River Road was my go to vet as of ten plus years ago. Having my cat there from 2weeks until he passed. But now with my two new pets and with new owners of the facility the care has changed. The staff patience and consideration is no longer as it was before. They do not put any consideration when dealing with anyone and seem too annoyed to answer questions. Everyone there lately has been on different pages, giving different information with each phone call. It’s honestly very sad to see how much has changed there. For some of us our pets truly mean everything and if the staff don’t understand that they shouldn’t be there.

We started going to this Veterinary hospital in July 2021. I was unimpressed with this hospital from the start. I saw several red flags but my wife wanted to stay with them. The support staff is rude and Incompetent. The communication was rushed every time we visited. Bottom line, don’t you want a veterinary hospital that is going to provide great service and help and support your family along the wonderful journey of owning a pet? Yes, we do too… so we left.

My appointment was for 11:20, I arrived at 11:15 . I called when I got there at 11:15 , message said no one available right now to answer phone this went on for 15 minutes, after finally getting thru after multiple calls the woman who answered said I was late and she had to give up my appointment. I was not late no one answered the phone until 11:30 , my first call was 11:15. The woman insulted me by saying I was late when actually I was there 5mins early . They don’t answer the phone then say you’re late, what a joke!

I am SO happy that I found River Road Veterinary Hospital. I was nervous about my timid senior cat going for a visit. The entire staff was kind, caring, and professional. They checked in with me multiple times throughout my kitty's visit and followed up a few days later to see how she was feeling. Your pets are in great hands at this office.

I order several hundreds of dollars of flea and tick for my 2 dogs and cat along with heartguard every year. I received the wrong dog collar (too small) and after trying to return their error, they would not honor the return and I had to buy another $67 collar. I am taking my business elsewhere.

Would not recommend for any services outside of routine shots and checkups. For more serious ailments, you should go elsewhere.

Love Dr. Tracie, Michelle and all the staff. Had a problem with my kitty and saw him right away. Called me the next day to check on him. Definitely my other family doctor. S.W.

Took my pregnant dog here to make sure everything was okay and because her tongue looked infected. They were quick and very helpful, also very nice people and caring. I’m glad I brought her here instead of anywhere else. I plan to keep bringing her here from now on, I would definitely recommend this place, also they were good with letting me know prices before anything and didn’t make me feel like all they cared about was money. I thank them so much for treating my Dog and me more than great.

If you have Amanda Fogaren as your furbaby’s vet, consider yourself in good hands! My cat has been overgrooming himself and it’s worrying to me. Dr.Fogaren has been keeping in touch with me through email for about a month now with follow ups and questions I may have. She also did amazing examining and relying to me what could possibly be wrong with him. Especially now during Covid I can’t be there during the examination, but I feel safe & trusting that she is taking care and thoroughly examining my Dexter ! Only thing I don’t like about this place is the visitation fees lol, but other than that River Road veterinary is a safe and caring place for your furbabies ????

This is a terrific veterinary hospital! The staff is very professional and well trained. Dr Tracie Fournas is an excellent diagnostician and communicator. And the nurse as well as the other staff members are very helpful and warm .... you can tell they enjoy working there. I feel fortunate to have found such a great place to take my little springer spaniel for the next 14 years

The facility is extremely modern and very clean. The doctors seem extremely knowledgeable and kind. However I had to switch offices due to the incredibly unprofessional rude receptionist. My puppy (11 week old German shepherd) had blood in his urine, and when I called to make an appointment the rude or receptionist told me that if I couldn’t be there at 4 o’clock the next appointment would be 6 PM the following day mind you I informed her of the blood in his urine and her response to me was “ he clearly had this infection for more then a day so one more day will not hurt him”. When I originally called I asked to speak to a vet or a veterinarian tech which she refused to put on the phone and was a complete gate keeper with unhelpful advice in very poor manners. Stay clear of Alexis Colon she is super angry and should not be working around pets. She is completely disrespectful. After bringing my 11 week old German Shepherd to Andover animal Hospital I found out my dog had a rare severe urinary track infection and needed to be put on antibiotics right away because he was suffering in this rude receptionist had no heart whatsoever. Shame on Alexis she is an angry dreadful women. Very sad that that a very nice hospital has a vile person working at the front desk. Shame shame on her

