We lost our beloved pup 6 months ago. When her remains were returned, the box was different than all of the other boxes from our other pets. I have a shelf with the pictures and boxes of all our pets over the years, so this box looked out of place. I called to inquire about getting a matching box, and was told the company started charging too much so they changed companies. When I asked for the name of the original company he flat out refused to give it to me. I have no choice but to use them since they are the only pet cremation place in the area, but I don't recommend them.

I'm Troy Pittman. I just lost my cat, Tiger on 6/29/2021. He was around 20 to 21 years old. He was in doors always & means the absolute world to me. I can't stress that enough. I chose Friends Of The Family to cremate him. Doug and the others there have always treated me well and have used great care with my pets cremation. I know they are professional. Tiger will be the 13th pet, off the top of my head, that they have cremated for me. They always were returned in good time and in a nice little box and name with their ashes. Doug & I attended the same Highschool so, I know he's a good guy.

We had a puppy that passed. My 12 year old daughter was very close to the dog. They were very nice and sympathetic to her. Thank you so much.

I had my 18 1/2 year old cat put to sleep at my vet on Saturday morning. I knew I wanted her cremated so I talked to Kevin and made arrangements with him to meet him at the cemetery before they left. He and Burt (sp?) were both there and let me cry over her for little bit before I let her go. I was so touched by their kindness. I can't wait to get her back home in her little box.

Over the years they have taken care of 4 of my precious pets. 2 rescue's, Charlie a pug, from a puppy mill and Blossom age ? an abused dachshund. My 17 year old Tuffy dog, and recently Oscar cat 15 years old. Friends of the family always are respectful, they understand how pet owners feel about the loss of our pets.

We had to put my poor old cat to sleep at the emergency vet last week and I wanted to have her cremated like we did her sister that we lost 2 years ago. I wasn’t coping well those first few days, not sleeping much, really heartbroken- I kept having thoughts of “what if her body gets lost, what if I never get her back” (i know, irrational, but your brain doesn’t work right when you’re grieving.) I called the number I could find for Friends of the Family since the emergency vet said that’s who does the cremations for them, and I left a message. Kevin called me back and was very very nice, reassured me that everything was fine, and told me when to expect her ashes to be returned to the emergency vet for pick up. I was able to pick her up that night. Beautiful box. Thank you for your compassion and helping my heart heal by being able to bring her home.

I wish I could give this company and the gentlemen that work there more then 5 stars. My baby Kasper passed peacefully and they made the process of caring for his remains so much easier. The handcrafted box urn is simply breathtaking and I am so happy to display my baby.

My beautiful fur baby was struck by a truck in the evening. We took our baby to the Emergency vet in springfield . they sent her off to Friends of the Family to be cremated. We were so impressed by the detail and care given in the beautiful wooden box that her ashes were placed in. I will definately be sure to spread the word of this place to others who want a beautiful memorium for thier precious fur babies. Thank you so much for caring Friends of the Family!

I couldn't be happier with Pearl's remembrance box and paw print. All I got for her sister was an ugly plastic box

They don't really deserve the 2 stars I gave, but for the sake of the beautiful box I got my boy back in I'll give it 2. I had a small memorial for my little guy on 3/22 to spread some ashes and release some balloons for him. (Personal healing). I called to get permission beforehand. When I first arrived at the pet cemetery, I noticed one of the groundsmen mowing on a zero turn mower at the front of the entrance with lots to mow up that way. However, as I was getting ready to spread his ashes and release the balloons with my daughter in law, son, daughter, and granddaughter, the man on the mower came down our way and started mowing & was blowing dirt and debris right into our direction..(I have a video) . I wanted to curse, scream and cry but I couldn't do that, so I left peacefully in honor of my boy ????. I am so disgusted and hurt by the fact that there was no respect. Where is the compassion, or the integrity of your company? These are our furbabies and are not just animals .....they are our family members, our companions. For some people their fur baby is all they have...I'm still speechless. ..SHAME ON YOUR EMPLOYEE MR DAVIS

Returned my babies ashes in a beautiful box with engraved name, so we feel like he is still with us every day

Very professional and compassionate. I was very hysterical after losing my little guy and they were very reassuring, dealt with my questions and requests (probably very ridiculous questions. The box is gorgeous, and they were very helpful and knowledgeable. When the time comes for my other fur babies I will be using them again.

