I took my puppy for her wellness check there The staff is very friendly. They explained me all my options for immunization based on the life style that the dog will have. The prices are reasonable. I definitely recommend it.

I have been going to the place for several years. the staff is great! my dog is a boxer and is getting up there in years dr. fixman has been great with Roxy and has giving us the best way s to approach several situations we had to encounter's has a very good bedside matter with Roxy Jen at front desk is very nice and always there to help and answer questions. I never had a bad experience going there all my years! ALL 3 of my dogs went there. I would recommend South Putnam Hospital. from Roxy &jags& Mercedes!! Happy Holidays to all !

Unfortunately have to warn people about this vet. I scheduled a well visit for my cat mentioning I need to travel with her and am looking to get a certificate of health. I promptly filled out both online surveys, and included her FULL medical history dating back to when she was a kitten (before I even owned her). Vaccines, spay, medical conditions, all in a big file. The morning of the appointment I was running slightly late (under 10 mins) so I called to ask if they could still take her, because I've worked at a vet and understand how busy it can get. They said there might be a wait but they would be able to get her in, I expressed my gratitude. Exactly 9 minutes late I pulled up to curbside and called to let them know I was here, but was put on a hold. When the receptionist picked up she said "so HE (my cat is a girl!) has been waking up in the night?" I said Im sorry can you please double check you have the right record because my cat is a girl and has not been waking up in the night, this is a well visit for a travel certificate. She sounded very surprised and claimed I didn't include that when I scheduled the appointment, which I absolutely did in both forms. After holding for about another 10 mins she picked up again and told me I needed specific forms from the Brazilian Embassy to fill out, which obviously is not true looking at the APHIS and Brazilian embassy website. She condescendingly told me to "look at the website" which I clearly HAVE, and she said they couldn't do the deworming treatment today (which is the first step to being issued a pet certificate for international travel). I calmly asked why that is, and she said rudely first of all your appointment was at 9, and secondly we don't have ANY of your pet's medical records. I calmly said, ma'am I sent them all already exactly where it said to upload them in your online form. I asked why if they were unclear on the destination of travel they didn't contact me in advance, and she had no answer for that. I know the answer is, they hastily mixed up the forms I carefully submitted, and did not even look at what I specified as the reason for my cat's visit. I understand things are crazy when you are understaffed, but I did nothing wrong and was treated incredibly rudely. If I didn't catch that they had the WRONG records for her she may have been administered an incorrect medication and possibly gotten hurt. Regardless of the circumstances, if you're providing an essential service to people's pets, you need to be more careful, and certainly less rude.

Extremely horrible experience. Rude vet tech and rude front end. Vet tech had a problem with dog peeing on the floor (it’s a dog!) and was judge mental about lifestyle rather than just providing proper education. Front end staff was also complaining about other patient’s right infront of us. Very unprofessional staff. Much needed attitude adjustments before I ever think of returning. However, Doctor was sweet and very professional.

Staff care deeply about your pets and work with you on best options if you are financially constrained. Very kind and knowledgeable staff--from receptionists to vet techs to doctors.

I called South Putnam in an emergency situation after many other vets and hospitals had turned me away saying they aren’t accepting new patients. My cat had been vomiting for a few days and not eating. South Putnam fit me in the next day! They were very kind and explained everything. They also made sure that I agreed to all of the charges before conducting any tests or procedures. When we left, they thoroughly explained his medication and food and followed up in the next few days to check in. When they heard he still wasn’t 100%, they offered to call back in another few days. I think Kitty Franklin, his siblings and I have found our new Vet! Thank you so much for taking such good care of him.

The vets and staff are empathetic and they make time to listen to your concerns, ask and answer questions. They are excellent at communication and breaking down what you need to know about your pet's health. The vets are supportive and will help you make the right decisions for your pet's care. They are well-run and organized, even during the pandemic. Most importantly, it seems that they care about your pet as much as you do.