Staff is very friendly, veterinarians are amazing, but the staff wouldn't let me go back with my dog for a shot after I was told I could because he was terrified of shots. He ended up pooping on the floor from fear and they charged us for it.(before COVID)

The vet techs and veterinarian are incredibly knowledgeable, well-educated, kind, and professional!! Our 8-year old doggie was so calm during his visit because the staff are very calm and know how to soothe pets and their owners. The vet, vet techs, and assts. also make a genuine effort to get to know you, too. We couldn't go inside with our dog because of Covid precautions - which is understandable - but our dog was still so calm because of their kind handling of this difficult situation. The vet called us explained all of the results of our dog's checkup, and asked if we had any questions. She patiently listened and gave us detailed information for our dog's dental treatment plan. Then we picked up our doggie in the vestibule. Facility-wise, the building is very easy to see from the road, the entrance is wide open, and parking is ample. I highly recommend them because the staff at River Road Animal Hospital truly and compassionately care for the animals you love. :)

We are brand new to River Road in 2020 and what a bright spot to find. Took our adult kitty for a checkup, and I was so impressed their COVID safety protocols. My 5 year old daughter (who wants to be a vet when she grows up) was sad that it meant she could not meet the veterinarian and accompany our cat, but we were able to speak with the doctor on the phone together from the car. They told her that when it was safe again, she could bring her favorite stuffed animal in too for a check up and ask all her questions. She was thrilled. THEN they sent out a glove balloon with a face and “See you next time” written on the back, tied to the crate for her. She was so happy. Such a simple act of kindness that made her day. They took great care of our cat, and he obviously felt comfortable there because they described him as calm. When he came back to the car, he didn’t make any nervous meows like he did the whole ride there. He was calm and happy. Such a great experience!

Extremely disappointed. I was looking for a second opinion for my 7 year old dog who has arthritis. He continues to limp and I was looking for ways to improve his quality of life and comfort. The only reason I am giving this "hospital" 2 stars is because the vet tech was so kind and actually listened to what I had to say prior to the visit. The vet, Dr. Prue, called me only 15 minutes after I gave him to the tech. I must say, as a medical professional myself I am astonished at how much she lacks compassion, empathy, and frankly, basic communication skills such as listening to the "patient" (in this case, the dogs parent). A word of advice- you can gain so much from gathering a history instead of merely looking at previous vet records and in Dr. Prue's words, "agreeing" with everything they had to say. She immediately told me my dog has arthritis (which I already knew) and she would refer me to a "orthopedic surgeon for laser surgery and possibly some surgery that may help with arthritis." Again, as a provider myself, I would ask questions and try to gain a sense of what is going on and ALSO start with least invasive interventions first. It's almost as if she did not even examine my dog but just looked at the records that were provided to her. She stated was also unable to even view the xray in the records- so she went off the report. Maybe do another X-ray to see if anything is new or worsened?! I was happy to pay. No other differential diagnoses were even considered (at this point, not surprising since she gathered no history). I had to ask her what else she would recommend. She told me this "Should have been taken care of sooner" (my dog previously fell off a small chair in December which was a minor fall). If she would have LISTENED she would know that it was a simple fall but the limp became noticable then. Also, who tells someone it's essentially their fault their dog has a disability? I explained he has been to the vet multiple times. She then stated, "Well, you just picked someone who happens to be me, I'm just a generalist." No... you are a veternarian who I paid $120 for and wasted a total of 2 hours of my evening, and was told to call around to ortho vets and also be sure to get the xray films. What a disservice to my beloved pet and also to myself. Shame on you.

Early today I dropped off my dog for some shots & I was happy with my experience. The process was fast and given the fact that corona has effected many, I was told ahead of time what I needed to do to ensure everyone’s safety. My dog was well taken care of and I would like to thank staff member Alexis Colon for the great customer service that she provided and I would recommend this place to everyone around the area who is looking to bring their pet to a vet.

As soon as I called River Road Vet I was greeted professionally. They were phenominal with doing everything possible to follow covid safety guidelines, and were up front with everything. Amanda took such great care of sydney and was very thorough in going over everything that my 14 year old dachshund needed. I will be coming back for my visits from here on for sure. Thank you river road for being so good to my little friend!
