Dr. Ruth Rogers deserves a straight-up 5 all the way around. The Office Staff deserves around a 1.5.

1 star for same day appointments. ZERO communication between employees. I came here for a service for my pet who was insanely bloated. She turned out to have heart issues. She needed to be drained and have an ultrasound. That's perfectly acceptable. The vet tech and vet were kind knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. The day I came to pick up my dog was a different story. I came in to pay realizing I'd left my second form of payment an hour away in my work vehicle. I tried to split payment between the two forms to keep cash handy in my checking and the receptionist was condescending and abrupt. When I couldn't apply my second form of payment through the phone app, I was ten dollars short. Because of this $10, I was sent to a separate room (because apparently discussing finances in public is crude, or they simply didn't want customers to see how they treat those short on immediate funds.) I was fully prepared to spend $760 (what I recall having been quoted), my bill being 781.00. I notified the other receptionist exactly how much I had, and that my card was in my truck and couldn't immediately access it, but that I could pay the 771.00 in my checking then. (Also offering to post date a check for the overage missing) The woman who was the lead receptionist was incredibly rude. Acting as if she needed to sit me down to talk to me over $10. "The bill is 781.00" I was so frustrated and flustered all I could say is "I don't have it", thinking she already knew what I'd discussed previously with the new receptionist. I have 771.00 Apparently not. When I tried to further the conversation past this hurdle to; what are my steps and what are you comfortable with- the woman comically demanded the amount that I told her already I didn't have (781.00), I gave her my card. She ran it for 781.00 and responded to me "your card was declined" pha! Jesus h. "Yeah, because I told you I didn't have it" "Well how much do you have." (Obviously out of the loop) "771.00 like I told the receptionist up front" "Ok. So we'll take 771.00" What a face palm. Lead receptionist (tall, thin, inverted bob): (quote) "So, am I going to have to write this $20 off because you aren't going to call and pay it??" Instead of dealing with this like a grown adult might, taking my dog and returning to my vehicle to call and pay a measly $10. She made an immense effort to insinuate that I was absolute trash and wasn't intending to pay at all, much less the $10. I offered to post date a check to Friday for the $10 as well which they refused. They'd rather insult you than trust you with $10. 100%

Our first time seeing Dr. Spain was for an emergency, same-day appointment for one of our cats. Kitty did end up needing a minor procedure and Dr. Spain took the time to explain the procedure, the aftercare and the costs (which were very reasonable). The front office staff and vet techs were all friendly and helpful, too. Looking forward to bringing my other cat in for a less stressful routine wellness check after the way Blue Valley Animal Hospital handled our urgent situation!

Dr. Spain and all the staff here are awesome! After we adopted our dog a few years ago, we chose this clinic not only because they were nearby, but after our initial visit, it was clear they are all truly dedicated their profession and love taking care of all their patrons fur babies. The whole crew are super friendly and pleasant to work with. They are very fairly priced, and offer onsite doggy daycare and kennel which is a huge plus. We love this clinic.

This place is horrible. Spain is arrogant and bedside manner is horrible. Spain wouldn't look at a mass on our dogs chest without me commitment to a examination so he could charge another $60. Stay away!!

Dr Spain and his staff are absolutely incredible! We've been bringing our dogs here for the last several months. The staff is knowledgeable and provides outstanding service.

Could not be more disappointed with our recent visit. I brought our black lab in for a routine set of shots and we never saw an actual veterinarian. A “vet tech” took our pup to a back room for shots and a nail trim, brought her back, and asked for my credit card information. I was left with no info about our dog’s current health status or weight, and when I had specific questions for the vet, the vet tech answered with an educated guess and said the vet was with another patient. Poor quality service and completely unprofessional.

Dr. Schreiber is phenomenal! I wish people would get this caliber of care from their healthcare providers! Dr. Leimer saw my kitty first and collaborated with Dr. Schreiber on her oral health needs. He performed her surgery. During the procedure he called me several times to keep me updated on how she’s doing. He also called me the next day to check on her. She has been in so much pain and wouldn’t let us pet her in the area of her head and neck because of her teeth and the amount of pain she was in. Now she’s purring, happy and seems to be recovering so well thanks to the wonderful care she received. Thanks to everyone who took care of my little girl at BVAH. We are so grateful. Our puppy is next!

I am not satisfied with their customer service at all, I would rate 0 if it was an option. I will find another vet soon. They charged me a lot for grooming and I noticed still the nail has not been done properly, I didn’t know that I should hav called within 72hours, so I called later due to holiday and busy schedule and I told them that I was not aware of that and they just simply said that I can book another appointment and they would charge me. I am definitely switch from therm.

The staff is always very friendly and professional. They are available at all times and really care for each of their patients. The cost is normal. Highly recommended!

So far we are very please. The staff are all professional and very caring toward my senior dog. The vet took the time to thoroughly discuss with me about my dog's test results and care plan. Everyone has a nice professional manner and are competent. We are pleased!

