Walked my dog in to Vet without an appointment. They took us right away because we had an emergency. It was close to closing time they still didn’t care. They were wonderful. Professional super sweet very caring loving. Would recommend to anyone. They took great care of my dog and fixed her up. Thank you so much you are amazing

Amazing staff, open schedule, and being very safe during covid. We unfortunately had to work with them with our very old and ill rabbit, and they were incredible. Sympathetic and helpful during her illness, and wonderful when handling her cremation and paw print when she died.

I took two of my pets to Patuxent Valley Animal Hospital within a week of each other, and I couldn't have been happier with the treatment. Dr. Wiest is clearly a very experienced vet who assessed each situation calmly and took the time to explain exactly what was happening, as well as explaining other situations that could come up with our pets. Additionally, all of the staff is friendly and helpful, whether it's getting an appointment, working out an emergency, or filling out prescriptions. Everything is done in a timely manner, and it's very easy to get appointments. I will definitely continue bringing my pets to Patuxent Valley Animal Hospital, and I highly recommend everyone else do the same.

Have been taking our two birds here for years and had wonderful experiences. Dr. Wiest saved our parakeet, who was very sick, and was able to see her same-day and get her the treatment she needed. I will always be grateful to this vet! Also, very affordable compared to other local Avian vets.

Can I give a negative review? I don't really understand everyone's love for Dr. Wiest. I didn't know better and took a referral from a former colleague that had an internship in his office. Anyway, onto why I rated the way I did .. I took my old cat here for quite some time and eventually he developed knots in his intestines that went unseen. Despite knowing something was wrong, the vet didn't "detect" anything in the "normal checkup." The knotting led him to vomit and be unable to eat his food. I took him to another vet .. and they found the knot.. and they found Lymphoma. Every time I would come here the vet would just do the simple vitals, didn't have well bedside manner with his client's human, and it was just like going in and paying someone to poke and prod and say nothing is wrong without actually diagnosing anything. As a result of the negligence, my previous cat had to have emergency surgery, and be put on a special diet. He later passed away from Lymphoma, and suffered severe weight loss from the intestinal knotting (vomiting his food). I would avoid this vet.

Everyone here is very pleasant: from the staff to the vet. I very much like the way they handle the animals, the appointments are always on time and I feel like their prices are extremely fair.

I'm always seen on time and everyone has been kind and patient with my pets. Love it.

My dove swallowed a small 81 aspirin yesterday and began throwing up a lot. I frantically called ASPCA but they wanted to charge before they pointed me in the right direction. I decided to call this hospital because of the good reviews and they took the time to give me advice before I came in. Other places wouldn't do that. I took the advice and my dove got a lot better the next day. I'm so relieved. I will definitely make this hospital my go to next time a problem arises!

We have been taking our dogs here for 30 years. Dr Weiss and the staff are great.

Dr. Wiest has been wonderful with our 16 year old dog. He has given us great advice. He and his staff are very compassionate and loving with our dog.

My Oscar had an ear infection. Vet and assistant were awesome, attentive and caring. Also, a lot less expensive than the other vet I had previously gone to. Patuxent now has 2 new customers!

They then are that for about 20 years and still I would not go to anyone else they're fantastic

I''ve been going to Dr. Wiest for the past six years for my hedgehogs. He's a wonderful vet, very attentive, informative, and never hesitant to ask the opinions of others when he's not certain. Service is nearly always prompt, and he answers all questions I have. I couldn't hope for a better vet to partner with for my hedgehog rescue.
