Former employee here. Owner of this place cares about profit over pups. Won't allow any bedding, too much laundry, cant be bothered.Picture shivering elderly dogs in a dark cold room with no heating in the winter. Dogs are miserable. Poor management, rude owner. Edit: Iwas not terminated, I found a place that treats employees much better and so decided to leave Blue. You literally suggested that I quit my schooling to work more hours with you, twice. Maybe try seeing employees as real people rather than as servants? I'm sorry you are a small struggling business, but I have more empathy for the dogs you mistreat than your profit. I don't like leaving a negative review up, but why won't you let the dogs have blankets? It's just cruel.

My dog Bucky always comes home from being groomed clean and happy. He is an Australian Shepherd and his coat is soft and free of mattes. They do a wonderful job of grooming. If I’m running late he’s able to go to doggie daycare and play for awhile.

I warmly recommend Blue Dog Boarding and Daycare. My son’s 5 year old rescue moved from Florida to Silver Spring, and his territoriality issues and clinginess ramped up to a sad degree. His weekly trip to Blue Dog has been transformative – he is better with other dogs, better with separating from us, comes home happy and tired, and my husband and I have a safe place where he is comfortable and can be boarded when we go out of town. Before registering with Blue Dog I had several conversations with staff about their set up, important because in this pandemic no one but staff enters the facility. Most of the building is a large open area divided by fencing that lets the dogs watch each other. The dogs wear paper collars so no one can get snagged or choked. There are no toys to fight over, but some climbing structures. The dogs are segregated generally by size, with a small area where a dog can go who wants to watch the other dogs but not be near them. You can get the doggy cam app, and it is a little addictive. You really get a sense of dogs as pack animals. If staff enters an area with a mop, most of the dogs run to the fence to watch, some get so excited they run in circles. Others are offended by the lack of attention and turn away in a huff. Focusing on the grooming side of blue dog - can't say enough about the excellent grooming that our dog (and until recently, dogs) receive here. Our dog is a challenging breed but they always do a great job of capturing her peculiar grooming requirements. it's also great that as a general rule, the pets are only there for a few hours as opposed to all day which they appreciate and we do as well. Their current groomer is excellent and we are happy to return there and support.

I love Blue Dog Boarding and have been a client since 2014 with 3 different dogs. We recently had our newest puppy stay for the first time over Christmas. During all of our stays, Blue Dog Boarding was responsive to our needs and reliable. Blue Dog has been especially helpful in providing accommodations during our abrupt change of plans. I appreciated their drop off service as I didn’t need to leave my car during drop off/ pick ups. My only concern is that Ada came back with a very strong “kennel” odor during her stay and had some dried feces on her fur. But it was nothing a nice warm bath at home couldn’t resolve. Update for clarity: Clients are able to schedule and pay for an exit bath as an additional service. But I was mostly referring to the overall condition my puppy was sent home. I wasn’t sure if the dried feces was hers or not and didn’t know I was carrying it home. If so, then I wonder what happened for her to have dried feces on her. Probably just better if I didn’t see it. Not a complaint but certainly a valid observation that I hope is taken into kind consideration.

We have been sending our lab, Penny, to Blue Dog daycare twice a week since she was 16 weeks old. She gets so excited when she sees where we are going or of we ask her if she wants to "go see her friends." The staff is always so courteous and helpful, and is always accommodating if we have a last minute request. The hours are also great for my husband and I as we transition back to work in D.C. and need to change our schedule for drop offs and pick ups.

I boarded my cat for the first time at blue dog boarding. She stayed for 6 days and I picked her up today. The owner Janette, and the team Celeste & Madeline were all super kind and caring. Helping me from the minute I called to book, dropping off, and when I called to check on my kitty. Excellent service and highly recommended, we’ll definitely book here again!

This place is great!!! First time boarding our dog so we were a little anxious but all concern was eased when they provided daily pictures of her activities. When we picked her up there were no signs of anxiety at all...just tail wags. Thank you so much and we'll be seeing you guys again.

Have taken my dog to Blue Dog for daycare and boarding over the past 13 years... I like the separate areas per size or age for the dogs; different levels of boarding depending on your dog's needs or your finances. My dog always comes home happy and tired!

My AmStaff, Snoopy, is a handful. He absolutely loves Blue Dog. He gets crazy excited in the car when we turn the corner on to Howard Avenue and he runs right for the door when they come out to greet us. He always comes home happy and exhausted. Micki and Celia (hope I spelled your names right!) are incredibly sweet and helpful. We will continue to send our baby for daycare every week. And the one night we needed to board him, he got a wonderful bath and nail clipping. Thank you!

I don’t know what they are doing but each time my dog goes to daycare and I pick him up he smells awful. The place is conveniently close to my house, ,the staff is very nice, and they take great care of my dog, but I cannot take having to bathe him after each visit.

Great place for dog boarding and daycare! They offer a wide variety of boarding services for all dog types (quiet, active, and hyper active). Prices are very affordable and location is convenient. They are quick to respond on communications and offer an online portal for all your needs. As a first time customer Blue Dog will be my go-to when it comes to dog boarding.

Blue Dog boarding is the best place for my pup when I travel. The staff is great, experienced and friendly. They know my dog and always give him a great greeting when he comes in and make him feel at home. He goes gladly to play with the other dogs. Blue Dog is Vinnie"s home away from home.
