Sub vet Dr. Boston did a wonderful job. Took time to examine Jack thoroughly. Asked a series of pertinent questions and communications a wealth of information on a clear and concise manner. Was patient with me as I asked many questions and had her repeat some of her responses for my continued home care. Technician was extremely helpful in explaining the medications and the need for a follow up visit. Could not be more satisfied with the care given by the vet and tech.

It was my first experience/interaction with Dr. Vaughan and I was thoroughly unimpressed; I would avoid her like a COVID-19 infection. She was exceptionally unprofessional- raising her voice with a “client”- it seems as though she has a superiority complex that needs to be knocked down a few pegs. I strongly recommend that she takes a few seminars on interpersonal communication to polish her disposition, which is in dire need of attenuation. Again, raising your voice and speaking down to clients is a big no-no, if you cherish a successful business. Regarding the treatment of my animal, I have no complaints. The office staff was welcoming and exceptional. The dog was treated better than the person *paying* the bill.

Dr. Fennel is by far the best and most thorough vet we have had. We have moved so many times and have had many vets, and she exceeds them all. Very thorough, doesn't make me feel rushed, very professional and explains things clearly and answers all of my questions. I am so happy we found colonial! All of the staff and front desk employees have also been great so far. The prices are pretty standard compared to others, they are more thorough which means you will likely spend more money, but I would rather have that any day compared to a vet not really figuring out what is wrong. They have a wellness plan that seems worthwhile too. Thank you!

I trust everyone here. They are caring and careful and wonderful people. I have been going to Colonial Animal Hospital since the 1980s with dogs and now cats. I love them and trust my animals with them.

Dr. Vaughan and Dr. Fennell, along with all the staff, are really pleasant and knowledgeable. My cat actually doesn’t mind the vet visits so much, as they have great bedside manners and are quite patient. I would recommend, and have done so!

With a rescue in my care for 3 days, I appreciated Dr. Fennell and the tech assistant coming to talk to me and SHOW me the behaviors Kevin Hart needed to work on. Direct and sincere, and I like that.

I've been on the hunt for a good vet home for my 1 y/o pup for ten months now. We finally found our home! A neighbor recommended them and I am so glad he did. Dr. Fennell did a great job taking care of my pups umbilical hernia & tooth extraction, she has professional bedside manner, and very thorough. The staff are very kind and professional as well.

For over 14 years our dog has been seen by the same wonderful and caring veterinarian. We love the consistency in treatment.

This place does not care about your pets or about owner input at all. My senior cat has hyperthyroidism. My husband and I came to the appointment specifically saying to the vet that we were comfortable monitoring our cat's condition (as my husband is a doctor and I worked for years in clinical pathology) and are aware of the clinical presentation of the disease and associated symptoms and that we DID NOT want to have to bring him in every few weeks for continuous blood work. We believe that clinical thresholds are not as indicative of health as presentation of symptoms (which yes, the owner if more likely to notice). We were very clear about this, very upfront. We even offered to sign an "against medical advice" agreement stating that we take responsibility for the decision to forgo constant blood draws and any associated repercussions! We were very reasonable and straightforward. A different vet calls a couple days later saying that unless we bring in our 15 year old cat for more (expensive) blood tests, that they will not refill his medicine.... how cruel and callous is that? To place an old animal's life in danger unless you agree to drag them in whenever they demand, shell out a hundred bucks or more at a time, stressing the cat out needlessly I might add.... more than ridiculous, I call it unethical.

I had a very bad experience ???? the person who treated me was upset because he could not pay for a cure for my dog ​​that it was not covered by insurance and it was very expensive. she got upset and she told me that she will take me my dog ​​who was very spoiled and that has not happened in other places she is a sweetheart.????????

I wrote a review back in January 2020 which did not give a very favorable one, ie vet shaming etc. Funny how my review isn't viewable or shared with others...Shame on you!! Front desk staff are amazing and one doctor is awesome...the other not so much and I would avoid her like the plague.

We switched to Colonial after going to Hayfield Animal Hospital for 14 years. I won't get into my issues with Hayfield in this review, but let's just say I'm so happy we switched! The positive highlights: 1. They seem to always have same day or next day appointments available when I call. They don't try to fit me in three days from now and charge me an emergency fee for it because they're booked. If I'm going to pay an emergency fee, then you're not going to make me wait 3 days for it *coughHayfieldcough*. 2. Dr. Vaughan is simply amazing. She is gentle with my dogs, explains things very well, and makes personal follow-up calls to check on my pups. 3. The office is clean. 4. The staff are friendly. I really don't have anything negative to say about them. They're doing a great job and will keep my business for as long as we live in Springfield.

Brought our dog into the vet to get her nails clipped. She does not like having her nails done so most people will not attempt to do this with a 75 lb. Pit. These folks were fast and did a great job. Verry happy with the effort and the great job.

I have been a client of Colonial Animal Hospital since 1980. I used Colonial with my cats and dogs from kitty/puppy stage through end of life stage. When I heard the vets at Colonial were retiring and sold I worried about who was going to take over Colonial Hospital. Enter the new vets. I've had the most experience with Dr. Fennell. Dr. Fennell has such a fabulous connection with all our pets. She explains whatever is going on with my pets and offers medication or other suggestions to help my pet get better. Her staff is equally personable and handles the pets in a compassionate, responsible way. I would highly recommend Colonial Animal Hospital.
