Great people. Got shelter dog from deep south. Supposedly 2 years old....NOT...she is old. @ 5-7 at least. Not Great Dog fault. We still love her. Sleeps all day so who could complain. Very nice organization

I want to start off by saying that while I do believe this is a great organization, I was extremely disappointed by the lack of response I received with a dog we adopted in 12/2021. This was the 2nd dog that we had adopted from GDRNE, after our 1st (who was the most amazing dog ever) passed away. The dog seriously bit both of my children (ages 11 and 14 at the time) on several occasions (without any type of provocation), and I reached out for help numerous times. In fact, my daughter has scars from one of the bites. After several emails suggesting specific trainers (the trainers that I had used were excellent, so that was not the issue), I spoke with with one of their behavioral specialists who took down all of the info and told me she would get back to me, though it may not be for 2 or 3 days. I never heard back from her, and when I reached out to her, she said she passed in her evaluation and I would not hear back until a possible foster was available (which is not what she had originally told me). I never heard back again, even after emailing. Other reputable organizations suggested that the dog be put down, which I could not bring myself to do. They ask that you contact them before surrendering a dog elsewhere, but why, since they made no effort, and they clearly did not care about the well being of my kids.

We have two female rescues from Great Dog Rescue, Juneau and Maisie, and couldn't be happier. They're 4 and 3 now, and we got them when they were puppies. The nicest people volunteer there. The adoption process was smooth. They come with all their shots, and our vet was impressed with the records.

We adopted Buddy. Reputable, volunteer rescue. If a dog is showing on the website, it is available. I applied to some other agencies and never heard a word, and some agencies say the dog listed may or may not be available. Very frustrating since you wonder if you should apply for more than one at the same time. Communication was fairly good considering they are all volunteers who may likely be working a regular job. Descriptions were clear with likes and dislikes, good with..., etc. Health records received with all vacs listed.

Loved what they do for the animals

As much as I love also like the job they do for animals' sake, this is the 4th place I tried to contact in order to adopt a dog because ours died few months ago and due to COVID-19 it has been impossible even to get an answer from any place after filling up forms, making calls to no avail. Because of COVID-19 pets don't get a forever homes and pet lovers are frustrated and tired.....It's impossible these days...Don't even try!

On 5/18/19 I rescued such a sweet boy who was named Ringo but is now named Scout. The process was quick once I applied to adopt him! I fell in love at first site of him in pictures and even more so after speaking with his Foster mom. He came here from Tennessee and since I live in Massachusetts the law required him to be quarantined for 3 days once he arrived in the State. His first weekend with us was difficult for him but his big brother Apollo also a rescue from 8 years ago not from GDRNE really helped him settle in. I keep in touch with his Foster Mom on Facebook and we exchange Christmas Cards. I made a new friend and she gets to see and hear all about her boy! I will definitely adopt from here again when I add to my family. Thanks for finding the Love of my Life!

We rescued our pup from GDRNE just over a year ago, and could not have been happier. Though the waiting was nerve wracking from when we were accepted as adopters to when we officially got word our pup was coming up to massachusetts, the …

I picked up my new pup (formerly named Naill) last Wednesday. Prior to picking him up our emails were received in a timely and professional manner. The foster mother Leah was amazing at answering questions and making sure the pup would be a good fit, and he’s the perfect fit to say the least. Kayla who was the adoption coordinator was equally amazing and helpful before and after the pick up date. Our new pup, now names Beau is very well behaved and we couldn’t be happier with the experience from start to finish. Would definitely recommend GDRNE!

GDRNE helped us to adopt our puppy Casey aka Henry when we adopted him. They couldn’t have been more helpful and thorough with the process. Kait and Jackie were incredible to work with! They answered every question we had and have been available for help since then. We will be recommending Great Dog to all our friends looking to adopt!

We have adopted 2 dogs with great dog rescue and I couldn’t be happier. Obviously I love my dogs but the experience itself was incredibly easy and, especially the first pup, informative. They were communicative and thorough in their adoption process to ensure we had a mutual fit. I couldn’t recommend them enough!

We adopted our first pup from GDRNE 2/8/2020 and couldn’t be happier with the whole experience. Our adoption coordinator was responsive and took care of all the details. We are so in love with our now 9 month old pup and can’t imagine our lives without him!

I had the pleasure of adopting a dog through GDRNE last October. The adoption process was very thorough and professional. Due to the thoroughness of the adoption application I was matched with the sweetest southern girl. She came fully vetted including being spayed and tested for parasites and heartworm. The volunteers do an incredible job from rescue to adoption. I highly recommend this organization.

I have adopted 2 dogs from GDRNE over the years. One was a beagle puppy over 12 years ago & after he passed on I knew I wanted to adopt another beagle from GDRNE in his honor. While my “newer” adult beagle was a bit of a challenge when he first arrived, I knew exactly what to expect because GDRNE was very upfront. I was able to speak to his TN foster mom on numerous occasions & despite his “quirks” I was prepared & up for the challenge. My adoption coordinator was equally upfront and responsive. Two years later and I can’t imagine life without him.I wouldn’t hesitate to adopt from them again. They are an amazing group of dedicated volunteers doing their best to find dogs their perfect forever home.

We just adopted a beautiful little girl on June 13, 2020. Our rescue coordinator was so responsive with any questions we had. I would recommend this organization and commend them for their hard work. Our veterinarian was impressed with the level of health care she received and the documentation she came with. We had an excellent experience.

We adopted our dog Leo from great dog about 2 years ago. We were interested in a puppy and it was a bit frustrating at first because the puppies get adopted so quickly. Then after a few tries we put in an application for Leo and were accepted! Once we were accepted the adoption process was smooth and quick. We spoke with our adoption coordinator about his details, then the home visit and references were completed. We spoke a few times with his southern foster, she gave us in depth detail about his personality etc and sent us lots of videos and pictures. He has been a great match for our family and we cant imagine life without him! The rescue does their best to match all dogs with appropriate families and be honest about the dogs temperament and behavior. After we adopted Leo we stayed in contact with the adoption coordinator and foster. We joined a few facebook pages specifically for great dog new England owners, it is a great resource if you have issues down the line with training etc. They try to keep in contact with all owners and be available for any issues. The staff are all volunteers and still have full time jobs and lives to tend to in addition to the rescue. I highly recommend this rescue to find your new best friend!
