We have adopted two cats from Pope Memorial (in 2020) Cappie a bobtail who was transported from up south and Aslan, a Scottish Fold rescued locally. He in particular was in bad shape when we took him home, but they have thrived and become wonderful loving house cats. I also volunteer there and have had really positive experiences as a volunteer. I am very happy to be back after to Covid 19 hiatus. The folks that work there work really, really hard and do difficult work. It's a beautiful facility. I would recommend both getting a pet from this facility and volunteering if you get a chance.

Went there today to look at the cats and kittens, as I lost two last year. The staff/volunteers were SO RUDE and cold, it's like they judge you and don't want to help you at all if they feel you are not worthy! I am a professional with my own house and an income to provide care to a cat/cats. I was snapped at unnecessarily by two female staff members for petting the kittens and cats in an UNLOCKED ROOM WITHOUT SIGNS STATING THE GENERAL PUBLIC WERE NOT TO ENTER! After I was snapped at for that, I then went out to the area where there are cats/kittens in separate kennels. I asked if the two kittens in a kennel together were available and one of the females said no, "I just forgot to put a sign up, and that they just needed a health check". Another staff member walked by and I forgot to ask the other lady, so I asked her when she thought they may go up for adoption. I was then snapped at by her and told "oh, they are already gone and already have potential adopters". Oh really, so the first person didn't feel like mentioning that? She then very bluntly told me I had to fill out an application online and they would call me. NO other assistance offered. She was helping a very sweet older couple adopt a kitten, so I got she was busy, but she just got snippety and instead of offering to help me once she was done with the couple, or ask if there were any other cats I was interested in she ended it there. When I walked into the shelter not a single soul said "hi, how are you? Can I help you". YOU NEED NEW HELP, OR MAYBE USE SOME DONATION MONEY TO TEACH YOUR STAFF HOW TO EFFECTIVELY COMMUNICATE TO CLIENTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING, WITHOUT BEING RUDE AND COLD, AND NOT EVEN ASKING WHAT KIND OF ANIMAL THEY ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. I love to donate money to animal shelters, but this one is definitely not on the list. I will stick with adopting from the Animal Rescue league in Bedford, NH, where I got my last two cats. They are professional AND FRIENDLY, AND they don't make you feel like you are not worthy of their time!! Only reason I gave two starts is because it was at least clean and the animals look cared for!

I love this place! Beautiful facility filled with amazing loving staff. They truly love their job and it shows. I went with my daughter to get a cat and the staff was so friendly and helpful. Gave us time to explore the animals and we took home a sweet kitty cat. They are always looking for donations so take a moment and help out for a good cause.

I love this place! The cats and dogs they have available are so sweet! Make sure you drop off a bag of cat or dog food for the pantry here! Even a small amount of money for a bag of food to donate helps out lots! Thanks for helping out!

Thank you all so much for my kitten ????⬛ Pepper, your whole staff have made me so happy. I looked for a long time for this little kitty, who is definitely a love. I tried to adopt in many facilities, and it finally paid off when I contacted Pope Memorial SPCA, filled out an application as to what I wanted, female, black, tiny and loveable. I received a call from Pope..... and heard from them in short order. They indeed had what I wanted, Pepper who needed me as much as I needed her. Thanks again from the bottom of my ❤️ sweet,

Great communication. I asked for a certain personality kitten and they found me the perfect match. He was well taken care of. Think about adoption! ????

Looked at a pair of kittens who were a bonded sister pair. I thought well I was only looking for one cat, but if their bonded, what animal lover would break them up? I needed to get my dog rabies updated so I scheduled an appointment for Friday called back on the Tuesday before my appointment, the 1-2 day hold I was told the would do at their discretion. When I called the front desk staff they then changed their story and said they don't want to miss an opportunity to have the cats adopted. I told them I would put the money down to hold them and still got a no. What kind of adoption place doesn't want to find a home for a pair together and goes back on what they tell you the first time? If I did that at my job I'd be fired, Comcast has better friendly staff.

Awesome, caring, strong, patient, giving, I could go on...I support my local SPCA as well as all SPCA. Their job is a mix of all feelings, I personally couldn't do it. Id want to take them all home, and never let anyone get away with mistreating the animals. I recently had to give up my kittie and I was so upset...I know she will be ok, cared for and hopefully someone will love her little snuggles. Thank you Sara for helping me and Nola????

Friendly and caring employees. I was a little bummed when I visited, because there weren't too many animals to look at- but then I realized that's the point! Very clean
