I brought my cat Nikki Sixx to the ER here for what turned out to be heart failure. The staff could not have moved faster to get him taken care of. He ended up staying for four days and eventually straightened out enough to go home. He will have to be on meds for a while but he is back to being a high-octane cat and I credit the staff at U of M hospital with saving his life. I cannot overstate how well they took care of him. Thank you so much!

I just want to give a special thanks to the professionals at this hospital. We had to put down our Big Boy (senior cat). They gave us all the time and comfort we needed. We are grateful that they made his last moments comfortable, and allowed us to be there with him until the very end. Thank you all.

Came up from Rochester with potential poisoning of dog. Receptionist very unhelpful and after completing poison control call and getting case number, no vet was available to discuss. Left without treatment and sense they didn’t care.

We called their office on a Sunday night after hours to see if we could bring our dog in after he tore up and ate most of a rubber ball. The person answering the phone was knowledgeable, calmly walked us through the problem, and was ready for us when we brought our dog in. The vet that worked with us was great, got our dog to vomit up the toy and collected the pieces to make sure we got it all, and administered an anti nausea medication to stabilize him afterwards. All told the bill was around $400. This is our first emergency service visit and the cost seemed reasonable for the services they performed on short notice after hours. They gave us all the docs we needed to be reimbursed for the majority of the expense through our pet insurance. The people here really care, and we would bring our dog here again in an emergency.

Very good experience with the vets themselves. However, secretaries were rude to me. I was having my sick cat put down and was a bit distraught, so I forgot to put on a mask. Front desk staff were rude and unsympathetic about reminding me that I was technically violating policy.

I brought my cat in to the ER to be seen. Now the front desk girl was helpful and kind, however the ER tech girl that came out was absolutely uncompassionate and treated me like i was stupid. This was on Sunday 11/7. Talking to me like i didn't realize vets and ERs were busy now with the increase in pets over the year. She was absolutely horrible and I had to apologize for obviously upsetting her by bringing my cat in. I hope that she realizes she needs to treat people with respect and kindess, because she is the reason I will NEVER come back here and I will blast this experience everywhere. I have never felt so stupid for thinking my cat needs to be seen.

In a very hard time for us and our cat Brett, we have felt welcome, and treated with exceptional care, empathy and compassion, on a Saturday night. The care provided was amazing and the emotional support fantastic, we felt all the information provided was clearly explained to us, the risks, the status of the situation, the costs, and recommendations felt the best for us and our pet. Thank you from the bottom of our heart

Put on hold for over 45 minutes. No one ever came back to my line. Not about to drive there to be turned away or be stuck with a 4-6 hour wait.

I had to bring my cat, Milo in for treatment of an obstructed urinary tract and they took very good care of Milo and saved his life. It was expensive but they communicated this to me right away. The staff was very kind, compassionate and very good at communicating with me throughout and even after Milo came home. I'm very grateful to Dr. Lam, Dr. Adam's, and Dr. Neuzil. Thank you!!! ????

We called them about our cat who recently had a urinary block because we were afraid he obstructed again. We were told it's an emergency and to bring him in, I said well be there in 45 minutes. My boyfriend took our cat in and was turned away because they were closed? (at the 24 hr ER) and the woman said "I never called them." Thinking I got the wrong address he called me, so I called them right away to see what was going on.. The woman completely denied tgat my boyfriend went in and said she didn't turn him away and to bring our cat In since they already told us to.. My boyfriend went back, waited 45 minutes for our cat to be seen for 5 minutes. They told him yes our cat IS BLOCKED but they are closedso we gotta go somewhere else..but they wanted 100$ for telling us what we already knew. We were STUNNED. They have no concern or care. A urinary block is an EMERGENCY and they wasted our time, lied to us Nd risked our cats life. DON'T GO HERE.

Dog had an incident when we weren’t home and we brought him to this place a while ago, they threw false accusations at us that we injured our dog’s head. Vets kept saying “that’s not what happened”. Very unprofessional.

The right location is at the corner of Commonwealth and Gorther. If you use google maps it will take you to the wrong location. Good service, great clean atmosphere.

Had an appointment for 5 PM, but showed up and was told we would have to wait until 6 now because a few walk-ins came in right before 5. Doesn’t make sense that a walk-in would take priority over an appointment.

We called distraught with a very sick puppy. We were put on hold the first time (after the phone rang and rang for over 20 minutes) then hung up on while on hold. We called back and were put on hold for another 40 minutes. Our dog could have died while we waited to talk to someone. We were told by another referral to the U of M that if we showed up to expect a 2-4 hour wait. I guess this isn’t really an emergency hospital?

