Top Dog Pet Resort Santa Fe, New Mexico

Boarding here was mediocre I will not be taking my dogs back here, they were groomed here as well and I have to say I’m extremely unsatisfied they left my dogs looking choppy and uneven and the shampoo or whatever they used smells quite unpleasant. They smell almost sour, it cost me $165 dollars to get two small 16 pound dogs bathed and groomed absolutely horrible job.

My family and I took a trip to Santa Fe and stayed at the Hilton Historic Plaza...of course we were told upon check-in that we cannot leave our dog in the room un-attended even if we leave our Akita in the crate. We had scheduled days to ski and we were afraid we would have to cancel. Fortunately, we had found Top Dog Pet Resort and Sharon and all the staff who worked in the facility was very nice and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the facility was and how the dogs they cared for was treated. I was extremely happy that my akita (Yuki) had a private kennel and run to which she could go out. I cannot give enough kudos for Top Dog Pet Resort but definitely would highly recommend them. Thanks again to Top Dog Pet Resort for allowing us to have a great ski vacation in 2021.

Great place, good staff, and remember you get what you pay for.

Super bad vibes at reception so we didn’t end up leaving our dog there. One of the staff tried to put a choke lead on our dog, and I told her he had a vertebrae issue so we always use a harness. She said I could come back with her then, and to make a note on his form, but then the owner (I think) at the front desk said “oh they all have neck issues,” and kind of waved away our concerns. He has a fused disk in his neck that causes him a lot of pain if triggered, so no, please don’t wave that away. She also seemed annoyed when he sniffed at a Christmas tree inside and said “please don’t let him pee on that,” which he hadn’t, also it’s a tree in a place with a lot of dogs, so... I think maybe she held a grudge against him because he barked at a puppy who was behind the desk with her? But also, if you can’t handle that level of interaction (he barked once and then stopped), it made me not confident about her handling anything else with calm and grace. She also tried to hurry us into the back, like “Get out of the walkway,” even though literally no one was there but us and all my dog was doing was quietly standing next to me at the time. Probably he would’ve been fine but my partner and I really really really didn’t like the tone and attitude of the owner so we didn’t feel safe leaving him there.

This place is top notch. Sharon, the owner, is incredibly knowledgeable about animals, and her husband who is an architect built a state of the art facility. There is no animal smell whatsoever, and the animals were incredibly well looked after. Ten stars!

They were wonderful! They sent photos of our dogs playing and having a good time, the staff seemed to be knowledgeable, and we liked that our dogs weren't put together with a large group of other dogs; we have a giant breed and several vets convinced us to leave him intact for at least a year, which can cause reactivity issues in other dogs. (He has his snip-snip appointment in two months!) The facility looks to be in excellent shape with sturdy well maintained looking fences and safety barriers. They were great about asking if our guys had any food allergies or idiosyncrasies they needed to be aware of, and they even offer a high quality food if you have a hard time schlepping bags that they will happily feed your dog(s). It wasn't communicated that it would cost extra to kennel our guys together, but they gave us a discount that made up for the misunderstanding. The only negative was our guys came home DIRTY! I mean, they changed their beds a different color! Next time we will schedule and pay extra for baths now that we know. Overall we were all thrilled with this place and the service we all received.

Just picked up my dog from her first stay at Top Dog and I am so happy with the fantastic care she received. The team at Top Dog is so responsive and texted daily pictures and status updates. Sharon the owner runs a tight ship staffed by true dog lovers and it shows. The entire facility is immaculate, modern and well-designed. They clearly prioritize the dogs' safety, which was especially important to me. I am so happy to have found a reputable, reliable boarding place for my dog when I can't take her with me. Thanks so much!

Very nice establishment. Very clean and nice accommodations for my Oscar. Onan was Awesome and very friendly and helpful with local information. Highly recommend and will return for a future visit.

Wanted to go to Meow Wolf in NM, while on my way home to AZ from Colorado, but no pets allowed, found this place about 2 miles away, only 25 dollars for my cat, The staff are so gentle and nice, I highly recommend for your fur babies ❤❤❤ my cat McNuggets

Left our dog Betty White at Top Dog this was week. I highly recommend this place. The place is immaculatly clean, the owner Sharon is so knowledgeable about dogs and Betty received a good bath and nail clipping. If you need a goid kennel, do yourself a favor and go to Top Dog. You will not be disappointed

With out a doubt the best place to take your 4 legged family members in town. If your looking for a great place that will take care of your puppies while you go on vacation, this is the spot. They will love and care for your pets like you do! Thank you for taking care of our furry kids! A+++++

Superior service. The kennel is clean. Does not smell of urine. My dog received her three medications. They did a wonderful job grinding and buffing her nails. Most importantly I am an anxious dog owner, and yet I didn't worry about her one minute. Very pleased.

Grateful to have our puppy in good hands when we had to leave for a week. Everything was perfect. Suggestion: It would be wonderful if we could receiving a pic of how she was doing all those days... We were wondering as this was our first time leaving her that long... We definitely would use their services again.

I left my dachshund and pitbull for about a week and i noticed that the facility was clean! I did a walk through and love that my dogs cant play with other peoples dogs. The staff is so professional even when taking my dogs back they handle my frantic dogs well and the owner sharon teaches me a thing or two.

The kennels were very clean and the staff seemed very efficient. I would take my dog back there again.

We were passing through town and deposited our dog here for a night. The facility is new and clean. The staff is very friendly. Highly recommended.

I have an elderly dog and she did just fine here.

When Manny left, I stopped taking my dog there, especially after I heard that conditions had deteriorated. Temperature control in kennel area was not regulated so dogs were suffering in 90-degree heat, and water bowls outside in dog play areas were green with mold.

Our dog returned from Top Dog in much better shape than she went in! Frisky had been sick and Top Dog gave her the diet she needed. I had been exhausted trying to figure out what to feed her. Top Dog actually cares what happens to your pet! They gave advice, they nurtured, and they cared. I can't recommend them more highly.

The space is beautifully laid out and the staff was responsive when I arrived with my pooch. It was disappointing that I had given my registration information over the phone when I made the appointment but the man seemed to have no idea, despite the look of technology that is all over. I was asked by the owner when my dog had been groomed last (my dog had already been taken "to the back," and she had not seen my dog. She quickly asked if the dog was matted and when I responded to both questions, she responded "oh I guess it will be fine." The major disconnect here was that I had been told at registration (with the woman at the desk checking with a more experienced person) that given my dog's weight, the grooming would be $35 -$45. When I arrived to claim my dog, the bill was $72.

Great staff...kind, caring folks who care for my dog as if she belonged to them. When I travel, I know my precious canine companion is in good hands.

Top Dog is top notch! Very clean and organized. This was the second time we dropped off our Maltese and felt very confident he was well taken care of. Jackee was very professional and took great care of him. Will recommend to all my family and friends.

I do not worry when leaving my Dutch Shepard here. Staff is very professional and knowledgeable around dog behavior. Facility is super clean and secure. They do not run dogs in packs and the managers are living on site. Communication is excellent.
