I live in a small town and was wanting to adopt a dog. I live in Albert Lea, which is out of their 60 mile range. I received an email that my application was approved and I never heard anything back. After reading the other reviews I understood why. I was very disappointed. They seem like they get a lot of nice dogs, but I didn't even get a chance. I'm just hoping to help other people from wasting their time if they don't live close enough.

We have been checking in on Arbuckle since we first saw him on their website in August. Since we adopted another collie this year, the adoption coordinator was super responsive to our application and the foster parents were very accommodating. Quick adoption process....it was awesome! Highly recommend!

We decided to adopt with Underdog after going to one of their adoption events. We went even though the puppy I was eying up wasn't attending because I wanted to get a sense of the organization and talk to them more in person about the process. After that, I put in my application for Valerie (now Dallas) and two weeks later I was bringing home my puppy! The process was simple and I appreciated how much effort the team put into making sure the puppy was going to the best home possible. The adoption fee is a little high, but they are a non-profit and the fee includes basic shots and her spaying, so I can't really complain about that. #AdoptDontShop

Friendly, helpful and supportive community of volunteers.

Underdog Rescue unfortunately is the epitome of why people choose to buy over adopt. The qualifications and requirements for some dogs are absurd. Hoping they can correct this and help get dogs to homes quicker.

Do not adopt from them! They do not care about dogs, or the people adopting them. My friends had a horrible experience. They only care about money. Look at how they respond to their negative comments, they’re very defensive and rude.

Wonderful Rescue that has saved thousands of dogs! We have rescued 3 dogs from Underdog Rescue in the last 2 years and it has been so rewarding and fulfilling.

Adopt fee over six hundred dollars for adult dog. Which I can't afford. Will still look for companion to love.

I have been following a lot of different rescues on FB in search of a doodle type of breed. I have really bad allergies and asthma, so the type of dog I could give a loving home to is very limited. The last thing I want to do is to give the dog back due to my health. I was searching tirelessly for months trying to find a hypoallergenic dog,and low and behold I spotted Edmund (now Tucker). I knew that rescuing a dog was more work, but knowing I could give a dog something he has never had before was everything to me. After submitting my application, I got an email right away thanking me for my interest and if I had time to go over a few questions they had. Once I met up with the foster mom, I went through the rest of the adoption process which typically takes anywhere between a few days to a week+. Knowing that Underdog goes through the necessary steps to ensure you will give their dog a good home is incredible. I had a virtual in home inspection, they contacted all 3 of my references to verify I was capable of being a dog mom, and asked how my schedule would allow for the care of this pup. It’s also required to show proof of that you have enrolled the dog in obedience classes too. After they did their due diligence, we scheduled a time for pick up. The foster mom Brianna was amazing! She cared for him with everything she had while he was waiting for his forever home. She gave me feedback on how he was with certain things, so I could replicate them at home for an easier transition. The adoption fee was a little higher than I expected, but I’d you think about it, they are a non-for profit organization, and have to pay everything out of their own pockets or through donations. Edmund needed some dental work, which is why his fee was a little higher than normal. I also want to give a mention who my coordinator was during this process. Megan Michelle Meyers was the main point of contact for this adoption, and let me tell you, she’s incredible! She made this entire process a breeze. She let me bother her everyday with questions, and gave me recommendations on different foods, walking gear, crates, etc. Megan made this experience nothing but the best and anyone would be lucky to have her as their coordinator. ❤️

I initially applied for a different dog, which ultimately delayed my application for the dog I REALLY wanted - who appeared online later. We were told we were 4th in line for him. :-( My fault - but was so frustrating waiting to hear back from them. When I did hear back, it was like winning the lottery! I was so excited! When we brought our dog to meet Enzo, I saw him through the trees before foster mom, Stephanie, brought him to us and I was awestruck- like seeing a celebrity! Stephanie made sure we knew his quirks as well as his amazing qualities so we did not walk in blind. This was so helpful! Trust the process - even when it is frustrating and stressful. It all works out as it should. We love our boy and cannot even imagine life without him! I honestly feel like I've won the lottery every single day! Thanks, Underdog, for our sweet man - and your amazing fosters, and for being careful enough to know that we were the right parents for our Enzo! (fka "Dunkin")

I was not impressed by this place. I love to rescue dogs and have a deep respect for rescue organizations, but this one left me cold. Their fees are considerably higher than other rescues, and they were not willing to negotiate at all. I walked away from our encounter feeling like they cared more about the money than making sure the dog goes to a good home. I'll be taking my money back to Midwest Animal Rescue Services (MARS). I have successfully adopted 2 dogs from them that turned out to be 2 of the best dogs I've ever had. And they have the animals' best interest at heart, which is as it should be.

Great local animal rescue organization. I have adopted two pups from them. Consider donating to them to help rescue the pups.

We loved our dog from Midwest. They really care about animals. Thanks for the memories.

They wanted an unreasonable amount of money to adopt a rescue dog. If I wanted to spend that much money I would go to a breeder. I wanted to help a adult dog out.

I am in process of adopting my third dog from Underdog! This organization is absolutely committed to finding the right dog for you and your family! They guide you through the process and make it easy by offering resources, advice and assistance! I know they truly care about their animals and WANT them to go to the "right"homes! Keep in mind, their fees are well worth it! They pay for spays, neuters, surgeries, treatments, medications, trainings etc- Your adoption also goes to saving the lives of dogs all over the country! BRAVO UNDERDOG! Thanks for all you do for our underdog animals! Please consider a donation!

Obviously I love their goal of saving animals but the 'can't adopt outside an area'. If the goal is for a furever home (and in this case an older large dog which had been sheltered for many months) shouldn't they be making decisions on what is best for the pretty vs their policy? I told them to work with our Humane Society if they need to check up on me, I never even heard back from them.

I’ve been absolutely blown away by the work of the Underdog team-they’ve all been an unbelievably helpful resource, so encouraging, and an all around joy to work with. They all clearly have such a love for the work and the animals they care for. Absolutely cannot say enough good things about them and the process of rescuing through them. Rescuing any animal is not for the faint of heart-it comes with an abundance of uncharted territory, but is without a doubt the most rewarding way to bring an animal into your life. Thanks to the moon and back, team Underdog!

My husband and I adopted a sweet cocker boy from UDR and had a wonderful 7 years with him. Sadly, we lost Oliver to a rare and aggressive intestinal tumor recently. Friends of mine loved this boy so much they are making donations to UnderDog Rescue in his memory. We are now hoping to adopt another pup from UDR. ❤ We love their mission and their volunteers. Thank you, UDR.

Discrimination against people who live further than 60miles away! They take animals in from different states but you can't adopt unless you live within there made up fence

I've not used them personally, but I know others who have adopted dogs through Underdog Rescue, and from what I've witnessed from their experiences, it's a great organization. If I were looking to adopt another dog I'd look to them as one of the first organizations I'd want to adopt from based on the experiences of those around me.

We rescued our dog from Underdog Rescue over a year ago and I have only good things to say about UDR and their operation. You can tell they really care about the animals and finding good homes for each one.

UDR responded to our adoption application in a timely manner. When the first dog we applied to adopt did not work out, they suggested we may want to be a foster care family. Well, what a joy it's been to bring in a rescue to give the dog love and care. We get in love with this dog. In process of adoption now.
