This place saved my cat’s life. After having no luck at an urgent care facility I brought my cat here and they did an ultrasound within a few hours to find his obstruction. They weren’t able to complete the surgery at this location, but the …

I can’t say enough good things about BluePearl downtown. I came in in complete panic after my puppy started peeing blood and lost control of his bladder. The women at the front desk were extremely kind and welcoming. The nurse treated my …

This hospital was recommended by our primary vet when our cat had to go in for an emergency obstructive urinary tract surgery. We were taken care of by Dr. Brett, Dr. Wu, and several other staff (apologies that i don't remember the names!). Our cat had to be hospitalized for 2 days and everyone was very empathetic and did an amazing job in communicating with us daily on their status (morning and evening). Not once did we feel like a nuisance or were being rushed off. Payment was very straight forward and broken down by the staff. Only recommendation I have is to have something on the website indicating when a doctor will be on site (it seems that some days, they arent since they share between multiple locations?).

I am so grateful to have worked with BluePearl. Everyone from the front desk to the vet techs to the doctors have been nothing but kind, compassionate, and responsive. Not only have they taken care of my little furball, but also mommy too.

Extremely unprofessional facility. Unorganized and non-communicative.

My cat swallowed a rubber band, and they were able to get it out without surgery! They even gave me back the washed rubber band in a little container, which was funny- even though it was expensive ($380), I'd go back for another cat emergency

This place is an absolute disaster, do not bring your pet here if you value the following three things: your pet’s health, your time, and your money. Seriously, go ANYWHERE else. I hope this review saves people from making the same awful decision that I did.

Don't go here if you don't want to get scammed. I called to get an estimate of what an echocardiogram would cost. The receptionist told me she's not allowed to tell me. I asked why? She couldn't give me a reason, but they're just not allowed. She said they can tell me the consult fee, but no estimate on the exam. I hung up. I then called BluePearl in Brooklyn, and got a response easily. It's $750 in case you're wondering. Why is this location being shady and trying to get patients stuck with a bill they weren't expecting? Extremely unethical practice.

Nice clean place, took us in quite soon, lovely staff. However, I was told by allergist (Friday) to place my dog on a vegetarian diet and email her if I need and she'll get back to me quickly. Three days later (Sunday) he still won't eat so I email her. Monday I call the office who explain she won't be in for another day but the secretary will email her as I'm not supposed to call. Just wanted to know if I should give in or ease him into the new food which I explained. The email I got was automated stating I shouldn't email but call the clinic I went to. It's now 9:20 pm Tuesday, her day of work, and NO response! Good thing the helper at the pet store had an allergic dog and advised me. For $700 I can't get anyone at Blue Pearl to answer me?

