Spotted dog Oakland, New Jersey

Our dog has special dietary needs. We confirmed with two different people in three different conversations that our dog was not to have any food other than labeled with her name. Rebecca confirmed that those instructions were in their system. Despite these clear instructions, they fed the dog food labeled with a different dog's name. Apparently, they did not realize that the food CLEARLY LABLED with the DOG'S NAME was for our dog and NEVER BOTHERED TO EVEN OPEN THE CAN. Use these people if you must but be aware that they are incapable of following simple instructions. They had no problems getting my credit card to work, however.

Worst experience ever! My dog was sick for days after a grooming visit here. When we called to ask if had any treats they mixed up our dog with another and just blurted out that the dog just had a seizure. When we frantically asked about it they retracted the comment saying it was a different dog with the same name, then they said the groomer would call us to discuss. They never did...

BEWARE!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR FUR BABIES HERE!!!!!! If I could give them zero stars I would. I was waiting to pick up my dogs after being groomed and I could hear the cries from the lobby. It was not normal cries of other dogs. This was my first experience dealing with them. I WAS BIT BY ANOTHER DOG — due to negligence on their staff. The dog had too much lead and they let another dog walk up to a stranger. I never met the dog before and he bit my wrist. THE STAFF DID NOTHING!!! I have called dozen of time to no answer, stopped in asking for footage and nothing. The owner has yet to call me. I asked for paper work on the dog to make sure he has shots— NOTHING. Almost two weeks later and my wrist is still very much sore with little movement and I have yet to get a phone call back. Their lack of concern for there customers is pathetic. I regret taking my dogs here. Read the reviews on Yelp. They are bad. Save your time and money and take your fur baby to a groomer who actually cares about animals and customers.

I’m taken care of my military sons dog, I told them I didn’t want to leave her to long for grooming. She has abandonment issues ,they promised me she would be in and out in about one hour. Cindy informed groomer of my concerns. They did GREAT with her and her with them. Took her right away and had her done in an hour. I can’t THANK THEM ENOUGH. Sasha will be going back. Thank you all again.

Extremely overcrowded, understaffed, and overstressed. When they couldn't locate my pup, I was asked to come into the back to find her. Dogs were crowded into small pens, and many were exhibiting symptoms of extreme anxiety -- chewing on the pens, barking, fighting...after a moment, a harried woman asked me what I was doing in the back. She said I wasn't permitted to be there and told me to leave. I complied, and after about 10 more minutes, pup was returned to me, stressed, straining at the leash to leave. I was told she had a difficult time and was "anxious". I thought, with incessant barking dogs, crowded conditions, amd harried, understaffed people, how could she not be. Suffice it to say, we will not be returning.

Staff is super nice, and treated my puppy very well. 100% recommend and my puppy will be returning

The staff was extremely friendly and explained everything done for my dog. The other thing I like are the prices, very reasonable.

I took my sons 2 Yorkies to the Spotted Dog Groomers during Covid-19 which in itself was stressful enough but I was relieved to see they were following all protocols and it was very clean ! The Staff were friendly and made me feel comfortable to leave our pups with them . We were greeted by Carol who was very sweet and friendly ! They did an amazing job on the pups who were so over grown due to most groomers being closed due to the virus. I highly recommend The Spotted Dog Groomers in Oakland NJ Thank you again for treating our pups like your own ????????

Wonderful and accommodating staff. The facility looks very clean and they took great care of my shihtzu. Reasonably priced too! Both my pup and I are happy campers! :)

Our dog is a bit shy but the staff quickly made her comfortable. They have an app that allows you to see the dogs in the play room that makes you comfortable.

