I have never known a more dedicated team of animal lovers. They know how to care for your for baby and for your family. When it was time to say goodbye to our Rusty, their compassion was just what we needed during a difficult time.

When our puppy got ahold of a holiday plant, I wasn’t sure if it was toxic or not. Thankfully, New Market Animal Hospital has someone available almost daily to answer questions or be seen if necessary. They were able to calm me down in just a few minutes and I avoided an unnecessary vet visit.

Do not subject yourselves and your pets to this horrible place. We've had several problems with this vet before, but the latest incident solidified their position as a greedy, vindictive, unprofessional, and unskilled, veterinary clinic. When we took our Beagle in for a rabies shot, general grooming, and for a limp, we were told the limp was most likely due to a long nail that dug into her pad and would probably be OK. We were also told she had a hematoma in her ear and would likely require surgery. We asked about the cost of that type of surgery and were told anywhere from $400-600 dollars so we decided to think about it and not schedule the surgery that day. We should mention, our Beagle had both her eyes removed about a year ago as a result of a condition. That surgery cost about a thousand dollars and we had it done at a family vet clinic on the Eastern Shore. Since then, our Beagle declined in health and happiness. Her quality of life had deteriorated and she spent most of her day sleeping. Leading up to this visit with New Market Animal Hospital, she was refusing to use her back right leg. So we brought her in and the result of that is aforementioned. So, our Beagle is blind, refusing to use her back right leg, has a hematoma in her ear requiring surgery, has a poor quality of life, and is going on 11 years. We made the difficult decision of euthanizing her. So we made an appointment with New Market Animal Hospital. Within a few hours of making the appointment, we got a call back telling us to put her up for adoption or find some other option. We said we would consider it and thanks. We decided to take our Beagle to another vet for a second opinion where it was discovered that she had a spinal injury and severe loss of muscle mass in her hind legs which was causing discomfort and the refusal to use her leg. New Market Animal Hospital said this was due to a long nail.... This discovery, along with the prospective costs for now another surgery, our decision for euthanasia made more sense. The new vet was in total agreement. Now, when the new vet requested our Beagles old records from New Market Animal Hospital, they were told NO and that if our Beagle was euthanized that they would sue both us and the vet. It took about an hour for New Market Animal Hospital to cave and send the records. This caused a tremendous amount of stress for my wife and I during this time. The next day, New Market Animal Hospital called the new vet to demand the records for the latest visit and reiterated their threat to sue us and the vet. The new vet, being a sensible and sane human being, declined their demand because we, the clients, had not given permission to transfer the records back to New Market Animal Hospital. We've done quite a bit a research into New Market Animal Hospital and their owners and we urge you to take the time and do so yourself. I believe the research will enlighten you to the type of business this is. The notes from the New Market Animal Hospital during the initial exam state that we wanted to euthanize out of convenience for ourselves and because it was expensive. What "animal-loving" vet has the audacity to make such a statement and assume a euthanasia decision is about money and convenience rather than the consideration of the quality of life of a beloved animal whom whom we've loved and cared for for the past 10 years. Our children have grown up with our beagle and we would put her down out of convenience for ourselves? These are the types of people working at this facility. Pursuant to this advisement to the public on this forum, we are filing a official complaint with the Maryland's Veterinary Medical Board with the medical records and official statements and recounts of the threatening phone calls. If New Market Animal Hospital sees this, be ashamed of yourselves and be advised that you are not to contact us. Our Beagle Bailey passed very peacefully surrounded by family and now resides on our property next to other beloved family pets. *Update - Still a horrible company with horrible staff :)

Our dog was very sick and they saw us in 10 minutes after I called. My own vet wouldn't see us for 7 hours, but New Market treated me as an emergency. The team couldn't have been better.

Everyone here is so friendly and really care about the pets they see every day. I love that we get a discount because we adopted our cats instead of buying them. Even their spay and neuter were affordable.

There aren’t many places that are actually open on Sunday but I needed to find a vet that was because that is the only day off I have. New Market Animal Hospital is open on Sunday and Dr. Chand is an incredible vet!

My whole family brings all of our pets to New Market Animal Hospital mainly because they have the much lower prices that we can afford. Just because we are on fixed government assistance incomes doesn’t mean our pets can’t get high quality health care.

You would hope veterinarians put the animal first and not the money. This definitely is true about New Market Animal Hospital Dr. Chan. He puts them first. He has help me many times with my furr babies. I recommend Dr. Chan over any veterinarian in the area!! ????????????????⬛

20 Years and 3 Dogs cared for by this wonderful place. Our new boy Remi, hurt is foot late on a Sunday after playing in the yard with his brothers. We rushed him to the vet as they were closing! The Staff was so caring and helpful they took Remi back and fixed his poor little cut paw with 7 stitches, and lots of hugs. The kindness this place and its Staff has shown us over the years is fabulous, after the passing of our other boys they sent beautiful cards of condolence. I wouldn't trust any other place with my fur babies ! Thank you New Market Animal Hospital !!

