Darbster Kitty Manchester, New Hampshire

The staff here is AWE SOME. I do recommend coming in on a weekday. I came in a few different weekends and they had almost no cats. Lovely they all find homes that fast but they stay open regardless of if there is any ready to go home. Learned that the hard way as I am not local but their website has all their animals on it so I just started checking it before making the drive. The lady working there made me a weekday appointment and helped me find the best cat during my appointment! We are so happy Thank you!

I adopted my kitten Dash from here . Crystal and Jodi made the process of adopting painless. I was impressed with their thoroughness to make sure that the kittens/cats go to a good home! If I am ever to adopt again it will most definitely be from Darbster kitty! I think if your looking for a great place to adopt then you need to look no further than here!! Sharon Miller

My son and I had a wonderful experience adopting Asta from the Darbster location in Manchester. Staff were very friendly and informative. They allowed for my son to play with all the kitties that they had available until we found our little love bug! Her description of being shy and sweet was on point. She is such a beauty and we love having her. Thank you for all you do, Darbster!

Went here twice. Both times the girl at the desk acted genuinely annoyed that we were there. She pointed to the cats which we checked out on our own. We were ignored the entire time we were there both times. The people working there were not busy helping others they just seemed to not care.Very disappointed to say the least. We will adopt elsewhere. To bad I already paid the 10 dollar “application fee” just to see the cats.

We adopted our little boy from here ❤ he is perfect and the process was easy and quick. 10/10 will adopt from here again .

The most unorganized shelter I have ever been to. We were approved to adopt a cat and scheduled a time to pick her up. The same girl that I had spoken to her at least 4 times on the phone was the one who greeted us at the door and then informed us that the cat had already been adopted. We decided to take a look around because there was really no sense in arguing with her about a cat that had already gone to a home. We were absolutely heartbroken that she was gone though. These poor cats in these little tiny rooms were being manhandled by about 6 children and their parents. One cat even ran away down the stairs to try to get away from them. We opened the door to just two rooms and both times we were immediately attacked by the cats inside. Probably due to the extreme stress that they were under. I actually left with my hand gushing blood. I never even signed a form or any information about myself and they just let me walk in. Yes I was approved already but I just simply told them that at the door they never even asked for my name. This family of eight people was wreaking havoc on this place and there was just one volunteer letting it all happen. This girl didn’t seem to know what to do or what to sayAnd pretty much just had a blank stare on her face the entire time. I feel very very sorry for these cats.

If i could give no stars, i would. WARNING: THIS SHELTER ONLY APPROVES APPLICATIONS FROM PEOPLE WHO WILL ONLY CHECK OFF THE “INDOOR KITTY” box. The form is misleading and tricks you. I used to have an indoor/outdoor cat so i was honest and checked that option not knowing they didn’t approve people who have had indoor/ outdoor cats in the past. When I tried to explain that we would no longer allowing our cats to go outdoors, they still denied my application and cancelled my already made appointment. My daughter, who has autism, and I were so excited to go see these kittens, and we were planning to adopt TWO of them together. So sad that they would do that to us and crush the heart of a very lonely teenage girl. This organization should be ashamed of themselves for denying good honest and caring families who are perfect matches for kittens. Do not waste your time.

First let me say I am totally impressed with their commitment to rescuing kitties that might otherwise be euthanized. I only visited the shelter one time but it seemed to be rather unorganized. The staff that evening were very young and seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than helping potential adopters. They have mostly kittens and young cats. I was looking for something a little older. I found a kitty that I was interested in and asked a staffer what her story was. They just handed me a folder with a few lines of history. I do understand that they can't know everything about each cat that they take in but a little explanation goes a long way. I would recommend them if you are looking for a young cat or kitten but maybe not for an older one.

I rescued the best cat from here! The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and professional. I started off fostering mittens, we had to bring her back to Darbster for a few vet visits and the staff always went over the vetting notes with me after each visit and then I was finally able to adopt her! They were really easy to communicate with and they always have the cats best interest in mind. I will definitely be getting my next cat here and will always recommend you guys! Thanks for brining my sweet mittens into my life!

