Why would you have an emergency animal hospital with no doctor.

We needed our dog put down on a holiday weekend. I didn't want him to suffer another two days but was hesitant after reading a couple of reviews. We couldn't have asked for three nicer people. They were friendly and compassionate and let my wife and myself inside for the procedure.

Care was well organized and the services included laboratory analysis for blood on site.

WOW! The person who answers the phone is truly horrible. I honestly never leave reviews and rarely hope to get someone removed from their position at work. but the woman answering phones is genuinely mean, annoyed, and unpleasant. I called asking if a lump on the back of my cats leg should be considered an emergency and she was immediately furious that I would even ask. Demanding " how would I know?!". After gently asking if there was anyone else I could talk to that could answer the question she repeated that she had no idea and to not go to the internet for the answers. (which leaves me completely without answers) I asked again if their was anyone there who I could ask a question too and she hung up on me midsentence. Its January 3rd 2022 at 2:30, Ive just gotten off the phone. and the person who is answering the phones right now should genuinely be fired. made a stressful situation worse and made me afraid to come to this place.

They were good to my dog but he was in there for all of 5mins and they charged me $300 the prices are just crazy to help ur fur babies in an emergency.

The “vet” was incredibly rude to us, and didn’t know anything about cat diseases. Absolutely pathetic. This isn’t the first time, either. And we’re cat breeders. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Very professional kind and helpful. I felt confident in their skills and they are open during off hours. Saints!

So extremely unprofessional and rude. They need to fix whoever answers the phones. They cut you off mid-sentence and all but hangup on you. Refused to help with an injured pet I found unless I fully agreed to cover it monetarily and then offered absolutely no alternative resources. I understand that medical attention needs to be financially covered, but the attitude was so unbelievably callous and it truly gave the impression they didn’t actually care about the animal at all. I will be warning all friends and neighbors to find alternatives in case their pets have emergency situations. I would absolutely not trust this place to provide good service.

They put us at ease and were very professional. Nice to deal with when our fur baby was sickly and we were feeling helpless!

Waited in the parking lot for 4 hours. No came to check on our sick animal. I called twice and very polity asked for an estimate of time, only to be met with a rude and unconcerned attitude. I'll travel to Newburgh next time we have an emergency.

Animal Emergency Clinic was a caring and helpful oasis when our little dog was attacked twice at the dog park in Hudson. They don't get five stars because it was a very long wait but they were the only 24 hour vet open within an hour's drive. I don't blame them that with only one doctor on the overnight that there were many very sick animals in front of us and that sometimes those pups needed to jump the long line. After living in cities for most of my life where there are so many more options It took some adjustments to patiently wait. Once I got my head straight I observed. The the four hours that I spent in my car in front of the clinic gave me a front row seat to how carefully they triaged the very sick patients and supported owners whose dogs were in much worse shape than mine. Over the course of our visit I saw many extremely sick pups, two of whom did not make it. It put things in perspective. When the vet was finally ready for us, they were quick and thorough. They documented the wounds from the assault and stitched up the injuries. When listening to our little one's lungs, something didn't sound right and with x-rays they documented additional internal contusions. They went above and beyond and were gentle and caring all in a very stress filled and sad environment. They thanked me repeatedly for being patient. I'm deeply grateful for the professionalism and care they showed.

They were amazing, calm and reassuring. I would love to take my dog back but I hope it's under less serious circumstances.

Sick dog. They were wonderful. Checked to see if he was in need of immediate treatment. He didn't. When they took him in they kept us informed. Did bloodwork to assess his condition. Sent us home knowing they were thorough.

When a member of your family is sick you want the best care possible. The staff deliver. Unfortunately we needed their service and I'm glad that we were recommended there. I would recommend them without hesitation and have complete confidence in every person that I met and talked with. Money well spent and they earned it. I can't thank them enough for the service and guidance.

Worst experience ever! My diabetic dog had multiple seizures and almost died so we rushed her here where they wanted to run $1,800 worth of tests after we knew the seizures were caused by her diabetes. After we said no to running the tests, they kicked us out and told us to go home and monitor her there. While I was in the car holding my dog, she was having another seizure and one of the staff witnessed it but just slammed the car door on me and walked away. We were charged $350.00 and they did nothing for us, not even stabilize her. We then brought her to the Poughkeepsie emergency clinic and they were great. She had another seizure upon arrival and after they stabilized her, she didn't have anymore seizures. They were very kind, professional and caring at the Poughkeepsie clinic and monitored her overnight. If you love your pet, you will not take them to the Kingston clinic where they try to take all of your money, do nothing for you and kick you out. Stay far away!