Yesterday, my mother and I took our dog to New Market Animal Hospital. Our appointment was for 10:30 AM which we arrived around 10:20-10:25 AM. This was our dogs first time so we knew there’d be a new patient paper to fill out. We had this completed on around 5 minutes leaving us 5 minutes to sit before the appointment was supposed to begin. We didn’t sit down in the examining room UNTIL 11:05!!!!! Our dog was in pain from his back area which was causing him to try and bite the doctor, which called for a muzzle (I’m ok with this, don’t want anyone getting bit). The doctors proceeds to pull out a small green wrist bang looking muzzle (never have seen one like this before). The muzzle was TOO SMALL for my dog but he kept shoving the muzzle onto his face which was causing him to cry out in the pain. Instead of slipping that one off and placing a bigger one on, he PUT ANOTHER ONE OVERTOP the green one!!! Restricting any movement and at this point comprising his teeth together. The doc proceeded with his check up, nothing out of the ordinary. Finally he stated we’d need to leave our dog for an hour and half for bloodwork and X-rays, THATS ALL. So after the appointment, in the lobby waiting for the bill, we could see a nurse carrying our dog and basically THROW HIM into the top cage. After doing this and turning around she saw us and her eyes got HUGE, knowing that’s not how you handle animals, especially animals at the vet under YOUR CARE. To top this off we were given a bill for over $500 dollars with stuff added the doctor NEVER spoke about. The bill didn’t matter after seeing our dog treated like this, we left. We paid the appointment bill which ONLY CAME TO 51 BUCKS. They tried adding ANOTHER 450 dollars to the bill. After leaving my mother and I had the STRONG feeling we weren’t wanted there/ we were taking away from their time. Mostly like we were in the way of their usual customers. I DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING YOUR ANIMAL HERE. ESPECIALLY IF YOU KNOW YOU MAY HAVE TO LEAVE THEM UNATTENDED

I am so happy I went to see this place!! I was with Banfield for years. I just got 2 Rottweiler puppy’s and one of the puppy’s eye became swollen bad. I first called the banfield vet they would go to, only to be told they could not see me to a week out and pretty much showed no Compassion or concern for the puppy’s eye. So I called New Market and the lady who picked up the phone was so Compassionate and schedule me an appointment with 1 hr of my call at 8 am. When I walked in I had the warmest greeting not only for my self but for my puppy as well. The staff immediately got me set up with paperwork and plan and the dog was back in the exam room with in 10 to 15 minutes being seen . Words can’t describe how this makes a pet owner feel Especially when it comes to our pets. Blood work was done and doctor was straight to the point. Bottom line great over all experience . I am happy I found my puppy’s the perfect place !!!

My pup took a nasty spill and was limping and whimpering pretty badly. It was Sunday and I know how I would have felt if I was in pain and I was told to wait until Monday. That didn’t happen because the ever considerate Dr. Chand said to bring him on in even though the office was closed. That is just so out of the ordinary and so very appreciated.

While both my dog’s and my cat’s health are priceless to me, I feel obligated to say that the pricing here at New Market is more than competitive. It beats every other veterinary establishment I have ever utilized.

New Market Animal Clinic is a very nice vet. The staff is so helpful and Dr. Chand is great with my cat. I love that they are open on Sunday. I don’t have to take off from work this way. I recommend Dr. Chand if you need a new vet.

Dr. Chand has been our veterinarian for several years and we really like him. Everyone there really cares for the animals and my two cats benefit from such skilled care. This is the only place I will bring them for care.

We are regulars at New Market for basic care for both our dog and cat pet ‘children’ but just recently appreciated them even more when our poor little Corgi began vomiting profusely late on a Sunday night. We were beside ourselves with worry but the amazingly available Dr. Chand calmed us over the phone, asked all the right questions and was able to determine the cause and tell us what to do.

Walked into their office for an appointment and neither receptionist even looked up at me. I had to announce my presence and even then, they barely acknowledged me. One was on the computer and one the phone. I get that things get busy, I am a receptionist as well and I work alone but, even on the phone, I still make sure my customers know that I see them. They ignored me for another 10-15 minutes before someone finally brought me the paperwork I was supposed to fill out. Waited another 15 minutes to see the vet, who barely touched my animal, made some half baked joke and told me I was good to go. I showed myself back to the front desk to pay where I was ignored again! Stood there holding my wallet for a few minutes before a technician chased me down and insisted on blood work which was an additional $95. Then she tried to take off with my animal and leave me there. I insisted on being in the room because the feeling I’d gotten from the place so far was not great and I didn’t trust them. This time at the front desk someone actually acknowledged me….so they could take my money! Day of the surgery I was ignored upon entering the building again, her incision from the spay is crooked, and they called me for pickup and failed to notify the front desk. When I arrived to pick her up, the receptionist said she was still asleep. I played her the voicemail from someone else there, stating that she was ready to be picked up, and they brought her out very much awake. Now they’ve had the audacity to email and mail me things as if I would ever even consider taking any of my animals there ever again! Do not send me “welcome” cards. You will not see me again! Terrible customer service and questionable veterinary work. Ridiculous.