Surgery During Covid times. Professional and prompt service. On Jan 14th 2021, Emergency surgery need to be performed for Patches and we were referred to Blue Pearl New York Downtown immediately. I was anxious about the surgery because during Covid, where everything was either closed or understaffed. Check-in was a breeze On the way to Blue Pearl I checked Patches online at Blue Pearl N Y . When I showed up at the Hospital, I had to sign bunch of covid forms, but a tech came and took Patches inside immediately for his consult. She did not wait for me to finish. Payment Within few minutes I received a call from the Dr, gave every detail over phone and got an estimate by email, my payment went through and we were waiting outside the hospital. They asked us to leave if we wished as he will be discharged after 24 to 48 hr after surgery and we can continue to be in touch over phone. Pre surgery Dr's call Dr Philipa Pavia, called to give comprehensive detail about the surgery and type which she might have to perform and his surgery was bumped up because of its seriousness. She was certain about what Patches needs and We felt he was in safe hands. She then told us to expect another called as soon as the surgery went through. Post-surgery call About an hour or so later received a call from Patches's Surgeon, Dr Pavia, she said, surgery went well without complication and that she performed an enterotomy to remove foreign object. The object was semi-circular, bald, some sort of a ball that he swallowed whole. She informed us about post surgery complications that could happen and what we need to look out for and also informed us that he will have to stay at least 24 hrs for observation and we will receive a call by evening 6.30 pm Prompt Update call ( Evening) We received an update from the Dr, about how he is doing… and that he is on the mend. He was getting IV fluids and also on pain meds.. Got updates about his walk, diet, and demeanor. She said once he eats solid food we can bring him home. Mostly next day. We were told to expect a call in the morning next day. Timely update call (next day morning 8 am) and discharge discussion. Dr Pavia said Patches is doing great and he is in good spirit, he is not eating but that is not a cause for concern as most Pets do that when they are at hospital. She updated us about his walks, and how there were no surprises overnight and that he is healing. Everything goes like this he can be discharged by 6pm later that day. Discharge instruction call and update Dr gave us more updates about Patches and his activity. instructions about monitoring him, more specifically.. his incision site care. Requested follow up after 2 weeks with Blue Pearl or Dr Jones. And complete discharge instructions. Which will be explained when I come to pick up Patches. By 5pm we were eagerly waiting outside and patches was handed to us with discharge instruction (printout with notes, meds, incision care, follow up date.. Basically everything). He looked healthy and happy and so were we :-). Relieved that he is with us mostly how good the team at Blue Pearl has been with Patches. I am so grateful to Dr Pavia and her team at Blue Pearl Vet Downtown N Y for treating patches during COVID lockdown. They fixed him and treated him with such kindness and compassion. Answered all our questions and put us at ease by prompt communication( frequent timely updates and professionalism). As pet parent I felt confident in their team effort to handle emergency pet care.

I have been taking my cat here since May 2021 when she suddenly started acting different and breathing very heavy and fast. I frantically brought my cat here in the early morning and she was taken in immediately. After some diagnostics I was told that my cat was experiencing heart failure, and was in critical condition, her prognosis was very poor. I was absolutely devastated at the news, when a couple days prior I believe she had been a perfectly healthy happy young cat. She had to stay overnight at the hospital for multiple days to stabilize. The staff at the hospital were incredibly empathetic, and amazing with giving me frequent updates and explaining the situation and treatment options thoroughly. Over the next couple months, the cardiologist, Dr. Wiley, worked with me to narrow down my cats treatment to balance her heart condition and kidney values. I am happy to say that my cat has been stable for the past few months, and is doing absolutely amazing. It feels like a miracle after the months of hospital visits. If it weren’t for the team at blue pearl, and especially Dr. Wiley, my little kitty would not be around today. Truly thank you to all the staff at blue pearl!

Went to BluePearl today for urgent care for my recently adopted pup. Had no wait time and was helped by a Vet Assistant named Michelle who was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to be helpful to me and my pup. They were great at explaining/breaking down costs for everything so I knew what I was getting into before getting charged and were exceptionally flexible with my situation. Everyone I spoke to was very friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend for emergency situations!

The only redeeming quality about Blue Pearl is the staff- wonderful and helpful people! But $229 just to talk to the vet before they'll do anything? Outrageous.

I took my 6 year old english bulldog here because she was getting recurrent UTI's and she had an on/off again heart murmur that needed to be checked out. She saw Dr. Wiley (cardiology) and Dr. Mak (internal medicine). Both of the doctors were amazing - so knowledgable, communicated fully, and really took the time to explain the diagnosis and treatment plan. They were 100% transparent on the recommended tests, discussed the pros/cons of each, and discussed the cost before hand to make sure we were on the same page. Thanks to them, my little girl is healthy as can be, and I feel peace of mind knowing that she was in great hands. Would definitely take her back!

Stay away if at all possible. Choices are limited overnight and during the weekend yes -- so only ever go if there truly is an emergency that cannot wait until your regular vet is open. My dog was diagnosed with cancer and the oncologist didn't even properly read the X-rays. They took days to respond to any inquiries and just really showed lack of empathy or care...My experience is that all they do is diagnose hypothetically -- "it could be this" and make tons of money in doing so, without really treating. Our precious cargo deserve better.

