This location is the best animal rescue service center! The staff is super attentive and very friendly. They immediately came to assist me and saved 3 stray kittens. Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking to save a furry friend.

I highly recommend applying to be a foster for AMA Animal Rescue! I recently started fostering for them and my experience with them and our foster dog has been nothing short of amazing! The entire staff is extremely responsible when placing their dogs with a foster family and they really take the time to learn about you, your lifestyle, your home (and your animals, If any) before recommending a dog for you to foster. They do meet and greets, they even had their trainers come to my place to help with the initial meet and greet between my dogs and our foster dog! They are also beyond accommodating - I live in NJ and they have food, medication and anything our foster dog would need, sent to us directly! They are extremely responsive, they answer immediately when I call or text with any questions! Truly incredible rescue organization who goes above and beyond for every animal they rescue! 12/10 recommend becoming a foster for them (or even better - adopting an animal from them!) - we will definitely continue fostering with them!!

I recently adopted the sweetest cat from AMA Animal Rescue and it was a great experience. You can tell they really care about every animal they rescue. Although the process is a little lengthy it's very reasonable as they do the best to make sure both you and the pet are a great match for each other. They were communicative throughout different steps of the process and supportive! I would definitely recommend AMA if you're looking into adopting.

My husband and I adopted a cat from AMA and it was a great experience. This company truly cares for animals and takes really good care of them. This was our first time adopting and truly had a great experience. Anna is very professional and makes sure the right person is chosen for the pet.

This is a story with a happy ending. Earlier this year I decided I’d have some free time as my nursing program recessed for our summer break. I sent out many applications to shelters stating my intention to be a foster mom. As the fates would have it I received an email back from a woman named Yolanda who was lovely from the start. I could tell this was an institution that truly cares for animals. I was carefully vetted to verify that my home was fit for dogs & a few months later was told there was a little Chihuahua/terrier mix, Jackie, in need of a home, until she found her forever home. I fully believe in the power of a foster mom, as it’s necessary for animals to have a place to go in between forever homes, as healing and faith are delayed in shelter’s atmospheres. I told myself no matter what I must keep my emotions at bay & though I would give Jackie a loving home, when the time came, I would have to give her up. I picked Jackie up in Harlem and she was terrified. We had no information on her as she had simply been surrendered, no backstory, nothing to tell us what her previous life had been like. At first I got the feeling that Jackie had been emotionally neglected because she had a way of making herself invisible, as if she didn’t want to be a bother, as to not be given up again. I couldn’t wait for her personality to come out and see this little girl shine. The first sign of her personality was when I came home from work the next day & she greeted me at my door, and her little tail wagged. I knew she was starting to feel comfortable with me and trusted me. Slowly we became an inseparable duo! I live in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, & pretty much take her with me everywhere I go. Six months later she’s become the princess of Bay ridge, everybody knows her, and loves her, and boy did her personality come out!!! She’s sassy and fun and has just become the light of my life. I am what’s Called a foster fail, but I do believe fate put us together. Thanks to hard work of Yolanda, Mariya, and Anna, who work tirelessly to save lives everyday I have my little girl, and this is going to be the most special holiday since I can remember. God bless these ladies who labor endlessly to advocate for those that can’t for themselves… they truly are “ANGELS FOR MISTREATED ANIMALS”!

I recently started volunteering at AMA. I am very impressed with how well the animals are treated and the shelter is maintained. Anyone looking to foster or adopt should make an appointment and visit.

I had an amazing experience with AMA animal rescue. I found a kitten whose eyes were completely swollen shut with mucus and didn’t know what to do. I own two dogs and love animals so I wanted to help; I reached out to AMA and immediately Maria reached out to me. As an animal person, Maria’s kind and empathetic demeanor meant everything—not just to me, but to the kitty, which is no safe and receiving the treatment it needs. Highly recommend this place, 10/10.

I chose this animal shelter to be a volunteer and help animals. I was not mistaken with the choice. Friendly, kind and responsive staff, all animals are clean, well-groomed and well-fed! The premises where animals are kept are also kept clean and tidy. I really liked it here! I will definitely go back there.

I discovered AMA when I was looking for an animal shelter to volunteer at and I’m so happy I found this place. As soon as you walk in, you can feel the love and care that the founders and volunteers provide to the dogs and cats here. The shelter and kennels are very clean, the animals are very well taken care of, and the place is well run and organized. The animals here are very sweet and all deserving of a loving forever home.

I have fostered with multiple agencies in NYC and in my opinion, AMA is by far one of the best. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to foster with them for the past 4 years, and to now be adopting from them. Everyone affiliated with the rescue cares about animals so deeply. They ensure that each cat or dog gets individualized attention and that they find the perfect loving home. AMA takes on difficult cases and it is so beautiful to see animals who have been through so much find their happily ever after. I am so lucky that AMA has allowed me to be a part of so many dog's lives and I can't tell you how good it feels to finally be adopting from them! I recommend them to all of my friends and family who are looking to bring a fur baby in to their lives and am able to do so with confidence. Truly, AMA is the best and you won't regret working with them!

I volunteer at AMA Animal Rescue and it’s a fantastic experience! Everyone is welcoming and thoroughly explains each task that needs to be done. Everything that they do is approached with care and love for the animals! If you’re looking for an animal focused volunteer experience, this is the place to be!

This organization is amazing, they take in the most mistreated and abused animals, nurture them back to health and find them loving forever homes. The pups I have met there are super sweet and so well taken care of. Amazing job. Love. Love. Love.

Had a great experience visiting the AMA Animal Rescue and learning about the sweeties that are here and deserving of a home. I had the pleasure of walking Ash and Butters who are such sweet souls. These angels - cats and dogs - though well taken care of, are so deserving of a forever home.

AMA Animal Rescue is nice, cozy and safe place for animals. Staff is very friendly and they have big heart for animals. I just started volunteering and I feel very welcome and they need more volunteers. They are great !

I went to volunteer with my team of coworkers and had the best experience. The women who run the rescue are extremely kind, passionate people. It’s super clean and well-run, the animals there are treated with so much love and respect.

My experience with AMA shelter was totally amazing! I loved working with both the kittens as well as the dogs. I would definitely recommend anyone who is interested in doing volunteer work with animal to go and check out AMA animal shelter! Had a fantastic time walking the dogs and playing with the kitten.
