Owner is an animal abuser

Been there for the pet boarding, not the fanciest place, treats dogs as animals, not persons (which is good), the price per night is unbeatable. My dog was very good after her boarding. I would recommend grooming the dog before taking it there because the owner could decide something is needed and charging without asking. You can't deny he loves dogs.

I have recently spent a lot of time at this kennel and have observed the amazing attention to detail that the owner has. I've had the opportunity to observe grooming of doodles and how he handles each of the animals with care and attention. I have observed his tireless attention to each of the kennels and If a dog poops, it is picked up almost immediately! I have used other kennels where that is not the case! Very impressive indeed. I will continue to use this kennel for my dog grooming and kenneling needs and I am so happy to have found it! Also, I love when his dogs bow and smile on command! Very sweet!

I brought my 12 year old Shih Tzu to Briarwood Kennel, and left what you would swear was a new puppy. He was a little forceful with my dog, but NEVER hurt him and did an amazing job grooming him. He did an amazing job with the grooming, and even gave me tips on taking care of my dogs fur so it doesn't get matted. I will be definitely be coming back.

I have lived on the south shore for over 30yrs. Left my Australian Shepherd there 25yrs ago for 1 week and that was enough to never return. He had chewed off every piece of fur he could reach, extremely anxious. Found another place that all of my pets have enjoyed going to through the years. They need to love animals and own their business due to that love and commitment to their safe return to us .

My Husband and I love sending our pup Mazie here. She has a complete blast. She can not wait to go to daycare every week. Her brother will soon be joining her there.

I have used Briarwood many times. Our dogs love going, the owner is very knowledgeable. Also does grooming very well. Pricing is very reasonable. Honest place that knows dogs very well. I would highly recommend this place. A++

Dave knows his pups. Purchased a golden doodle from him and have never looked back. Best dog I've ever had. Everyone I know asks to adopt him if I ever need to give him up! Grooming is always a free lesson for me. His methods are tried and true and he has the happiest and well behaved dogs I've met.

I stopped in to look at the advertised goldendoodle puppies (asking $1500!!) and was horrified at the owner's gruff treatment of a dog who'd been dropped off earlier that morning. The owner didn't even know its name. The poor thing was clearly shocked at being there, & when the dog wouldn't go into the cage as directed, the owner yanked it up by its collar and tossed/dragged it in! There were a couple dozen dogs in the cages, and a preferred few - the owner's own dogs and a couple of others, who get to wander around more freely. This isn't doggy daycare - it's doggy jail!! Stay away!!

0 stars - should be shut down. I did not even get to the point where I allowed my dog to stay at this facility. Due to a last minute over-booking with my dog's current facility, Briarwood offered us the opportunity to board for a night last minute. Great! Now I know why there was availability... We arrived and at first I was not sure where to go so for obvious reasons, we headed up the hill towards the kennels away from busy 53. I began to hear this loud whistling and turned around to a man whistling at me and frantically waving his arms and shaking his head for me to walk back towards him. I wasn't sure if he was whistling at me or the dogs. He walked into his little shed and I assumed to follow where he sat at his computer and without looking in our direction started to demand info for myself and the dog. After having to explain to him the he was wrong about my dogs assumed breed and that he was reading my vets records incorrectly (but of course, this was my fault), he then told me to have my dog walk. Ok. So he walked and apparently, even though his nails were recently trimmed they were too long. So without asking, permission or any hesitation, he grabs my dog by the collar and has him jump up onto a rickety, rusty table, attach him to the table with about 4 tethers, grab a vacuum and nail drill and attempts to cut his nails. I said no thank you. He then grabbed a comb from god only knows where and when this comb has been and proceeded to try and comb my dog who was now panicking and shedding like crazy (which he does... he sheds, especially when being attacked by a crazy person). He asked me if this hair was all over my house? "Don't you have fur all over your house?!?!?! You need to comb him!" He is brushed every day. Me: Get my dog off the table, we are leaving. Briarwood guy: But I've been doing this 50 years! Me: Please let my dog off the table - we are leaving. Briarwood guy: But you haven't even seen the facility! Me: Give me my dog NOW 5 minutes to untie dog. If you love your pet, don't ever ever ever ever ever take them there.

We have been trusting the care of our dogs to Dave for over 10 years, first with our german shepard and now with our mini dauschund. Dave takes great care of the dogs, our shepard loved the pool! He is a professional when it comes to the care of dogs. Briarwood is a safe, clean place to board your dog.
