Best Friends Pet Hotel Wakefield, Massachusetts

My dog was there for five (5) days. I was worried the whole time because I didn't receive any pictures or updates and I never saw him on their surveillance cameras. When I picked him up, he smelled and looked terrible. As soon as we got home he peed for about a minute non-stop!! I've never seen him pee for that long before. That alone told me the type of treatment he received at this place. Never again!!

I used to work at Best Friends. Overall I loved it! I was looking for a good job that I could work with animals in particular dogs. The problem I had working there was the constant revolving door of employees including managers. I can firmly say that Best Friends treats their pets excellently and I would bring a pet here if I had one. However I had trouble as an employee with the professionalism of the staff. it became extremely frustrating not knowing sometimes what ur hours were going to be that week. It made it impossible to make appointments or make other plans as ur schedule would always change. Working their was a great experience!! but, right now I am happy at my new job! overall I would give this place 2 stars. Who knows though that could change. someday.

I have called this place 6 times over a 3 month period and filled out their request for a tour 2 times, NEVER GOT CALLED BACK. They did manage to get me on their email list though! We are going away for 7 days and I need pet accommodations. This would have been a substantial amount of money, one would think that might motivate them into returning my call as requested, but nope. Not professional, not able to even be polite enough to call or email me back. This business cannot do something this simple as return a call then I can't imagine them caring for our pet. Sad

We boarded our 2.5 year old hyper, anxious but loving lab here for the first time. Drop-off was a little hectic, but the staff was wonderful. When we picked him up after his stay, he was happy, clean and calm. I was a little nervous leaving him, so I emailed/called a few times to check in and the staff was responsive, kind, understanding and assured me that my pup was doing great! A few things to note - although they do have cameras on some of the floors, they aren't on all of the floors. They have a grooming option on pick up day that is reasonably priced and the groomer does a great job. We are very happy with the quality of service and we will definitely be returning!

I will NEVER leave my cats with this garbage pet hotel again and have also never written a review EVER so that shows how absolutely disgusted I am with these people. THEY DID NOT FEED MY CATS FOR TWO DAYS! I'm so glad they were not there longer. I got back nearly all the food I brought so basically they fed them 1 time in 5 feedings. My cats were freaking out and starving when I got them back. I can't believe the manager doesn't care enough to call me back, that's horrible. Your weekend staff didn't feed my cats and you don't feel that's important? You endangered my cats, maybe you should work in a different field where you're not responsible for the lives of pets. I'm so glad they were not there longer. I find it interesting that in your replies to people you say that you take customer satisfaction very seriously. I have called you 3 times and emailed you 2 times in 2 days and I have not heard back from your manager you said would call me back about my very serious concern.

Very clean and the cats came back very happy and well adjusted.

We recently took our dog to Best Friends Pet Hotel in Wakefield Massachusetts for two weeks. Prior to leaving her for two weeks we took her one day for daycare and she loved it. She was super tired so we thought it was a good fit. We also liked that they said they keep track of everything, had 24 hour cameras and a vet really close by. When we dropped our dog off they told us we would get pictures every seven days and an update. We called maybe four days into our vacation to get an update because she had not seen her on the cameras and they told up everything was well and they would send some pictures the next day. We never got any pictures even a week later. So we emailed them because we still did not see her on the camera and they said she was doing well and they would send pictures the next day. We are back home now and no pictures or was she ever on the camera. We check every day multiple times a day. We asked why we didn’t get any pictures and they said “You didn’t get them.” We paid to get a groom the day we were picking her up that included her nails dremeled a bath and a ear cleaning. Her ears were cleaned but I could have done better and I’m not a groomer, her nails didn’t even look cut and she smelt awful. After we had got home we were able to get a better look at her and she had cuts all over her body. Some of them looked like they happened recent and we never got any call that something like this happened. I saw over 5. Her paws have also been really red and super tender to touch. Please don’t bring your dog here!

We brought our dog to the Wakefield location for 2 weeks while we went on vacation. The website says the dogs can be seen on the livestream at certain times, we checked several times a day over many days and never saw our dog. When we reached out they claimed they had so many dogs and therefore they could not all be in the same room and on camera. The issue was that we saw the same couple of dogs on the livestream. Secondly they promised to send pictures every 7 days. We never got to see pictures of our dog. When we reached out about this issue they kept saying they would send them but never did. We had no idea how our dog was doing. We picked her up today and she seems thinner than when we dropped her off. I absolutely do not recommend bringing your dog here for a longer period of time. Never bringing our dog back here again!

Best Friends Wakefield has always been a fun stay for our dogs. They're not nervous when they show up and very happy when they leave.

STEAR CLEAR!! We were told this place was outstanding from someone who boards their dogs here often. Well, they must not love their dogs or care of their well-being. We boarded 2 Maltese for 4 days. A tour was never offered ahead of time even though we made it known we were new to boarding. At drop off we were given no reassurance, no itinerary, no mention of pet cams. We were told we’d receive pictures during their stay, and we did… on the morning we were due to pick them up. When we picked them up the STENCH coming from their fur was shocking. Yes they’re white and being boarded we expected them to need baths after bringing them home but they were practically gray. And now, 3 days later they still have loose stools. No one answers the phone, no one returns voicemails, the billing was a disaster to decipher, and we only received a report card when we asked for one. Believe the scathing reviews, be weary of the positive ones.

Rod the Dog Smith referred me to Jen at Best Friends who ia equally as awesome as himself! I ended up needed 2 extra days of care literally last minute and they made it happen. When I picked him up he looked great and was excited to see me. I could tell he had a great time by his behavior. I will definitely bring him back again if I need to go on another trip!

Under new management in recent year or so. Checking in and checking out is SO MUCH better now.

The BEST place to entrust your fur babies with. My two dogs get so pumped when we mention Best Friends; my husband and I have to use codewords when we talk about it because otherwise they will go bonkers. They offer literally every service you can think of, and they do it all so phenomenally.

As a first time customer, I was very satisfied with the results of my Bulldog Bella's grooming experience. I will definetly continue to do business with their grooming services!

Wonder people and they take great care of Sam on his spa days

Life threw a curve ball and needed a place for my dog to stay. She is a therapy dog and well tempered. My best friends rejected because she is older and when pees on slippery floor she can lose balance as her back legs are not as strong as once were. Too much for them to take her on grass every 3 hours or 3x day as this place is about quantity not the personal touch. I will go down the street to bed and biscuit. Thanks

Excellent facility well staffed, professional.

I brought my yorkie here for the weekend while my boyfriend and I went away. We were promised we would see him on the “pet cam” and a daily picture . However not once did I see him outside with the other dogs On the pet cam and barely saw the other dogs either . When I called they assured me he was doing great , and that I’d get a picture within a day. We didn’t get one until the day we picked him up. When we picked him up he looked miserable . Feces on his bum, and is now having diarrhea . We will be going to the vet tomorrow . It is clear he was neglected . Do not bring your fur babies here guys .

All we have to do is mention "Puppy Camp" to Tuggy and he's ready to go. He absolutely loves visiting with his puppy pals and the Best Friends staff at the hotel.

They take very good care of our dog. Highly recommended for daycare, boarding and grooming

Best Friends takes good care of your pets and they also have kettle service for exotics! From geckos to parrots to pigs! We left our beautiful parrot with them for nine days and they took really good care of her. 10/10 will come again and will recommend it to anybody.
