Is it expensive when your pet needs surgical treatment? Yes. Did Gold Coast ALSO provide excellent doctors, discussions about treatment AND options, plus daily reports and truly caring customer service as well? Absolutely! I had to leave my cat in GC's care over the holidays, but I was so reassured by their attention to me and esp. to my cat during his 3 week stay. And now Indy is HOME!!!! And doing great! Thank you Dr. K and everyone at Gold Coast (and West Hills, too!).

It's an amazing team and I really enjoyed working with them. Did a remote consultations getting a second opinion and was extremely pleased with the team's responsiveness, knowledge and support. Dr. Blass went above and beyond helping me understand all the details I wanted to uncover and answering all my questions. I wish I'd know and was close to them a year ago...

First of all scheduling an appointment was easy and front desk is really helpful. We were here for my boy Behri's heart problem. Turned out we got misdiagnosed and were under wrong medications for a long time. It is sad but with our dear cardiologist; it seems like we can handle well in the future. Dr. Keith Blass is quiet confident and clear about his diagnose and treatment options. He answered all our questions and spent half an hour with us. He is easy to stay in touch, patience and kind. After his examination Behri still wanted to be pet by him, which is quite rare. Our medications were split to the half for dosage by Yasmin. She was thoughtful ☘️. I don't live nearby but I can easily say that, whenever we need a specialist, this center will be our first option. I am glad they are exist and we found them!

I've only gone once. Staff is very nice and you can tell they care about your pet. Ok PUPDATE! My dog is doing better and his physical therapy and accupuncture treatment is helping. Dr.Donato is really helping my boy with accupuncture treatment. She is very knowledgeable and takes time to really know your pet. Highly recommend.

We absolutely love and trust Dr. Hunley who has been treating our beloved 8-year old yellow Labrador Retriever for cancer. You can’t imagine the surprise and horror we felt when discovering our dog has 2 forms of cancer during a routine annual exam with our regular vet. We had a difficult time finding an oncologist who would immediately see our dog. We found Dr. Hunley who contacted our regular vet for her records, reviewed them and scheduled an appointment for us almost immediately. He is knowledgeable, thorough and does a fantastic job explaining everything in detail in layman’s terms. We love that he is encouraging and positive. Her mast cell tumor was surgically removed and thankfully low grade. Even when her lymphocyte count hadn’t dropped as much as he had hoped following her first month of treatment with prednisone, he was still positive and reassuring about her treatment and prognosis. After adding the chemotherapy, her lymphocytes have steadily declined. We are so grateful for all that he is doing. There is never a wait. He is always on schedule. The staff is wonderful and the fees are reasonable. If your pet needs an oncologist, I highly recommend this compassionate veterinarian.

It is hard to put into words the gratitude we have for Dr. Hunley, the oncologist, and the Gold Coast team. I cannot speak to the other physicians, but I would 100% return if I needed their services based off of our experience with Dr. Hunley and his colleagues. In June 2020, our sweet girl Kit was diagnosed with lymphoma after we discovered her swollen lymph nodes. Dr. Hunley was able to see us quickly - even despite COVID. During our first consultation, Dr. Hunley very clearly and transparently explained all available treatment options, the potential outcomes, and costs associated with each. He actually took time to answer all of our questions and while he did not sugarcoat anything, he had so much compassion. We proceeded with the CHOP protocol for Kit and successfully completed the treatment. She remained stable for about 2 months, and then her lymph nodes swelled up again. We continued to see Dr. Hunley during her brief remission, and when we knew the cancer was returning, Dr. Hunley walked us through our remaining options. He was always so accommodating to setting up appointments. Finally, when we knew there was nothing left to do, we let Kit live out her days and said goodbye on 7/21/21. Dr. Hunley made himself available on standby if we needed anything during this time. Dr. Hunley and the Gold Coast team gave us the greatest gift - time. We had another year to make memories with our sweet girl and will always cherish the memories we had. Thank you so much to Dr. Hunley and the Gold Coast team, for your hard work and compassion.

I would like to express my gratitude for the great care my dog Jax has received from Dr. Hunley and his great team, Jess R., Angie O and Erin. They all took great care of Jax during our visit and Dr. Hunley spent so much of his time thoroughly explaining everything and addressing my concerns. He is an extremely knowledgeable and optimistic doctor who truly cares about animals and their owners. I would highly recommend Dr. Hunley and his caring team. Keep up the great work!

Had to get a double surgery for my fur baby. Dr. Levy was excellent! He was gentle, yet clear and prepared us well. The staff was exceptional, all true animal lovers. As expected, my dog stayed overnight after his procedures. They literally have rotisserie chicken to feed the pups who refuse food and even inquired as to his likes and dislikes when he didn't eat. They gave us a range for the estimate for the services and it was on the low end of that, we thought it would be more. I highly recommend Gold Coast for anyone whose pup needs surgery.