My oldest pup, Jessie, was one of The Spotted Dog’s first guests for doggie daycare and as an overnight boarder. And now her younger brother Bogey joins in as well. When I pull into the parking lot, if I pause in the car to finish a call, I have the two of them in the back seat excitedly and vocally urging me to hang up! When we get out of the car, they make a B line for the front door dragging me behind them! They absolutely love going to Spotted Dog!! Why? The facility is clean and large! Every one of the hoomans who watch over them are friendly, professional, committed animal lover people and are always looking out for the best interests of their four legged guests. And the pups who board have their own enclosed suite, not crates! The groomers are excellent as well! The facilities are well maintained and the owner, Carol, is very hands on with the operations (not a helicopter operator) and that adds the personal ‘family’ touch! How Carol and her staff remember the names and preferences of all their doggie guests is beyond my comprehension as I sometimes forget my kids names! If I trust my fur babies to Carol and her colleagues you can do the same without hesitancy whether for doggie day camp or boarding! The Spotted Dog is fantastic! I am a 6 year very well satisfied customer!!

Friendly staff that truly care about my dog. She knows exactly where she is going, especially when we turn right on to Rt 202. Her tail starts wagging and she cries with excitement! She loves going, and I love that I can watch her interact with the other dogs. The grooming staff is incredible and have such an understanding of her needs. Others have tried to cut her nails with much difficulty. But The Spotted Dog groomer was so gentle and knew exactly how to work with my dog. I've not yet used the boarding services that are offered, but I will not hesitate to use them if ever needed.

Absolutely love this place! Everyone is so friendly. It was the first time our new pup slept away from home. I was even able to watch him from my phone which made it comfortable for me to leave him.

My dog loves it there! She stayed for a week over spring break and when we picked her up she was happy to see us, and then turned around and wanted to go back into their play area. She had a bath after her stay and smelled great. Thanks

My wife and I highly recommend The Spotted Dog in Oakland, NJ. Some folks advised us to take our dog there during our vacation trips, starting about 5 years ago. We have done so very frequently and are totally satisfied with the care received. Being both retired, we do some long trips like to Europe and Hawaii, as well as weekend and shorter trips. Carol and her friendly staff provide excellent care, and are very responsive if we have any special requests. The facility is always clean and neat. The feature which allows us to see our dog Pierre on our phone or tablet while away is very helpful. Grooming is available there and is excellent also. We strongly recommend The Spotted Dog to any dog owner in the area.

We were told by several people The Spotted Dog was the place to go, and we can't agree more! We boarded our Yorkie and Goldendoodle for over a week and we were very comfortable during our entire vacation and even had pictures sent to us. The place is very clean and the staff is amazing,. A great find. We will use them for grooming as well

The people who work here are AMAZING! My dog, Isaac, LOVES coming here! He races to the door as soon as he is out of the car, and impatiently waits for them to let him into the play room.

Clean and bright facility. Competent, dedicated, and caring staff. We've been using the Spotted Dog in Oakland NJ for years. Our dogs have always enjoyed their stays. We've all been grateful and appreciative. The Spotted Dog loves dogs and it's readily apparent. We are lucky to have them.

I have been bringing my Maltipoo Zachary to The Spotted Dog for almost 5 years. He LOVES it there, and I'm worry-free when I'm traveling for work or holiday. Reliable, responsible, and loving care are provided by an upbeat team!

Had my dogs nails done and they were very comfortable and well handled

Horrible place. My dog kept jumping over their fence when she was there last year and after a few times they said she didn't want to be there. Well she is 15 pounds so that tells you how high the fence was - not! Of course she is going to try and jump. So for the most part on her 1 night 2 day stay there she stayed in her cubicle alone the whole time. They have cameras so I could see she's wasn't playing with the other dogs so I called and that's the excuse they had. Would never recommend.

I don't want to give any stars they are going to be under investigation for the death of my dog. My dog got ahold of something toxic while staying there over night was taken to the emergency vet clinic and passed away that night the refuse to admit that they were at fault and tried to put the blame on me when she was perfectly fine when she was dropped off. My older dog was affected as well but is currently doing fine. please stay away
