Karnik Pet Lodge Ann Arbor, Michigan

We've been taking our dog, Koda, to day care for a few months now and recently boarded him at Karnik for the first time. All of the service I've had at Karnik has been great- the staff are very friendly and really take care of the dogs. The space is big and clean, and our dog seems to love it. We were worried about leaving Koda for several days but they did a great job of making us feel at ease. We will definitely keep using them in the future!

My puppy, Mabel, has been coming to Karnik regularly for about four months. She LOVES Karnik, and I love how kind the staff are. I feel great knowing she is in a fun, safe, caring environment where she can run off all of her puppy energy with her pals and come home tired and happy at the end of her day. Happy customers!

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG THERE! We had our dog there for 2 nights. Asked for a bath and nail trim. Upon picking up our dog, we noticed there was blood on her. They cut 1 of the nails way too short that caused severe bleeding. The owner was very rude, unapologetic about the situation and was screaming at us. Somehow our dog was also terrified that she chewed her collar in half. The owner has no idea how to run a business and lacks people skills. It was the most unprofessional and unsatisfied experience.

I was skeptical of leaving my cat in a pet broading facility. I didn't trust anyone to take of my cat as well as I do. Karnik made me feel at ease right away. From the long phone conversations to visits and the actual drop off day. All of my questions were answered without judgement. My cat had a wonderful stay and I feel comfortable with leaving her there again in the future. I did pay for additional photos and play times to set myself at ease. Karnik is a good, safe place for your family pet!

So we actually got stuck behind this total Karen driving in Brooklyn Mi. She chose to drive like a total jack-a$$ while advertising her business so we chose instead of road rage to leave a review. How you treat others reflects your business!!! I hope you think about that next time you give someone the stink eye for riding behind you going 40 in a 55.

We have been using Karnik for about two years and have had great experiences. We've done overnight boarding as well as daycare and love the attention, care, and personal connections staff have with each animal. The pet cams are awesome and the themed parties show just how much staff care about making Karnik a fun place for all animals. I feel comfortable and safe and would definitely recommend them to anyone interested!

The staff is amazing and take great care of my dog, Zeus! They post pictures of your dog and you can even watch your dog play on their live camera feed!!! :) definitely recommend

1st time there, we want our dog, Captain Morgan, to get used to being around other dogs. They said he tested very good. They really wore him out, he napped from when we returned home until bedtime, then slept all through the night. Very uncommon for our bundle of energy. Sending him to the Howloween party tomorrow.

I bring my dog here for both overnight kenneling and a couple times a week for doggy daycare. The staff is polite and professional, and they all genuinely enjoy the dogs and cats. I trust them with my dog and have never had a problem. Regular daycare is great but ask for daycare 2.0 if you want your dog to get maximum exercise and socialization.

I do not recommend boarding your dog here. I am hesitant to even step back into this place, which is why I choose to post my review here. We boarded our Old English Sheepdog here for 10 days. I take issue with my following experience: 1. My dog is on a vet prescribed dog food. I was told that if we bagged and labelled his food per serving per meal we would not be charged. Our statement has a $10 "pet health first." 2. To have your dog brushed it costs extra, $9 additionally per brushing. I paid to have our dog brushed 5 days out of the 10 days he was boarded. I understand that when we picked him up he may have been a touch more knotted than normal, but when we got him back it was like he had not been brushed at all. Looking at their cameras when we were able to it was hard to tell if he was being brushed properly. To my knowledge, brushes did not happen on camera. Upon return we spent over an hour and a half brushing him. This is upsetting because I even called and asked if I had to bring in his brushes before hand and was told I did not have to and that they have brushes. I don't feel like I got what I paid for. 3. I sent the blanket he normally sleeps with to the facility. It was returned reeking of piss. I will admit when I picked him up I did not notice the piss smell right away. (I was more concerned with what our dog looked like upon pick up. I did not mention the mats upon pick up, but I also wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt that it was fine.) I know that smells may start to blend together while working with animals, but I find it hard to believe that no one noticed. This also paired with the fact that while brushing him at home he smelled of piss, something doesn't add up. If the facility would like to reach out and discuss my review I am more than happy to do so. However, I won't be back.

Very kind staff and my dog is always happy to be there! The only thing that makes me sometimes question returning is once I was guilted terribly about not paying extra for our dog to have playtime during his 3 night stay. We love our boy and I understand but if they're more concerned about the dogs and not just making money, they could lower playtime prices. I know we're in Ann Arbor but not everyone has the 'Ann Arbor means' and it was very stressful to continue to say no without saying "Our family just can't afford that".

Daphne is always thrilled to go to Karnik for the day - she perks up when I say the name. Everyone at Karnik is friendly and knows Daphne by name, which makes me feel more comfortable leaving her. Daphne seems to truly enjoy her time there and is always tired in the evening when she gets home.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. We boarded our dog with Karnak for 5 days. She was supposed to be walked 3 times a day and have a daily play time and bath before coming home. She didn't eat the whole time she was there and they didn't call us or do anything for her. When I asked why they didn't call us, the clerk was very defensive and rude. My dog was filthy. Her hind quarters were covered in crusted urine. Her bed was covered in urine and had to be thrown out. My dog is a very fastidious poodle and would not have soiled her living space if she had had a opportunity to relieve herself elsewhere.

We had been using Karnik for a few months with our two dogs. They recently told us in the most unprofessional way that one of our dogs wasn’t allowed back for group daycare. They said she wanted to play too much when the other dogs were napping, that she was hyper and got the other dogs hyper, and that their group day care was a very chill environment. The man even went as far to say it was probably because she was a pit bull. This was a terrible experience, especially since she is such a loving dog- she just wants to play. I asked if she bit any dog or was barking, they said no. If you have a dog that is high energy and needs a fun environment with caring staff- this is not the place for you. I would recommend Camp Bow Wow in Ann Arbor instead- 100%.