Had the misfortune of choosing this place for my artificial insemination. Not only was my dog NOT pregnant AFTER spending over 2000 dollars!!! but she also changed her behavior and attitude for months before returning to her loving self. It had to have been something tremendously traumatic because she tore through her harness

My dog had surgery elsewhere, but her biopsy came back as melanoma and the surgeon recommended either a wait-and-see approach, or to contact an oncologist to get their opinion. I came here because I reached out to several places regarding the melanoma vaccine, and this place called me back within minutes and the person on the phone was very nice. We had an appointment for an exam with Dr. Hunley the oncologist, and he went over the biopsy results and what the numbers meant. He was very clear and made it all very easy to understand. He was also very nice and understanding. We are now in the process of administering the vaccine doses to my dog, which are done in a series of 4 shots and then a booster shot every 6 months. In case anyone is researching cost for the melanoma vaccine, my initial invoice was broken down as $175 for the consultation, and $700 for the first shot, for a total of $875. The included photos are of the cancer lump prior to being surgically removed.

Would give zero stars if I could...Be careful they don’t say the full price when you call and ask how much a procedure will cost and when you actually do the procedure the cost is double then what they told you, avoid them if you can...

Knee surgery didn't go right. Hugh lump on knee following surgery. Follow up cost additional. Misconstrued my concerns at every turn. Incorrect diagnoses, no concern on quality of repair, no collaboration between doctors, didn't have equipment needed to investigate, and wanted us to pay full price on everything to investigate. In my opinion there are a hundred reasons to go somewhere else with better quality care. Don't know how they got so many good reviews, when everything they did seemed to be aimed at getting more money out of you.

Dr Blass is not only a highly skilled and knowledgeable doctor but what sets him apart is his depth of compassion an kindness, that not only far exceeds most doctors but in my opinion most human beings. Thank you Dr.Blass for making the last moments with Brandi who is and always will be a deep and precious love in my life, gentle and peaceful. ????????

I had the pleasure of working with Dr.Rosenburg. It seemed impossible to find a correct diagnosis for my boy Soldier. Being an English Bulldog, it seemed like a never ending battle to the right solution. I went to 3 other places on the island to try and find the proper answer for my boy's issues. He was getting consistent fevers, became lethargic and was not eating. He began to develop heavy skin rashes and chunks of skin/hair became to peel off. I finally decided to stop wasting my money on the lower tiered, low quality vets and called in the big guns at Gold Coast. Dr. Rosenburg was thorough, consistent and very professional in his diagnosis. After numerous blood and skin tests, he finally gave me the answer I'd been looking for. I now have a grasp on what the issues at hand are, and can continue to treat it properly. Very professional staff, great doctors and phenomenal follow up. They showed great interest in checking up on my boy and continue to do so. There is no doubt this was the more expensive route, but if I'd chosen this path in the beginning, I would have saved much more on the useless vet visits to the other incompetent professionals. Well worth the travel, time and money spent. Would highly recommend Gold Coast and Dr. Rosenburg!

Dr. Carolyn Margolis is the only certified theriogenologist (reproductive specialist) in the NYC area and I'm so glad she's a part of Gold Coast Veterinary. Dr. Margolis is knowledgeable and responsive. It's been a pleasure working with her!

well this place was so wondererful and professional folks it's never easy taking you fur family member to a specialest because you gotten not good news that's why you go to a specialist well my pup is not out of the woods but the doctor had a different opinion of what another doctor stated what was wrong she is sick but not at level 10 which one doctor stated(at a place i wasnt happy with from the first person i talk to to the last) more like level 1 and holding i know i will out live her but gold coast center had me leaving there a 1000 more times feeling better when i got there and the little things letting me lift her out of the car and walking towards the door while a staff member held her lead as we got near the door i headed back to the jeep because as we all know most places we still can't go in so this little thing made it so much easier for my pup to be seen and she came back out not stress at all which means alot handing her off to people you never met and giving them blind trust they will treat her with kid gloves can't say enough about gold coast center for veterinary outstanding in everyway possible take you fur family members tell all the people you know that need a specialist go there you won't be sorry