I want to say that this place is one of my favorite places to adopt now. Myself and my husband fostered a beautiful black kitty named Rover. Found out he had ringworm, so we gave him medicine and did everything we needed to make sure he was healthy. Once he was healthy, the process was easy to adopt him! Everyone there is super nice, friendly, and cares so deeply for the cats that stay there. Thank you, Darbster Kitty, for everything that you have done for myself and our little family!

I am so sad to share my thoughts on Darbster Kitty because there are so many wonderful cats there who need homes, however after our experience, I cannot stress how unprofessional and stressful our experience has been. My husband and I had fostered our cat Fiona first, and then were going to fully adopt. On the day of our appointment to fully adopt her we stood outside the facility for 20 minutes knocking on the door and calling. We ended up speaking with Crystal who told us they don't do appointments on Tuesdays - even though a few days prior she confirmed this day and time. Since then, we have called, emailed, left VMs - you name it - to reschedule, and have not heard a single word from anyone, as far as next steps. I noticed their social media accounts were active, so we reached out there as well, and nothing. Putting aside that we will never have adoption paperwork showing she is officially ours, but we were never able to have the experience of fully adopting our cat. Not to mention the lack of care from them as far as Fiona and her wellbeing/whereabouts, and the adoption money that would have been given to them, to provide for others cats. We were working with Crystal and the communication/care from the get-go was sub-par, and I should have listened to my gut - however we're blessed to have saved Fiona, that she's in our hands now, and will be fully taken care of. Wouldn't recommend Darbster to anyone.

Great staff, friendly and knowledgeable about the kitties on site. Always getting new groups of kitties, and can tell staff really cares about each one! I’ve adopted 3 kitties through this organization and couldn’t be happier with my new family members!

Staff was excellent and extremely helpful even tho my room mates and I couldn't decide and ended up leaving without a cat.

We adopted a kitten after waiting 6 months. The girl that helped us was very kind and very helpful with all the information we needed to raise a new kitten. The place was clean and quiet and they let us spend as long as we needed to pick out our first new kitten. I would definitely recommend adopting from Darbster Kitty and if we ever have the chance to adopt again we will definitely be going back there. And I'm happy to share pictures of our new member of our family Selene????????????

Well run organization - carefully checked application which took a few days but I guess from their perspective better safe than sorry.

My wife and I were denied adoption due to the policy of past vet annual heath checks. We understand why the policy is there. We wondered how they handle first time adopters that have zero experience with owning kitties. How do they make sure the adopted kitties get the annually checkups? Adoption contracts? If so, we were never given the option. Just a cold email saying denied, and good luck! We were thinking of volunteering, but I'm sure we would be in violation of one of the policy's to due so. We have had 7 kitties over the past 40 years, all indoor only. All of them well loved and cared for. They all ran the household lol. On a positive note, they did reply within the 24 hours of summiting our application.

The application process, communication, and scheduling a time to meet some kitties went faster than I had originally anticipated. We brought home Shemp (now Sunny D.), today. Smooth and stress-free adoption process. Wonderful staff. Nice facility. I highly recommend adopting through Darbster. Thank you for all of your help! Sunny D. is already making himself at home.

This place is the best place to give a Kitten a forever home. The mission and story of Darbster is awesome. The staff is very friendly and make sure they know about the kittens /cats up for adopton. I have had Maverick (aka Rocky ) for a month now and couldn't be happier . He is fun , loving and playful. Exactly as described by staff !

We were lucky enough to get two beautiful kittens at Darbster ... the volunteers were all wonderful to work with and our cats have changed our world in so many beautiful ways ... thank you so much for doing what you do, we are so glad we found you!❤️

Everyone was friendly, and even as a customer I was able to help a kitty come out and get to go home with her new family! They were super nice, and everyone was so excited for the kitty to go home it was just a wonderful experience.