UNFRIENDLY & UNPROFESSIONAL!!!..They quick to assume they told me instructions before arriving to their facility during this corona crisis, but the receptionist never did. As soon as I arrived, they didn't want open the door and their vet technician eventually came out and took my dog but pulled and dragged him, knowing his nails were long. I only brought him to get his nails clip. Their weirdo vet came outside begun saying she going to cancelled the appt if I don't sit in car. I told I just wait in the woods as long as they learn how to talk to people professionally. Lastly, they called me and said I have to pay by credit card only instead cash. Lucky, I brought my cards with me. This is not the 1st time they disappointment me but definitely the last time. They need to learn how to be more friendly and communicative with their customers. REAL JERKS!!!!! There plenty other places to go like Mahopac clinic or Guardian hosp. They seemed more nice and professional.

I would give zero stars if i could. I brought my cat in for bleeding on his back leg. They charged me $990.09 dollars and told me out of courtesy that they didn't charge me for his bandage. They sedated him to what i believed was done so they could figure out why he got the cut and they took blood work, but most importantly to stop the bleeding. When i got home my cat was covered in blood drips were pooling beneath him. The vet assured me it was only oozing as if just plasma. No my cat was bleeding a lot! I immediately had to go to a different vet who actually took care of him. I want my money back!

I've been taking my dogs here for the last 25 years.My dogs are well taken care of by the staff here and I have had a couple of emergencies over the years and they have always gotten us right in.You may pay just a little more to come here but when you need them they are there for you and you pets.Top notch veterinarians you can't go wrong bringing your pets here.

BEST OF BEST! THE RECEPTIONS ARE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HAVE NEVER FAILED TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS AND ADDRESS MY CONCERNS. THE TECHNICIANS ARE SECOND TO NONE, GENTLE AND TRUE ANIMAL LOVERS. I HAD MY FIRST FEMALE GOLDEN RETRIEVER SPAYED LAST WEEK, THE DOCTOR WAS VERY REASSURING AND FOLLOWED UP WITH SEVERAL CALLS BEFORE AND AFTER. SOUTH PUTNAM HAS CARED FOR MY LITTLE GIRL, CHELLY, SINCE 9 WEEKS OF AGE. I WAS REFERRED BY DAUGHTER WHO HAS BEEN USING THEM FOR OVER 8 YEARS. MY WIFE AND I HAVE HAVE ENJOYED THE COMPANIONSHIP OF NUMEROUS DOGS, RESCUED, ADOPTED AND PURCHASED. SOUTH PUTNAM ANIMAL IS THE BEST VETERINARIAN SERVICE I HAVE DEALT WITH IN OUR 43 YEARS TOGETHER. CHELLY IS MY 5TH GOLDEN RETRIEVER, 1ST FEMALE, AND HAS RECOVERED LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED. BORN MARCH 31, 2019

They have helped us with our dog who was an old boy and became very sick at the end of his life. They were extremely helpful with all of their recommendations and have a lot of options they go over to help you through the difficult time. My cat is about 6 now and he just got his shots updated and they were super good with him and quick. And now I'm bringing my puppy! I trust the office and all they do and recommend them!!! Another big plus is the app they have for all your pets needs and information, you can even make appointments through it and set reminders.

This place is the most expensive I have ever encountered! Also, not impressed with the cleanliness of the exam room. I will try to find a more affordable vet office that cares more about healing the animal rather than squeezing every penny for procedures or medicine that may not be necessary...

Dr Heiber is a wonderful caregiver for our dog. She is responsive, patient, and thorough. She obviously cares deeply! Staff is always great and so helpful.

COVID-19 restrictions had left me apprehensive about bringing my dogs in for veterinary appointments. I was concerned that since I couldn't speak directly with the vet, details would get lost, and I wasn't happy about handing over the leash of a beloved dog. The visit couldn't have been better, however. Dr. Begin was very thorough and spoke with me on the phone a long while, answering all my questions, explaining ramifications, the how-to details of medications she was prescribing, and winding it up with a positive outlook. My dog must've been just as pleased as I, as she didn't come back nervous or trembling, as I'd feared. Her nails were trimmed, and she'd been well-treated. This has always been my experience with the vets at SPAH--especially Doctors Fixman, Begin and Heiber. Incredibly helpful, kind and knowledgeable.

We have known Kathy H., the owner for at least 40 + years and my wife and I wouldn't be taking our many dogs to her clinic unless there were top shelf staff knowing what they are doing in all circumstances. I can't say enough positive things about all these people, there knowledge, compassion, sensitivity, etc.