This is literally the worst place ever! Don’t go here! We had a just born baby dog with a complication and they were so rude. They didn’t even have chairs to wait! And then after all the misery, they asked us for the credit card to get us out of the place. So again, don’t go here if you care about your pet.

Do NOT go here. Go down the block to VEG. The management is horrendous, they dragged my dog with emergency abdominal pain and showed no care in his handling, made owners wait in a flash flood, screamed at owner, and showed only an interest in profit, not care. I told them after witnessing how he and I were being treated that I wanted to leave and didn’t trust them with his care. It took almost twenty minutes and multiple phone calls for them to give him back to me. I was told there were dogs experiencing emergencies and they couldn’t bring him up...even though he was there for an emergency? A headache, a nightmare. I canceled service and got my down to VEG. So much kinder, they let you come inside and be with your dog during the care.

Run away from this place. Go down the block to veg. Charged $7000 for an overnight stay for a terminally ill dog. Get out of here. They don’t charge that at the ER for humans. Good luck to anyone trying to come here. Just look at all views by most recent and notice all the 1 star reviews. That’s says enough. Stay away!!!!

Our entire experience with BP was wonderful- and that's really saying something considering we brought our dog, Gretta, in for surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. Everyone at BP was so kind, professional, communicative, helpful and needless to say: we received EXPERT medical treatment for Gretta. Her tumor was completely removed and she's well on her way to recovery. We are so thankful for Dr. Kalafut, her entire team and everyone at Blue Pearl!

I give two stars because the doctors themselves are great. But wow. I had a couple terrible experiences with the front desk. Specifically, Desha. For that reason, I implore you: DO NOT GO HERE. BEWARE. I have never spoken to anyone who was more condescending and dismissive in my life. I'd hope people working in jobs where others might be distressed (e.g., bringing an animal in for an emergency) would be empathetic. Such is not the case at Blue Pearl. I talked to Desha after a serious of mistakes happened that were pretty terrible. Such as: - got erroneous call that my cat was ready to get picked up (only to wait 100+ minutes outside and miss a meeting due to their error). - got sent the wrong bill - front desk miscommunicated the type of prescription (liquid) that I needed a doctor to call into pharmacy (pills were called in) Desha was rude. Insincere. Condescending. And was literally telling me how I should act. I called this place, Blue Pearl, inept for these mistakes. She told me to stop being "disrespectful" by calling her colleagues inept. I never called one person inept. She put words in my mouth then. She’d do so again. I ended up talking to Desha's supervisor as I was getting nowhere with her. Her supervisor was amazing and assured me they'd do their best moving forward. She'd talk to Desha. Unfortunately, I had to bring my cat back a week later and dealt with Desha again. Blue Pearl said they'd see him in a few minutes. After 25 passed, a woman outside told me she'd been waiting for 90+ minutes and was now going somewhere else. I called the front desk to ask if I could similarly expect to wait 90 minutes. Desha's first response? Telling me not to ask other clients how long they're waiting as it's different for each client. I told her I didn't ask. This woman overheard me telling my husband that this wait was starting to feel like the time I was here for almost 2 hours. She continued to be rude. She asked if I wanted to talk to her supervisor. She then put me on hold for 8 minutes. I never talked to a supervisor. I hung up. People like Desha should not work at a vet. I was disappointed that I had talked to her boss and was assured that changes would be made in the future. And then I encountered the same rudeness again. DO NOT GO HERE.