I would give way more than 5 stars if I could. Dr. Gardner and staff have been so accommodating and wonderful during a very difficult time for my family and I. My dog Denver was 13 and had cancer, and no matter how many times I called after hours (even Christmas Eve) they immediately responded. When Denver took a turn for the worst at night Dr. Gardner dropped everything and met us 15 minutes later. They did everything they could to take care of Denver and a very emotional pet owner. You can tell they are all true animal lovers. I can't say thank you enough! The McManamons

I am so happy to have found this vet hospital. They are so caring and understanding. We have been going here for over a year. My girl has fear aggression issues. My last vet told me to put her down. I refused to, and that's when I found BVAH. Dr. Sparrow has not judged us or our baby at all for the way she is. She takes care of her like any other dog. She is doing much better now after we got her in training and have done desensitization with her. I'm so glad I didn't listen to my old vet! We also take our two kitties here as well. Blue Valley hasn't let me down, and I don't anticipate them doing so. Thanks Dr. Sparrow and staff!

If I could give more stars, I would! My dog Scooby really scared me over the weekend in the middle of the night with a sudden illness. I called Dr. Spain, and he met me up at the office within a half hour in the middle of the night (2:30 am). He performed a thorough exam and gave Scooby medication that night. Two days later, and he’s almost made a full recovery! Thank you Dr. Spain for being so kind and going out of your way to help!

I have looked through many wonderful reviews about Blue Valley Animal Hospital. I personally don’t have a good review. I am so disappointed with the lack of compassion shown to my wife and son when they brought our injured dog into the clinic. Our dog had been a member of our family for 15 years. On this particular day, a ladder fell on top of her. My wife and son could tell she was injured badly. They rushed her to Blue Valley. Before they would conduct any x-rays or care Dr. Sparrow went over prices. My son said just do it, we’re not concerned about the money. They took her back and determined she had a spine injury and brain damage. My wife asked if they could bring her in and let her spend time with her. They also made the decision to euthanize her, but before they brought her to my wife, they went over charges again. My wife told them that she had called me and I would be there in a few minutes to pay. When I arrived, Dr. Sparrow came back in and asked if I had any questions. I said no. She then put a credit card machine in front of me and asked me to pay the $400+ to continue. By this time my wife had a enough and told Dr. Sparrow that she felt like Blue Valley was more concerned about their money than the feelings we were feeling about losing our baby. She went with the normal response that to many people don’t pay their bill. Anyway, I think Dr. Sparrow should be ashamed of the way she treated my family during our moment of sorrow.

Dr. Spain was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable and caring. He did a thorough exam of my dog, finding things my previous vet had not, and explained everything in detail easy enough for me to understand. We have been patients of Dr. Spain’s for years now and completely trust all of our pets in his care.

I just wanted to let you know how appreciative I am of you all. I just received the flowers that were sent to me after having to put down my pet bunny, Bentley yesterday. The vet tech & Dr. Sparrow that helped me through the tough process yesterday were unbelievably comforting. I just wanted to make sure you knew how truly thankful and blessed I am to not only receive these flowers, but the overall process. You have an amazing staff! Thank you for taking care of my Bentley and making his final moments peaceful. I am so grateful. Again, thank you thank you thank you!

The staff is awesome and for the most part we had a good experience with Blue Valley Animal Hospital; however, the management seems out of touch with their clients. We used this company for veterinary, boarding and day care but recently we got a call institution a $75 fee for late pickup. Competitors charge $1 per minute or something reasonable but we were informed of a flat $75 fee which is ridiculous. We will be taking our business elsewhere where empathy and reasonably policies exist.

Blue Valley Animal Hospital is the ONLY place we will trust with our Wheaten Terrier's regular vet care, (which is very regular, because he's a special case with a lot of doggy allergies!) boarding and grooming. Our dog is our baby, and we are very overprotective. BVAH is the only place I can leave him overnight and not worry, because I know he is in the best hands. We love Dr. Spain and his entire team! Being K-Staters ourselves, we also love that all three doctors are K-State Veterinary Medicine grads! This business is also extremely well run! The team at BVAH is efficient, kind, helpful, knowledgeable, and so, so caring. I'm so glad we found BVAH!

I recently moved to the area and had to find a new vet. I sent messages (with a picture of my dog) to a few vets and Blue Valley responded right away and the owner himself said my dog was adorable! They're friendly on the phone and in person and my dog's first health exam was 50% off since we were new customers!

If I could give more then 5 stars I would! The staff at Blue Valley Animal Hospital are amazing! Dr.Spain has gone above and beyond for my dog and same goes for his staff! I wouldn’t place my dog or any of my future animals in anyone else’s hands but his! If you are looking for a vet you can trust I promise Dr.Spain and his staff is the place to put it! <3

We love Blue Valley Animal Hospital! We have a fireball of a Maine Coon mix and they were so good with him. He got sick over Thanksgiving weekend and they made room for us right quick to treat him. They called us with updates since he had to stay at the hospital. We are truly grateful for their help. Wilson is just fine and back to his ornery self. We will be moving our other kitty over to this practice. Don't hesitate to bring your pet here.

Monday evening I noticed my dog Sebastian was not using his hind left leg and if he did he was unable to bear any weight on it. The next morning I showed up at Blue Valley Animal Hospital at 7 AM without an appointment. They were able to see Sebastian within minutes, doing xrays and a thorough exam to find out he had a muscle sprain. He was home and resting within the hour. I am so please with the service and expertise. I will definitely be back, and will also be brining my dog Harry as a patient as well. Thank you Dr. Gardner, and Abby, for being so nice.
