The Merrick Veterinary Group is such a great place! The doctors/staff are truly amazing people. The way they take care of my dog makes me so happy. They helped him get through a lot. My cat is 20 years old just recently started having health issues. Rushed her there immediately and they took the best care of her. My cat Noel was legit on her death bed the day we took her to the Merrick Veterinary Group. They took her under their wings and gave her the treatment she needed. A few days later we started seeing a big difference in her. But I believe if it wasn’t for them my cat Noel would not be here right now. I’m beyond thankful for them. Xoxo

The service and care of our pet was excellent. We were also happy to find that Merrick Vet Group is associated with our last vet the Roslyn-Greenvale Vet Group. The familiarity was very comforting as we were hesitant to find a new vet after our move and were considering driving all the way back for his recent visit.

DO NOT BRING YOUR BIRD HERE. If you are thinking of choosing this avian vet, DON'T DO IT. The receptionist and nurse are very friendly and none of my ill-will is towards them. They were both very courteous. But this avian vet, who claims he has been treating birds for 40 years, is extremely rude. My main vet was booked for the week, and my bird needed a beak trimming badly. So I specifically scheduled an appointment here for a nail and beak trim. I stated that over the phone, and I wrote it down on the sign in form. I was told that if this couldn't be done, they would give me a call ahead of time. I received no phone call. So I brought my bird in. This vet refused to trim my bird's beak and nails without putting him under sedation. Sedation would've cost me an additional $90. He said, "You just come here and I don't know anything about you." Poor excuse. Last time I checked, first time visits are always strangers. My bird is battling ABV, an incurable disease that causes birds to waste away and supportive care is the only option. Therefore he is weak. He agreed my bird's beak would just continue to grow until he could no longer eat food comfortably or preen correctly. Despite this, he told me to take him to a vet he's already been to because they "know him better". This "avian" vet did not even know what 'ABV' stood for, which told me straight away I was in the wrong doctor's office. I wasn't expecting anything extensive by going there, just a quick trimming. From my experience, if a vet sees an animal in need, they do anything they can to help them out, they don't just send them off because they don't want to deal with the trouble. This man did not greet me hello. He did not even say goodbye, just walked right out of the room lazily. Not once did he show any form of welcoming to me. The moment he stepped in the room he expressed an informal demeanor. He was very curt in his explanations and his voice reeked of disregard. I've seen MANY avian veterinarians across the island and NYC and I have never encountered one so dismissive. I don't care how long you've been treating birds, I know my birds better than anyone. I have found this to be true on multiple occasions. I have never been so disgusted. All he did was weigh my bird, and he still had the audacity to charge me $50 for an EXAM, which I did not ask for. I refused to pay this bill. $50 for simply WEIGHING my bird, which I do in my own home, weekly. Half the time we were in the room he was just staring at my bird in complete silence. If this qualifies as a proper exam, this "avian" veterinarian should lose his license. Absolutely ridiculous. He was right about one thing though, I should not have wasted my time here.

Always prompt service, extremely friendly staff, I feel confident in taking my dog there for proper care

There cannot be more knowledgeable, and expert Doctors on Long Island than Dr. May and Dr. Marder. They've been right about some critical decisions when every other vet was wrong, and saved my Leo's life. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Dr does not have the greatest bedside manner

The Merrick Veterinary Group was able to take my dog in as an emergency and help with everything we needed. They don’t try and sell you on anything that is not necessary and explain everything very well.

I have used Merrick Veterinary Group since we got our first puppy "Spike" back in 2000. They have always been there for us. We could call them, no matter what, and they would address our needs. Unfortunately after 17 years we had to put our beloved Spike to sleep back in 2017. We contacted Dr. Villa, it was a Saturday and they were getting ready to close for the day. Dr. Villa and her staff told us they would wait as long as it would take to bring him in! As any animal lover knows, it is the hardest thing in the world to do! We can't thank them enough for all that they did for us during our time of grief. We have since gotten another puppy, "Zipper" and we couldn't be happier having Dr. Villa and her staff as his veterinarian group! I highly recommend them!

We have been using the Merrick Vet Group since 1994 - The doctors, techs & staff are excellent & treat my dog Mollie with love (and my dog Fluffy that passed away at 15 1/2, they were her Vet as well) - as she requires special treatment for anxiety from being an abused puppy. They always manage to squeeze us in if we have an urgent matter and I love the reminder emails about her shots that are needed. We are loyal to Dr. May & Dr Villa and trust they will always care for Mollie like their own dogs... I am a real person & am not receiving any compensation for writing this HONEST & TRUTHFUL review of their practice. I believe is giving credit, when credit is due.

We have been taking our pets to The Merrick Vet Group for over 20 years....They have seen us through good times and bad. Through the years,we have found them to be caring professionals.A special shout out to Dr Villa and Darlene who were always there for us.Currently ,for the first time in 40 years our house is without pets. You can be sure that when we do decide to adopt a pet again ,we will without a doubt return to The Merrick Vet Group. Laura and Tim Gallagher.

I simply will not ever bring my many animals anywhere else. The staff is amazing and the doctors are top notch. You just get a sense that they really care. My cat was having coughing fits and I brought her to two other vets before Dr. May correctly diagnosed and treated her. They also treated my dog who had cancer. I highly recommend Merrick Cet group if you want experience, professionalism and caring.

When I moved to town last summer, my dog came in the house with hives all over. I called a few doctors in the area and no one would see me same day (it was a Saturday). I called Merrick Vet Group and they were the ONLY place that actually asked me if the dog was breathing ok. They also saw me within the hour. I knew from that moment that this was going to be our new office. They have been phenomenal since. They found a new patient for life :)

Excellent care by the techs and the Doctors. Doctor Marder's compassion and easy touch make the pet comfortable and at ease and his knowledge is unmatched. All the Doctors and staff are top notch!

My Cocker Spaniel Chrissy would run toward the door of this Veterinary office because she honestly loved going there. And that was for twelve years. It's clear that Dr.Villa and the staff are knowledgeable professionals who really enjoy the patients in their care and do everything they can to ensure their good health.I've continued to take my Cockerpoo there for the past two years as well because I have trust in them to do the best for my pet in every situation. I’ve had very positive experiences at Merrick Veterinary Group. They have cared for my two cats for over 12 years. When my one cat got very ill, they handled the situation with compassion and honestly. I would highly recommend!

Merrick Veterinary Group was there for my girl, Sasha, when she was hurt after falling during a snow storm. My girl's regular Vet could not be bothered. My girl loves everyone in the office. It's so easy to take her to the Vet. Everyone is just so nice and so knowledgeable.

Dr. May and the entire staff are great! I brought my Golden Retriver to Dr.May at 10 weeks old and he cared for Buddy until his passing at 10. He is an incredible Dr. with great caring and compassion. Very knowledgeable and has a special way with animals. I would Never of had it any other way. Buddy loved him and the staff as well. I would highly recommend Dr.May.....to anyone who is ready for a dog or cat in their lives.

Dr. Jon May provides the best care for our pets. He is extremely knowledgeable- a veritable walking encyclopedia of pets!