Blue Pearl Brooklyn diagnosed one of my dogs with cancer and removed her leg. They don't have an oncologist for 2 more weeks, so they set up a phone consult with the oncologist at the Manhattan location who Rx chemo. Unfortunately the Rx is coming via mail and won't be here for another week so, Blue Pearl being open 24 hours, should make getting a partial Rx that they originally sent in the meantime easy, right? No. Initially we were told they don't have it. When asked why would you send an invoice just yesterday for a drug you don't have, the response was, well, there's no oncologist here right now. It didn't matter that thousands had been spent there over the past 2 weeks and the dog needs it sooner rather than later. The bureaucracy was going to hold fast no matter what - no medication for the cancer patient. Cancer grows exceptionally fast in dogs, and Blue Pearl said it was already advanced. So treating quickly should be a priority, but no, no. Nobody on staff wants to "take responsibility" for giving a needed and already sent Rx so we will need to wait another week to start chemo. This increases the likelihood of the cancer metastasizing more. Thanks Blue Pearl for taking our money and then not following through on treatment. This place does not care about your furry family member. They're cruel and heartless and do not care one damn bit.

I want to thank Dr. Ally Yi Chen for her professionalism, knowledge, and comfort. I was away on vacation when I got a call that my dog was being taken to the ER. Dr. Chen explained his assessment and treatments thoroughly and didn’t pressure me into anything I didn’t want to do since I know my dog. I loved that she is very knowledgeable and professional about her job and saved me lots of money, since I was pressured by NY Dog Spa and hotel into making him stay overnight when he didn’t need to and they refused to pick him up. I’m happy that she comforted me and made me aware that my dog was in great hands. I can’t thank Dr. Chen enough for this experience.

My dog was unfortunately the victim of a dog attack from a much larger dog and we thought he was going to lose his life from the damage. The ER vets were professional, to the point, and very descriptive about all of the care and saved his life. Could not thank them enough

This place gets zero stars. Without going into my life story and my 8 week old bulldogs life story..I will keep it to the point. This place tried telling me my dog was dying and "recommended" me to get X-Rays, blood work, and an overnight hospital stay for my dogs persistent cough....All I needed was antibiotics and be out the door. I spent two hours outside waiting for them to do nothing. After I told the vet I respectfully decline her moneymaking up-coding recommendation I was given the antibiotics my pup desperately needed. Now a week later he is doing AMAZING with no cough. I also gave them his paperwork and they didn't even look at it. I had to remind them. Abstract: I could write a novel on my poor experience. This place is a rip off and will try to pull on your heart strings to get more money out of you when you don't need the treatment. Don't trust them. I feel bad for the people who have been taken for a ride. RIP to honesty and morality.

The entire staff at Blue Pearl Downtown went above and beyond to help our cat during his sudden illness. Dr. Blutinger and Dr. Griego-Valles both provided a level of care that I honestly didn't realize was available to pets. (And was honestly better than I'm used to receiving as a human.) Their honest and frequent communication went above and beyond what we ever could have expected, which helped us confidently make the right decisions for our cat's care. Even during such a traumatic time, we remain thankful for the wonderful level of care that Blue Pearl gave our beloved cat. We're extremely grateful for all the help the entire team provided, and if we were ever in the same situation again, we wouldn't hesitate to return to Blue Pearl.

It’s been a long day. If I could rate these nasty people 0 or negative stars I would. We discovered my friend had passed away and we found her and her doggy this morning. The doggy is not in good shape. She is 16 and had been left without food or water for at least 5 days. She is hanging on for dear life. After calling vets, we were told to come here for an emergency. We carefully brought the precious pup to this location and they turned us down. She is in terrible pain and unable to control her bodily functions and they told us to go somewhere else. These people do not care about animals and are not fit to be called a Pet Hospital.

Had to take cat here for emergency at 4 AM. They actually answer the phone at that hour, which is reassuring - when your pet is extremely distressed you don't want to play around going somewhere that might not be open. The intake lady was competent, could have been more helpful with explaining the forms, as I had no idea if they were waiting on me to finish paperwork before helping my pet and I was obviously stressed. (They do wait on you doing the paperwork to start on your pet, they'll call up and ask for a pre-auth in the rare event they do). But I have reasonable expectations for people that take overnight shifts.. I had to have my pet put down, staff was good at explaining what happened, and gave me plenty of space with my pet afterwards, I didn't feel rushed once. All staff seemed like they truly love animals. So, a good option if your pet probably needs to be put down and its 4 AM.