My dog had an emergency and required stitches. I brought him in and they sent him home without a collar to avoid my dog having access to licking at it. They refused. They told me it was unnecessary and to just use a T shirt? My dog got at the wound overnight, ripping out the stitches and when I went back the next morning I was greeted by Leah. Not only did she treat me incredibly rude, she was extremely unwilling to help my dog and demanded further payment of $65 & should I request a collar, that would be another $40 - on top of the $400 I had already previously paid. Leah told me to go to Petco, hung up on me and my poor dog is suffering. Do not use this clinic. Leah has no business treating clients in this manner - no compassion whatsoever.

Our veterinarian was away for a week when our elderly cat began passing blood and collapsing on the floor. We knew it was her time. After calling every veterinarian in our county to have her euthanized, we were given the same response, we do not accept new patients. We then called the Animal Emergency Clinic in Kingston. This was around 6:00 pm. The person answering the phone was a great help giving us details of what to do when we arrived. It was about a 45 minute drive. When we arrived we notified them we were parked outside and within 10 minutes they came out to get our cat. They were very caring and again explained to us our next steps. After we took care of the paperwork and cost ( worth every penny ), we went in to say our goodbyes. Everyone we dealt with was sympathetic, sincere and professional. It was a very good experience under unpleasant circumstances.

Took a long drive (40 minutes) to the Kingston location when our usual er location (Poughkeepsie) was tied up with emergency surgeries (???????????? I hope those babies are ok) super late on a Friday into Saturday of a holiday weekend (1-2am) and were treated with the upmost of care and curtesy. They look very good care of our baby (10 yr old min pin with a flair for the dramatic. Thought, that could also be me ???? ). From my first phone call, to when we left with a much happier and comfortable little lady, we felt safe and insured that our love was in the right hands. Like any pet owner, we hate having to make such visits but the staff made it so much less stressful for us all. ????

I can’t say enough great things about them!...Late in the evening on MLK holiday our 16+ yr old can couldn’t hold down his food. Our normal vet practice does not have on call, I called another local vet whom I had not dealt with before, she felt he needed emergency care and treatment and recommended them. I called, spoke to a tech, got my cat ready for the 40 min trip and took him here. I can’t say enough good things or thank Dr. Z and his techs enough that night. Our diabetic cat’s sugar was up over 600 and he was in critical condition in keto acidosis, Dr. K explained everything in detail and started treatment immediately. By morning when we picked him up to take him to our reg vets, he was doing much better, they took their time to gradually lower his sugar level, bring him out of diabetic acidosis, and stabilize him and for that we will be for ever grateful!!...Thank you so much Dr. Z and all the staff!!!...I highly recommend this facility if a pet emergency arise’s!!!

I’m sure they practice fine medicine. But their euthanasia protocol is very poor and insensitive. Especially in this pandemic. Family dog of 10.5 years needed to be put to sleep recently. Only one person allowed to actually be there for their dog to be put to sleep... I understand the circumstances, but that is just not acceptable. I know plenty of other emergency vets, even regular vets that allow up to 4 people into the room for those precious last moments. Onto my next problem, the person who came out to get him from the parking lot seemed like it was his first day, walks up to 3 crying people and a dog and doesn’t say a word besides “this is [dogs name], I can take him inside.” Where is your empathy? Not one “I’m so sorry.” Don’t work at a vet or help with euthanasia’s if you don’t have an ounce of empathy in your body. This was the worst, hardest day of my life and the least you could do is make me feel like you actually care and that it isn’t a business transaction for you. Next problem- you get put in a regular old exam room, the dog is wheeled in strapped to a gurney (when he could walk just fine) with only a thin blanket on it. His last moments are supposed to be comfortable and peaceful, not some cold bare room where he’s strapped to a rolling table... last problem-the vet walks in and pretty much goes right for his catheter and starts giving the drugs, could you give me a minute to say goodbye? Then kinda just confirms he’s gone and walks out, no “I’m so sorry for your loss” or anything. My god... such poor handling of euthanasia.

I was impressed with the thoroughness of the care our senior cat, Zoe, received when she needed emergency treatment. The vet did a great job explaining everything to me. Thank you.

Highly recommend. Vet was extremely knowledgeable spot on with his diagnosis. Downside was the long wait, but to be expected during an emergency visit during the pandemic. All and all would definitely bring my dogs to this office again in an emergency.

I didn't even make it into this establishment because the woman on the phone tried to talk down my dogs issues prior to even seeing it and then watered down her services verbally saying "well I don't really know what we are going to do here". The woman was more concerned with not being bothered and explaining the price of the visit rather than doing her job. Then I took the time to read the reviews and turned around at 5am on the New York state thruway exit and went home. If the woman answering the phone doesn't have a medical license: she should do her clerical job and leave the medical work to people with medical licensing. Gob bless anyone who is forced into showing up to this clinic. For me its a no.