In June we received the heartbreaking news from our vet that our beloved 12 year old dog Maverick was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma in his mouth. After our vet recommended jaw removal surgery we decided to get a second opinion at Gold Coast Center for Veterinary Care. I reached out to them based on the reviews that I had read here, and because they had the ability to give Maverick 24 hour care after surgery. I am so thankful that we found Gold Coast and specifically Dr. Kravitz and Dr. Hunley. From my very first phone call to Gold Coast we felt that we were in the very best hands. The girls at the front desk (Kristin, Shaunna, and Jessica) are lovely and were so helpful and kind to us every time we called. Maverick had his initial consultation with Dr. Kravitz. After his appointment, Dr. Kravitz was kind enough to come outside and spend 15 minutes speaking with us (on a very hot day in July I might add) to discuss her examination and her recommendations going forward. She discussed the benefits and downsides of proceeding with the jaw removal surgery in a very open and honest manner and answered all of our questions. Ultimately, with her help we decided that surgery was not the best route for Maverick to take and we were then referred to Dr. Hunley, Gold Coast's oncologist to discuss radiation therapy. Dr. Hunley spent almost 45 minutes on the phone with us during our consultation and answered every question and concern that we had. Most importantly, he reassured us that we were making a good choice for Maverick in opting for radiation therapy in lieu of an aggressive surgery. Dr. Hunley referred us to the amazing team at Animal Specialty Center (see my review there) where Maverick underwent a successful course of radiation treatment. His last treatment was two weeks ago and we are so thankful to report that he is back to his normal happy self! Maverick will now be under Dr. Hunley's care going forward and we feel nothing but confident that he received the very best care that we could have asked for. Thank you so much to the entire team at Gold Coast for helping to treat our beloved Maverick so that he can have the best possible quality of life as he lives out the rest of his golden years! - The DeFilippis Family

This is a post I’ve been meaning to write, but with the loss of my dog I’ve been upset and am still mourning. First- I want to thank the front end. From the secretary on them welcoming us the minute we walked in until the technicians..thank you. And Dr. Hunley, we want to say thank you so much for taking care of our boy for the 3 months he underwent therapy. We were anxious from the minute we walked in but you made us calm. Though our boy is no longer with us, I knew from the bottom of our hearts you meant well for him. Thank you and God bless.

It took me a week to calm down before I could even write this review. I'll start by saying that the support staff is wonderful, the tech and front desk staff were kind and caring so my negative review is in no way a reflection of them. However it's a shame that we had the experience we did with Dr. Levy. I was nervous to be assigned a consult with Dr. Levy already since the only review that really had anything negative mentioned him specifically, but I know we tend to be sensitive when it comes to our pets so I gave him the benefit of the doubt going in. Mistake. I would have made out better if I took the nearly $200 consult fee, lit a corner trash can on fire, and thrown it in to feed the flames. At least I wouldn't have wasted over 2 hours round trip, tolls on the GW, a day off of work, and precious time getting my poor dog better. All of this for the less than a 4 minute "consult" on the phone, while my dog was stressed out inside (why I'm not sure because it's still unclear whether Dr. Levy even looked at him). All to tell me what I already knew and treat me like an idiot while he was at it. The rude and condescending attitude was truly the cherry on top. I was well aware my dog Teddy was not yet a candidate for surgery, Teddy's case is complicated and I thought, being a specialty center, Gold Coast would help me establish whether he would even have potential as candidate for surgery and also help us get a treatment plan together so he would be stable enough to investigate further. Instead, the "consult" consisted -no joke- of Dr. Levy telling me to go find an internist because he wasn't doing scans or anything else on an uncontrolled diabetic dog. No mention of any thoughts he had about the ultrasound we made sure to have sent over or any clue as to how the liver issues might be impacting his glucose levels (we weren't sure whether his diabetes could even be controlled without surgery). When my husband and I asked Dr. Levy about the tumor/diabetes connection, his response was a brusque "I'm a surgeon okay, you need to find an internist." Okay, well, if you're qualified to perform liver surgery how do you not know what kind of metabolic issues might result from liver cancer? And if you're not qualified to perform liver surgery because you usually perform orthopedic surgery, why would you take a consult with this kind of patient in the first place? We sent all of our veterinarian's notes in advance, it was clear that my dog was an uncontrolled diabetic with a liver tumor and other liver abnormalities. Gold Coast's website states that there is an internist on staff and also a surgeon that had experience in oncological/soft tissue surgery. Had I known that there was no longer an internist in residence and that I would be speaking to someone who had no idea about how the tumor could be impacting my dog, I wouldn't have made an appointment there to begin with. Dr. Levy, I should mention, is not featured on the website. I don't know if he was rude because he thought I was stupid or wasting his time, but he wasted far more of our time than his and at least he was paid for it! Maybe condescension is his default, but I also have an advanced degree and regularly work with PhDs, including in animal science and biology, in my field of work and I have NEVER been spoken to that way. He rubbed me so far the wrong way should Teddy be cleared for surgery eventually there is NO WAY I would allow this guy to give him a rabies shot much less operate on him. I still can't believe we paid to stress our dog out and lose more time finding someone to help us for a 4 minute phone call. I'm sure there are great specialists at this facility, but my advice is, if you get assigned to see Dr. Levy ask for a reassignment. Even if he can help you, do you really want to see someone that seems to have actual disdain for people trying to help their pets when there are plenty of specialists in New York and the tri-state area that don't?
