared to have developed a cough. Despite the shut down we were able to take her in for a check up, which though handled remotely with us in one room and the vet in the other communicating by phone while examining her, was executed with minimal stress. We've patient parents at St Marks Vet Hospital for 7 years now and find them not only professional, courteous and just really nice but always able to fit us in at late notice. Turns out our fears were unwarranted and the cat is happy and healthy and probably just pulled a sick stunt to get out of the house for a couple of hours, but we are so reassured and so grateful for their excellent service in these stressful times.

I haven't actually been to this vet before, but if my experience with Mina who I spoke to on the phone is at all a reflection of the service I will receive, it's 5 stars. I had so many questions patiently answered and was given so much more information in one phone call than I've received with many other veterinary hospitals. Mina was incredibly informative, empathetic, and helpful. I look forward to visiting, and I feel so much more comfortable about moving to a new country with my beloved cat knowing I will have their guidance and assistance!

Everyone here is so nice. The entire staff genuinely cares about your pets and treat them as if they were their own. I always feel very comfortable leaving my furry babies in their care. When one of my cats got extremely sick and had to be put to sleep I wasn’t able to bring her to St. Marks but when they found out they sent a card. I figured it would just be a generic sympathy card but I was wrong. The entire staff wrote their own heart felt message and it really helped me through the grieving process. If you want the best care for your little furry children, bring them here.

We have been going to St. Marks Vets for almost 20 years. We live on the Upper East Side and continue to schlep downtown to bring our animals (2 cats and a dog) to Dr. Haddock and her team. We tried other places and nothing compares. They have always been super attentive to us and our animals, always find time to schedule a visit or speak by phone, and demonstrate a true passion for their work. From the moment we walk in the door, there is a great community of people who care about their patients and the work they do. I think they are one of the best in the City hands down!