Misdiagnosed my dog's condition and wait is always more than they say. Some of the staff are very kind.

Though health of my animals is priceless to me I have to say that I came to New Market on the recommendation of a fellow animal lover based on her reporting that the fees here are substantially lower than what I had been paying. If the care was sub-standard, I would not be here but if anything, I feel Dr. Chand and the whole gang are superior to my former vet.

New Market is the only vet that I will bring my two cats. They truly care for the animals and are very friendly. In addition, they have lower prices. Two thumbs up and all the stars go into their favor. This is such a great place for pets.

I have thought long and hard about posting this review but I cant just let it go. I took my healthy 5 year old cat, Morgan, to New Market Animal Hospital at the end of May 2021 because I wanted to " do the right thing" and get her updated with her shots. Within a week of bringing her home after the shot, her behavior started to change and she stopping wanting to eat/drink and her breathing became labored. I took her back to Dr. Chand and I was told she had a mass or something on her intestines and exploratory surgery would cost thousands. At this point, My cat had gone a week without eating and I did not want her to suffer so I opted for euthanasia because Dr. Chand said he was a poor candidate for surgery. This is where this nightmare got worse, Dr. Chand told me I could come by and spend time with Morgan before putting her down. When I arrived to see my cat, the vet tech that came out to see me rolled her eyes at me when I said I wanted to see Morgan one last time. She didnt great me or offer her condolences or thank me for using their services. I was able to see Morgan one last time outside of the clinic in the hot 90+ degree weather. When I went to pick-up her remains, this past week. It was much of the same, the vet tech came out and said nothing to me. I do not recommend New Market Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a place to take care of their beloved pet. I regret ever deciding to come to this establishment. Let me repeat, she was in perfect health before I brought her to New Market Animal hospital RIP Morgan

I came here because they were open on Sunday and we keep coming because of the excellent veterinary services. The office is nice and very clean, the employees are friendly, and everyone is helpful. I know that I am getting the best care for my cats.

Awful experience! Needed to neuter and spay my cats, got a quote over the phone of $125 per cat for everything. When took my cats to their office I ended up paying $417 for pre-op and got another estimate for the neutering fees of between $425-$450 for only one cat. After letting them know that it is wrong to charge me this much and do not want them to perform the procedure they give me their discounted price range which was still three times more than other places. When dropped off the cats for surgery got a call that more blood work is needed for one of my cat due to blood result and they could not give me an estimate until the work gets completed. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Their customer serviced is horrible. PetSmart will perform pre-op exam, blood work, surgery, vaccinations, pain medication all for $350. Call Frederick Humane Society and ask them to refer you to ethical businesses for your furry needs with reasonable prices.

Though I didn't meet Dr. Chand, he seemed very nice by phone. Brought Chance in for limping and just starting to have issues with hind legs. He is doing much better but is on 3 new meds. For liver . I had my vet send labs over because I just had surgery myself and not driving much.. my most complaints are my appt. Was 9am and was told all day that will be called shortly and ended picking Chance up at 7pm with me calling to see how long, a couple of times. And Dr. Chand being concerned about blood work of regular vet spent 1,400. For the visit with meds. Was not expecting that... But Chance is doing better and very grateful for that. Gotta say it was a bit confusing what was going on all those hours, guess Mondays are very busy days for them....

Do not go here. In the beginning of our time here we really liked them. But as years went on they went down hill fast. The front desk is always rude and never helpful. There is always new vet techs every single time we go. I do not think there was a same vet tech in years! Whenever our dog was sick they NEVER called back to give an update on test results. The one vet was deathly scared of cats. You could tell that he was not an animal person at all. Never really loved on the animals just was there to “diagnose” them. When our most recent puppy was neutered, we picked her up and she had blood all over her face because they said she “had to have teeth pulled” while she was being neutered. I’m sure that was just for extra money since they had us on the puppy plan that didn’t cover that. I talked to many people with bad experiences here and after many years I’m glad we finally left and took our animals that we love so much, to a different vet that truly cares for animals and has had the same employees the entire time we’ve been there for over a year now.I am not one to complain about things but I felt like this is something that needs to be said to warn others about our experience. Especially since many people are moving to the area. Please do not even contact me about them New Market Animal Hospital.