The boxes are beautiful. However, if you call and ask a question or inquire about something, you will get the feeling that you are bothering him. Very unsympathetic & acts like he could care less. These pets are our family members, we need to know they are being treated with respect. I don't get that feeling from him

Doug is a very compassionate person. He and his team did a nice job presenting our precious boy in a beautiful cedar box with a lock and his name beautifully engraved.

This place was so kind and caring to us. It makes me sad to see the negative reviews. I called and they let us bring our dog of 14 years that afternoon. Once we arrived then gentleman gave us as much time as we needed to say our final goodbyes. He even told us to take our time, and he took care of the blanket we brought her in because we didn’t want it back. The box is beautiful and honestly the whole process was painless considering losing a pet is such a painful thing. I’m recommending them to our friends who are about to lose their long time friend and I’m doing so with confidence.

Would not take another animal here. NO COMPASSION whatsoever. When we initially went in there to cremate our dog, first of all it's a sketchy place, just a tiny shed type thing as their office, but we overlooked that. We go inside, and all they said was, "how much does he weigh." "What's his name." "Alright, let's go get the body." Absolutely DISRESPECTFUL to people who just lost their pet. Wait though, it gets better. A few days later, we go to pick him up. My fiance calls them, and asks them if they were there. "He says, yep til 5." Okay, so he pulls up.. no cars. He gets up to the door, knocks, no answer. So he calls them a few times, with no response. My fiance is getting angry by this time. Finally someone pulls up.. they both get out of the car, and the guy says, "you're blowing up my boss's phone" we finally get the box, and his name that is engraved on the box is SPELLED WRONG. How do you misspell ZEUS. They spelled it 'Zues'. When my fiance pointed it out to them all he said was, "oh sorry" We didn't get a oh I'll fix that for you no problem. Nope. These people have no professionalism whatsoever, no compassion either. They just want their money. Do yourself a favor. Don't use these people to handle your beloved pet. UPDATE: The next day after this business read this review, they called us up, and said we need to talk about the 'blatant lies' that were put on the internet.. and then continued to yell at us about this review! Then told us we need to go up there and tell HIS employee that we don't appreciate the way we were treated. Um? How about YOU do that it's YOUR business. If they were truly a professional business, they would have apologized and made things right! Instead they wanted to yell and argue. I never post reviews, actually this is my first one. This whole thing has been nothing but a nightmare. This business should have helped made us heal, but instead we're still grieving AND angry, and that doesn't help at all. I wish I could take away this one star I gave, because they don't even deserve that.

Yesterday Nov 6. my son's dog died, he was up with him all night until his dog died early in the morning. Upon contacting Friends of the Family, burial arrangements were made for Wednesday Nov 8. My son was told the burial was going to be $595. We arrived at the cemetary to get the casket when Doug saw me and told my son ' not doing it, you tried that one before' (my son's other dog died in March, and a burial was refused). He proceeded to tell my son 'you are guilty by association, you are just like your dad'. For a Springfield business owner to be so belligerent and vindictive is unbelievable and unprofessional.

Lost my little buddy Rusty at 3:45 June 20, 2017. I called and was able to take him in. I had directions taped to the carrier and they followed it very respectfully. They shared their sympathy and when I picked Rusty up the gentleman had his remains in a beautiful cedar box with his name engrave on top, and small lock and key on the haspecific and a sympathy card. Again he shared his sympathy and needless to say I was comforted. Thank you for your compassion. Bobby Campbell
