Went here to adopt a kitty and found out 2 weeks later that the kitty was very sick and dying of heart & kidney disease. I can't imagine that, when the kitty was released to me, the shelter vet was not aware of this. The vet I took him to knew right away, and we followed up with blood work and other tests to confirm the diagnosis. Not only was he very sick but, also had a fungus infection in both his ears and was severely constipated. Needless to say, I was in shock after taking the kitty for his first visit to the vet. When I found out, I left a message for the shelter manager to let her know what happened and she didn't return my call. (which didn't surprise me because she seriously has no empathy for the animals there) When she received all my clearances to adopt, approximately a week after I applied, she wanted the kitty to stay in the shelter for an additional 4 days because she was too busy to sign the release forms so he could be adopted out. I argued with her to please not let him stay in the shelter any longer since I felt that was cruel to do that to an animal that didn't need to be there so she relented and released him 2 days later. The money I've spent on keeping this kitty comfortable, etc. is beyond my means as I'm a senior citizen with a limited income but I'll spend it to make sure the kitty dies with a loving person who will take good care of him. I'm so glad he's not in that horrible no-kill shelter waiting to die and not getting the proper care he needs from the vet there. To really show you how this shelter operates, I received a letter from the shelter this week, during the holidays, asking me for a donation. Honestly, I was stunned. I couldn't believe what I was reading.

Amazing experience having both of my dogs microchipped at once! Only $20 on sundays -$25 regularly and your animal is put into National database to help ensure you can get your pet back home god forbid! Amazingly nice people doing such an incredible job! I wish I could have taken all of the babies home. Thank you for all that you guys do!!!

I am so happy that I was able to find our new addition to our family at Montgomery County SPCA. When I saw Pumpkin on their website, I knew he needed a safe and quiet home like ours to live out his golden years. He was very shy at first so we created a safe space in our home for him to get acclimated to the new smells and sounds as well as our senior Pug. He hid for about a week under the bed, only coming out when no one was near to use the litter box and eat and drink. After about a week and a half, he started coming out more and more. Now he still likes his safe space but comes out to see us when we come in for pets and scratches. It is so important to be patient with cats and not push them too fast. If you let them choose when to come out they will be much happier in the long run. This shelter is doing amazing work and I highly recommend them to find your forever furry friend!

Horribly unorganized, rude, and unprofessional, found an abandoned dog turned it over to the spca, called them 3 times prior to her being eligible for adoption stating that, I will adopt her if she isnt claimed. She was finally cleared for adoption and adopted by another family. Theres better animal shelters in the area to support such as Brennan Animal Rescue

Very disheartened. Had an appointment scheduled yesterday to meet a cat, they called and said had to postpone because cat was getting spayed, rescheduled for today. 20 minutes before we were about to leave, got a call that cat was adopted before we got there. Had to explain tof my daughter. After 3 days of prepping to meet the cat

I'm pretty disappointed with how my situation was handled. I e-mailed them on a Sunday and got a reply that someone one Monday would call me on Tuesday. After not getting a call on Tuesday, I emailed the person back and then was told that my email was forwarded to the shelter manager. She finally called me that following Sunday and we set up an appointment to meet the animal that we were interested in that Friday. On Thursday, she called me to tell me that the animal I wanted was adopted! While I am glad the animal got adopted, one of two things happened. Either she scheduled me after someone else's appointment and never told me that there were other people coming before to give me a heads up, or she scheduled someone before my appointment when I was before them. Clearly not a first come, first serve. I've donated to this shelter before, and I am sad that this is how they operate.

I've been there before, And called about a dog recently. They should keep the pictures up to date, so you can see if the dog or cat is still available. I was disappointed to find out the dog was already adopted. Too few dogs and pitbulls. Please take the already adopted ones picture down.

Montgomery County animal shelter is a nice older shelter. It's small & clean and the animals look clean & cared for. The dog area is concrete kennels which allow a good view of the occupants. It looks like the feline area had been updated. Unfortunately there were quite a few dogs & cats there hoping for forever homes. If you're looking for a pet, please visit. The staff share whatever information they have on the animals to try to get the best fit for your home

Awesome staff. Unfortunately they still have not raised the money to build the new facility. The animals are very well cared for. Donate to them if you can so the animals can live in better conditions.

Got one of my cats from there over a year ago. They were extremely helpful and patient with me. I must have been there over 3 hours trying to make the best decision. Cats well cared for. Clean facility. Caring staff. And we love our new addition. After adjustment period he turned out to be such a love bug. You have to be patient.

Montgomery County SPCA is a wonderful organization designed to help animals find their forever homes. I was able to find two kittens that were unwanted and they have since become a huge part of our family. We all love them so much and they have brought much joy into our lives. I believe we have brought love and joy into their lives as well. The adoption process there is quite simple, but thorough as it should be so they know these animals are being placed in good care. The staff there is wonderful, especially Antonio who answered all of my questions and who is very good to the animals. He is the perfect person to be working for this SPCA. Both my kittens were all taken care of (vaccinated, spayed, etc.)

If you are adopting a new pet. This is your go to place! Super friendly, helpful, and absolutely just a very professional fast experience. I went in to get a cat who I love. They have so many and they are all so cute. Running around, playing with each other. When I had walked in there was a dog who was loose hanging with the kitties up for adoption. My sister and husband came back to get her. Fell in love with her, the dog. Thanks guys! #adoptdontshop

Montgomery County SPCA is a really special shelter. I adopted a dog a couple of years ago from them and they were wonderful. They didn't vilify the people who had surrendered him but were grateful for people coming to adopt, and responsible but not judgy about vetting a new home for them. I recently came back to donate some food and they recognized us and remembered my pup (they asked about his particular quirks, not just an oh yeah, I vaguely remember) and they haven't seen us and the pup in two years! This sounds like just a nice thing, but it also tells me they really spend time with the animals and are invested in them. Great people who take the animals to heart.

Incredibly helpful and accommodating staff who worked with us for several weeks on some behavior problems our dog was having before we adopted. It's clear they really care about the animals, can't recommend them enough!