Thank you for being available in such a hard time. All of the staff we encountered was quick, respond and empathetic of our situation. They took great loving care of my sweet Anya in her final moments and allowed us to time we needed with her. It was greatly appreciated.

I feel like they could do so much better in terms of being professional. There's never any opening to schedule if you get a new puppy or get a check up. The soonest appointment is always 1 month later or longer. Since COVID happened, they have gotten worse when it comes to organization. You can wait in the parking lot for 30 minutes - 1 hour for picking up medication. They have runners, but yet they're in the lobby talking and laughing while their parking lot is getting more full due to people waiting. They are however a good teaching veterinary clinic and have, for the most part, taken good care of my dogs.

Apparently you are not allowed to ask any simple medical questions over the phone, such as what painkillers a dog can have.

My dog was brought here as an emergency appointment after an 8 hour drive very ill with bloated stomach & emaciated. Bile was drained from stomach. Was supposed to have surgery to the cost of $7000 & a CT scan. That was 3 days ago. Nothing has been done yet. Said they had another emergency surgery & that was the only Dr. there. Now dog is worse than ever & nothing is being done! Only one surgeon! Not acceptable! $7000 not acceptable! Don’t know if he can survive now! Not acceptable! This is pure negligence! Do NOT go here!!!!!!

My pet was attacked by another dog. They were prompt with helping him, kept me up to date on his issue, and provided great care.

The staff couldn't be anymore knowledgable, experienced, empathetic, understanding, caring and patient. The state is blessed to have such a wonderful veterinary program available.

I took my dog there after a week of her not feeling well. They stated she (a 15 pound dog) needed a pyometra surgery. They quoted us $4000-$6000. A quick Google search confirmed it is usually $1000-$2000. After 20 minutes of phone calls we found a place nearby that did the surgery for $1000. I am very unhappy with their prices. Imagine if someone didn't have the money and didn't find a cheaper price and their pet died because it was so expensive..

I was going through some very hard times after divorce which I got nothing out of and he was very wealthy I lost everything but I kept my dog and this place. Back on my feet again but I will never forget them they saved my dog and gave her three more years of life which is what they promised and she got three and a half. I want to thank the people that donated the money it went right to them I said don't send it to me you send it to the medical center and they were good with that and things to the kindness of a few friends and strangers who knew my story my dog got to live longer with me. The place is so clean I'd like to go there and stay myself if something went wrong! Very professional. Right up there with UC Davis which I had taken another dog to a few years ago and I was back in that area. I trust this medical center very much.

I brought my animal and waited 5 hours to be seen. After my animal was seen, I was told it would have to be assessed and treated on an outpatient basis (which was the reason I came in in the first place because my outpatient clinic / hospital was too busy). My poor dogs still probably has an ear infection without treatment.

So happy we brought our dog here. She had a piece of dog treat stuck in her esophagus. She is a very tiny 5 pound dog. The staff was amazing. Friendly and very helpful. They kept us informed the whole time. The Dr even called the next day to see how she was doing. Thank you to the whole staff.

During COVID 19 I could not schedule an appointment with my vet, so I called to U of M vet urgent care. They could see my cats the same day. Of course there is a wait time: it is like in urgent care for humans. Doctors pinpoint my pets problems quickly and gave my female cat the proper treatment. However Don Boss had to be referred to the vet ophthalmologist. Dr. Norberg prescribed him steroid and antibiotic drops and referred him to Andover vet eye clinic. However in Andover despite the urgency and despite dr. Norberg called them they could schedule an appointment only in a week. So I contacted urgent care again asking to give an emergency referral to vet oftalmologist in St. Louis Park. Dr. Norberg called me and said that she referred me to Dr. Olivero and I have to call them first thing in the morning. Thanks to doctor Norberg Don Boss was seen by Dr. Olivero promptly, was diagnosed with uveitis, which is an urgent matter. And prices for urgent care at U of M are compared with prices for urgent care in other places, for example Blaine vet urgent care.

My cat was having GI issues and the staff here was incredibly kind and thorough. They walked me through every step of the process and made sure I understood my options. I am so grateful to have had such a caring and skilled staff to help my little buddy in his time of need.

I brought my dog there who was sick and they treated him but when I got him back they did not disclose anything to me or give me any discharge papers, they didn't give me instructions on the food they wanted him to eat, they didn't give me instructions on medication and when I call they keep telling me they will send it through email and they don't. If this clinic cared about the animals they treated you would think this would be a priority. I will not be bringing my dog back here. Also extremely over priced for what you get it's truly unfortunate.
