Dr. Ramón Chopra is very good, he explains well everything that your pet has and the best of this hospital that always makes room for an appointment for your pet. I recommend it

Moved here from out of state and saw good reviews- I didn’t look far enough into them. The good- reception girls are so incredibly sweet. The horrible- Brought my dog in for an ongoing medical problem. I brought my dog in with previous medical documentation and explained what was going on. The vet automatically tried to push my dog into a round of surgeries without any tests done or really answering any of my questions or addressing the concerns in front of him when I was there to discuss possible end of life as my last vet recommended. He asked his tech to take my dog in the back and do a round of labs and told me to get the results I’d just have to keep calling and waiting on hold until someone eventually takes me off hold and answers and immediately started talking to me about his vacation -nothing else. The part I had a major problem with is that when I initially called I was quoted a price between “$60-80” . When it came time to pay they told me I owe $325. When I asked what the heck that was for and they stated extra tests. A woman in the waiting area even stood up and said they were over charging me. I told them I didn’t feel comfortable with the way it was conducted and asked them to cancel her surgeries and tests and I would go elsewhere. At this point the tech went in the back and loudly/very sarcastically said “WELL I GUESS WERE JUST THROWING NIKKIS BLOOD AWAY” very aware that I could hear. I understand holidays are stressful but the level of disrespect I felt during an already difficult time was unparalleled. I wouldn’t go back here if it was my only choice.

Great vet office, they booked an appointment within the week. However I am a concerned about the price. The first visit was close to 200$, there are 4 visits remaining to get a puppy up to date with his vaccinations.. Does it usually cost 800$ to vacvinate a puppy?

The quality of care isn’t here. Sawyer wanted my cat to stay over night for more money even when others there knew it wasn’t best. sawyer didn’t even complete what my cat went in for and was just tramaizsed by the process. i heard horror stories about Dr Sawyer after i brought my cat there. Sawyer didn’t see that my friends dog had bloat when he went to him, she had to point out that he looked fat. sawyer was sending them out when she said that, and if she didn’t the dog would be dead. i don’t believe my cat got the care he needed and i was treated like a money bag coming in the door.

My pup needed to get his regular examination and yearly vaccinations in October. Being new in the area I was looking for a good Animal Hospital but in vain. I called several vets in the area(sorted by distance) but no one had any free slots until next year and some of them just blantly cut the call. Then one day suddenly I just came across East Boston Animal Hospital, I called and wallaa! Not only did I get an appointment but they were kind enough to adjust the timings as per my request. We had our 1st visit 1. Welcoming people at reception 2. Dr. Chopra and his assistant dr were amazing with the dog 3. Quick and informative 4. Very well handled the whole visit!! 100% recommended

The staff was so kind and efficient. I really felt like a valued customer that had been going there for many years, and it was only my first appointment.

Took our golden puppy here as it had good reviews and was super convenient to where we lived. They seem great on the phone but once you get there it’s so unprofessional and stressful. Our puppy had to get their deworming medication through them, and when we went to pick it up they would ask US what the dog needed. We are not the vet, you are?! Why would you ask a patient what treatment they need? We have no idea what dosage or medication name is needed. When we told them we needed his intestinal deworming medication they gave us heart worm medication instead, so we had to go back a third time just to get what we actually needed. The doctor is nice but talks WAY too fast and doesn’t explain things well at all even when you ask him to a million times. We went here twice and immediately decided to switch to a different vet after the second visit. Trust me, do not go here, go to Charleston Vet instead.

We've been bringing our cat to East Boston Animal Hospital for a few years now, and we've have had nothing but great experiences. Their prices are fair, the techs are very kind and skilled, and Dr. Chopra is clearly very knowledgable, compassionate, and pragmatic. Even our very old and grouchy cat is a big fan of Dr. Chopra!! Most importantly, she survived a life-threatening health scare a few years ago because of his extremely prompt and thorough emergency care. She stayed in the hospital for about a week to recover, during which time they helped me visit her, answered all my worried questions, and cared for her as if she was their own. Again, I can't speak highly enough of the level of care provided at East Boston Animal Hospital!

Always a long wait even with an appointment. Waiting room is too small for the number of animals that end up in there. Not very confident about the doctor either...

Update: When the time came to put down my cat, written about years ago below, EBAH was horrible. It wasn't Dr. Sawyers that I saw- I don't know who the vet was. I was obviously emotional that I needed to put my cat down, and I was treated with no sympathy or care. We were put into a room quickly, seemingly because I was emotional, not because they were ready for us. After sitting in a cold room for 20 mins, the vet came in and basically told me that if I had done x, y, and z for my 15 year old cat, she could have lived longer. He tried to convince me to do blood work to see if there was "anything that could be done"-- as a mother, I didn't WANT to be putting my cat down, I knew that it was time. She was unable to move to even urinate, even though she could eat and drink just fine. She was sick and it was time. The vet then left the room and a nurse came to get my cat, without explanation of what was going to happen. When I realized this was it, I asked for a moment to say goodbye. I shouldn't have had to ask for this. I've never experienced putting an animal down before, and the professionals should have been able to guide me through this difficult time. After they took her, we waited another 20 mins before my boyfriend found someone to ask what was happening, what was next. We were told we could pay and leave. When we went to the check out desk to pay, they said we couldn't pay yet since they hadn't done anything with my cat yet. So we had to wait another 20 mins. I have literally no idea what was happening. After all of this, I was charged over $250 to put my cat down and left unsure if she was even being taken care of. It was one of the most disturbing experiences of my life. Since this, I have heard numerous other horror stories from neighbors who have used this place and had horrific experiences. Bottom line is I was a dollar amount to them and my cat and I were of no personal concern to them. Dr. Sawyers saw my cat very last minute so that I could avoid going to the animal hospital (where the wait was 5+ hrs). He was kind and assuring that my kitty would be ok. After our appointment, he was good to follow up over the phone with me for the next couple of days. Pumpkin and I are very grateful!

They try to get you in here if you have an emergency + they can handle a lot of emergencies during business hours. The downside is that they accommodate a lot of animals and have no respect for client schedules and time--never an acknowledgement or apology for hour+ waits. Give yourself 2 hours for all appointments. Dr. Chopra is a kind and skilled veterinarian.

I had my first visit yesterday with my new puppy. They were great. Service was timely and vet was very knowledgeable and helpful. The staff was very courteous and professional. They are conveniently located and I'm happy so far to stick with them and see how it goes.

Very clean, the staff are excellent and thoughtful with my dog and are quick with appointments and filling prescriptions. Down side is you must park down the street, but I have always found parking.

The worst experience I’ve had at a vet, they almost kill my kitten with the wrong medication, the place is nasty, expensive and the customer service specially from the doctor is awful, they treat their patients as things not animals.

Our 1st visit with our new puppy. We found all the staff to be helpful & kind- front desk folks, the vet tech & Dr. Chopra. The visit went smoothly & everything our pup needed was explained clearly. We will return soon!

I have a very sweet yet somewhat anxious senior dog. I had been calling around everywhere to try and get an appointment. Everyone is booking in June Or July. East Boston squeezed me in with just a few hours notice. So appreciated that and all the staff was great. I will be going back for sure

One of the worst place. Stand there for five mins, and not even one person talked to me. They all saw me, and looked away.

I had to put my 20 year old cat to sleep. They fit me in right away that day. I wasn't a patient there before. The veterinarian and staff were so understanding and helped me through the process.
