Sadly, as a patient of many years who told all my friends to go here when they needed a good NYC vet, I can no longer recommend this office. I dont feel they have the animal's best interest at heart here anymore, sad to say.... The new doctors have been condescending, rushed and acting as if they were doing me a favor. My experience with Dr. Gowda was not one i would like to have again. The front desk used to be kind and accommodating and have been repl aced with people who sure seem as if they have never worked in a vet's office before. I used to have nothing bad to say about this office, which is a rarity at any sort of medical place in new york city, however now i cannot think of anything good. Time to find a new vet.

Soooo patient and sweet and thorough with my pup. I don’t live in the area but I go out of my way to come here because they make sure you get the same vet and they really try and learn about your animal so they can make the experience easy for them :) my dog has major “white coat syndrome” so they do their best to help him through the visit lol

Stay far, far away, especially from Amy Edelman, who is a vet there. She was scheduled to do an at-home euthanasia, an understandably stressful and painful experience, but when a discrepancy over the cost of services arose, she responded with the solution that she should go. (I was quoted a lower price over the phone and when I received the bill, 20 minutes before the scheduled procedure, they padded it with another $95 line item. I immediately called the office to clarify the cost, but they told me I'd have to speak to the doctor about it. I tried to do that when she arrived, and Dr. Amy Adelman didn't have the problem solving ability to see that in that situation, all she had to do was call the office, which was still open, and discuss it with whomever had authority to recify the situation. (Which, the office claimed was Amy Edelman herself.) Instead, she chose to run away. I spent the entire weekend preparing myself and my pet for this experience, trying to make my cat as comfortable as possible, and now I have to find another solution. Amy Edelman's lack of common sense and cruelty has made the whole process unnecessarily traumatic and I'm absolutely sick with regret that I ever found this place.

Warning- do not take your pet here. I took my 3 month old, 10 lb puppy here for a check up. During the check-up, the vet administered 3 shots in a row to my dog, without taking into account her size, age, or tolerance of vaccines. After being administered so many shots in one sitting, my puppy was incredibly ill for 3 days- throwing up, diarrea, not eating or drinking water. I ended up hospitalizing my dog and the new vet was shocked that her 10lb body had been given so many drugs at once- for reference, this is usually the dosage given to a 70lb dog in one sitting. This new vet also shared that this doctor should have their license taken away. This vet also charges a mandatory examination fee for a booster shot, which I learned after further research is incredibly unnecessary and just another way to overcharge their customers. Put simply they are in it for the money and do not care for the well being of your pets . Lastly, each and every staff member who works here is incredibly rude, condescending, and unprofessional. Among others, Amy Edelman is a horrific person- she is cruel, insensitive, and disrespectful I won't be returning here and I encourage anyone else who cares about the safety of their pet as well as their finances to do the same.

Let me tell you, I called over 15 places to see if anyone could treat my guinea pig and luckily I found VHVG. Thank you for helping my little guinea pig. You guys are amazing!

I am super happy with VHVG! They operate as a well oiled machine between two locations. All the vets and staff are kind, conscientious, and knowledgeable. I always feel like a respected client and know I’m providing the best care possible to my pets. Happy to recommend to others and will continue to do so.

Doctors are good! Issue is more with the ladies at the front desk. We recently moved into the area and started bringing our dog to Vinegar Hill. With the exception of the very first visit (during covid where the assistants would come to our car), the front desk receptionists are extremely unwelcoming. You'll walk into an empty waiting room and neither of them will say hello or ask if you need assistance. In fact, they'll look straight at you and say nothing before returning to their phone/computer. One was scrolling on Facebook as I stood at her window. Extremely unprofessional and it's hard to understand why.

Vet misdiagnosed my dog and she passed away! Reminder to all vets! Do not look at age when it comes to a dog, don’t label it cancer or and say to possibly put the dog down. Do your job as a vet (this is why you went to school for) to look at all possible diagnosis. Don’t just do it for the money and send us on our way. My dog had bloat which started with no blood low to the hind legs! I hope this vet sees this and next time a dog comes in she approaches it differently and saves them.????????

A lot of veterinary practices are dealing with staffing shortages and long wait times. We called 15 different vets trying to get an appointment and were referred to Vinegar Hill by one of the nurses at Greenpoint Vet Hospital. The vets and staff at Vinegar Hill are top notch. You get the sense that they've been doing this for a long time and see a lot of pets. Thank you Dr. Neuman!

Warm, friendly, caring staff. Couldn't have asked for better support during the pandemic when my cat was sick and dying.

Don't make the same mistake I did and ignore the bad reviews. Everyone who claims they are just in business for the money is absolutely correct and I can imagine many of the other reviews are fake. Also, do NOT accept a late appointment with them past 7:00PM because they will attempt to charge you $150 "after hours" fee even if you're 10 minutes late and it's not after hours. If anyone needs to know, I can walk you through how to dispute charges from them. I also recorded my conversation with the nasty receptionist if anyone wants to hear.

We took my girlfriend's hamster here when she became ill and they took very good care of her, always responded right away, and eased her gently into the end of her life. Would definitely recommend to pet owners

My dog had eye ulcers and my own vet would not see him. Vinegar Hill went above and beyond and saw my dog, treated his eye, his allergies and received expert advice and care. We have switched our business to here and look forward to having a healthy pet.

They were very helpful and considerate when my boyfriend's dog died. They sent him a message after expressing their condolences. Which, even if it was a generic email, was very much appreciated.

Love this vet. Their service is top notch and always informs you in great detail what is going on with your pet. Their prices can be a little high but other than that the service you get is above and beyond. It's worth the price. And it's in the heart of dumbo and near the waterfront

Such a great group of vets and techs! Their response time is unbelievable - from the mundane to emergencies, I have been thoroughly impressed with the care our pet rats have received from VH Vet Group. Highly recommend!
