Staff is always helpful and polite. I like the focus on positive pet engagement and training approaches. We've gotten three pets from them and they've been fantastic every time.

The Northeast animal shelter is where I have adopted the last two cats in my life, both of which lived full, happy lives. The staff is dedicated wonderful and kind. I could not recommend a better place to adopt a pet.

This is a "no kill" shelter. I was dropping off some blankets and towels. Anything an animal could use they will be grateful for.

Adopted an amazing puppy! I had an appointment to see/meet a different dog. That dog wasn’t a great fit. The staff then recommended I meet the puppy I adopted. They said she was smart, eager to learn, friendly with both dogs and people. She’s all of those things and then some! I looked in a hundred mile radius of my home town to find a rescue. I read and filled out many applications, read all of their contracts. Many so called organizations for dog and cat rescues have many hidden glitches when dealing with them. Others I spoke with - I’d never give them my personal information . Northeast Animal Shelter provides you with the information and tools you need to adopt your new fur baby. Highly recommend. Very positive experience for not only me, but also my puppy!

Never again. I adopted a dog from this shelter. I brought him to vet and found out there was more wrong then they disclosed to me. I called multiple times with no return call, they were very eager to have him adopted. Now I know why. Very disappointed in this shelter.

****** Update November 7, 2021 ********* They now weed out any potential decent volunteers or staff by stating up front that they do kill. In the past, they never disclosed this. Once it was brought out into the public eye back in 2018, they had no choice but to inform people in the mission statement. NOW, they are using this to weed out any potential whistleblowers when they do kill. A kennel supervisor did mention in the beginning of the year that there are "too many animals and not enough people" this was posted in response to allegations that they had killed quite a few dogs, one of those named Milo Ashton that was actually part of a Texas transport that also sought out donations. This same employee, also came after me in a private message. (she did cease after two demands ) I only am posting this to inform any donors of their practices. Also the director has an IRS 990E filing salary of $115,000 back in 2019. Please think of this when you are looking to donate, adopt, etc... You are not saving the ones who they killed or plan to kill. Look into smaller shelters, rescues, etc... Update - New review coming soon- nothing has changed I used to donate to Northeast Animal Shelter. That was until I found out their no kill/ never kill mission was not true. As a donor and my experience as a consumer, I was deeply saddened to hear they actually did kill dogs in their care. When people donate to non profits, they read their mission statement. In my experience of donating my money, time, and tangible items it's expected that transparency is in their mission statement. My experience as a donor was disappointing at best. Please do a google search and look into other rescues and shelters to donate to.

Its a nice clean shelter. And the pups look well taken care of. Just note that they are a same day adoption shelter, so be prepared to go home with your fur baby.

I adopted two 5 month old kittens (siblings Mitsubishi and Isuzu renamed Misa and Odin) that are absolutely beautiful healthy and VERY well behaved. They were spayed and neutered (24 hrs before I picked them up) with first shots and a chip. Within 15 minutes of arriving into a new home with 3 children they were running around and playing . $375.00 per kitten seems pricey but definitely worth it when you consider everything they've already had done . I would definitely recommend adopting from here.

For the second time in 16 years our family adopted two young bonded cats. They came with some medical and fearful baggage but in one short month have blossomed into the most loving, sweet, contented cats. We are in love! I would love to post photos but can’t seem to load them.

Very friendly people passionate about finding forever homes for animals and informing pet owners. We've adopted two dogs from them so far and each experience has been a blessing.

We have had such great luck in the past adopting from here but lately it’s been really frustrating. I had inquired about a dog that had been on the website for awhile and hadn’t heard anything so I called and they said they would get back to us even if it wasn’t a good match. Well today I still hadn’t heard anything so I called again. I said hi I have a question about the inquiries I put in about a dog and the lady said very rudely, we have 1,000 of applications per dog we do not have the time to call everyone back if you’re not a good fit. I apologized and told her when I previously called they said I would hear back even if it wasn’t a match. And she then again was rude and continued to tell me they can’t let everyone know about their inquires bc of the volume ect. It really felt like she didn’t wanna help and just wanted me to stop talking . Very disappointing.

I adopted a cat from Northeast and had a behavior problem. I called and left a phone message before they opened. The shelter supervisor returned my call within minutes after they opened. She had me come right over and, when I arrived, solved my issue immediately with great concern for me and the welfare of the cat. They were outstanding - sense of urgency, concern, and making it right. Thank you.

If I could put 0 stars I would. Employees are very unfriendly and shouldn’t be working in this kind of environment with the attitudes they have. Jean specifically.

My sister had an appointment here and I called to see if I could join and look at dogs as well and the receptionist told me that I was welcomed to also look at dogs because the two I was looking at were still available. Which Nancy had called me back to give me the correct information. Obviously she was either miss informed or JEAN was on a power trip this evening and very rude telling me I didn’t apply and I informed her that I did twice and also called to double check. Jean was very rude to my family and tried to get us to leave 20 minutes into our 1 hr and 15 minute appointment. Jean should not be working at a facility that has to do with the characteristics of compassion or kindness. Maybe change your profession, just my opinion. So much for shelters wanting people to adopt.

Two kitten adoptions over the last ~20 years. If I find myself in need of another adoption 20 years hence Northeast Animal Shelter will be my first choice.

Cats all seem to be sick. Some have been stuck pending adoption so long that their potential owners gave up on them. While some staff has been decent, there have been a few who were quite rude. Getting ahold of them is almost impossible. Nobody ever picks up the phone and if you leave a message you are lucky if they call you back. Quite a lot of staff were just sitting around chatting amongst each other so you’re telling me nobody could pick up a phone? I came to get an older cat. I left with a headache. 0/0
