No covid protocols in place. I felt very uncomfortable being in the small confined exam room with Dr Smith and a technician, both were not masked (I was). I couldn't cancel my appointment because they'd already charged my credit card over the phone when I made the appointment (as a "deposit" - very strange!). Vaccine rates for my dog seemed high. Would not return next year even if covid pandemic is over.

Dr. Smith and the whole team have been just a joy to work with. We had a mediocre experience at another vet so we decided to take our beagle here. For our first appointment, both the veterinarian and the tech had a terrific bedside manner: both immediately got down on the floor with the dog and played with him for about 10 minutes teaching him a trick and getting to know him. I didn't feel rushed at all and I felt like they really cared about the animal and wanted to learn more about me and the dog to understand his situation, his background, and his health. I also got some really great tips on training during that time. Not only that, she was able to treat my dog's cherry eye for a fraction of the cost of a chain ophthalmologist in Ellicott city. Of course the price for that chain was astronomical, so the surgery I'm not going to say was cheap, but it was certainly reasonable given that it was eye surgery. On the day of the surgery, Dr. Smith called me after she had realized that it might make sense for me to have him fixed given that the major expense for that was the anesthesia, and then he would only need to wear the cone once. (She knew I had planned to get him fixed with the county in about a month.) So not only did she shave me a lot of time,, it led to a better outcome for our dog. All in all, Vinson animal hospital has been a pleasure to work with and I'm so happy that we found our loving little beagle a new doc!

Not sure about this place. Had to switch to another vet in the same building since the one I had didn't believe my dog had a uti until I pushed her to test him and my instinct was correct. She also said he didn't have a luxating patella on either leg when the orthopedic specialist got his right one to move out of place so he has a grade 1 diagnosed. I might look elsewhere for my dog's neutering. Gotta think on it...

Under the Covid guidelines it is hard to wait while your dog is seen. However, Dr. Kakel and her staff were wonderful. They continually kept me apprised of the process. Wonderful place. I have been going there since 1978.

Dr. Forester & Dr. Smith are both great with my current GSD, who is quite a handful, as well as all of my prior GSD's. They have provided excellent care for my dogs over the years. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

They were very Covid cautious and courteous. We needed a microchip and nail trim and they were able to squeeze us in quickly. Great communication.

I recently moved to the area and brought my pet in February when he hurt himself chewing on a stick. The doctors and staff were great with him! Saw him same day. I took all three of my dogs for annuals and asked for a marble sized bump that popped up on my oldest leg to be looked at. He had to have it removed and tested. The techs and doctors were great! I only wish the front staff was a little nicer. One individual is very abrasive and not willing to help unless it has to do with scheduling or billing. I called to ask about my dog the day of the surgery and she was far from kind, and borderline out right rude. The rest of the staff is great though! Makes up for her 100% 5 stars without her!

We just adopted our 6 month old dog 3 weeks ago. We think she has tapeworm, therefore we don't want to hold off to see our new vet until late next week. Given that Ruxton has good reviews, I decided to call to see if we could get in sooner. She said "tomorrow at 10:30" I said "ok, we have an appointment with another vet...." and couldn't get the rest of my sentence out b/c the receptionist had to cut me off to say "well we are taking deposits for appts, & then appts' have to be cancelled within 24 hrs" maybe if she would have listened to what I was saying about not wanting to wait to see another vet until next week which is why I was calling to get into Ruxton sooner. Really unprofessional in my opinion and also what vet takes "deposits." What a joke

We've brought our pets to Vinson Animal Hospital for twenty years. Dr Smith, the other vets, and the staff are all great. Like all veterinarians, it can be a little costly but good care for your animal usually is.

I bring my 4 dogs & 2 cats 2 Vinsons. Priceyer than some, better than most. We all decide what's most important 2 us; I'll cut corners @ the grocer, not on my guy's doctors

Don't go if you have an emergency and they know it. Went with our cat who was dehydrated and had not eaten for some time apparently (I got this cat from a shelter only the day before). They charged us 150 dollars for exam, antibiotic shot, infusion and three cans of special food (a/d). Get baby food instead if you are on a budget. Subcutaneous infusion alone was 35 dollars. You can get this for half that amount in other clinics. On the upside we got an appointment within 2 hours of calling and did not have to wait at all.

Dr. Smith is very gentle but thorough. My puppies have loved her. My older dogs feel secure here. A great diagnostician. Dr. Smith treats bladder cancer like no one else I know and I have bred scottish terriers for 35+ years and been to a lot of vets.

Very nice people, the vets seem like they're keeping up to date with the latest information, and they don't recommend stuff you don't need
