I love these folks. Went to adopt a kitty on a Saturday and they were so busy. Despite the many people there looking to adopt pets, all of the staff maintained an amazing composure under the stress of trying to accommodate so many potential fur baby parents. I adopted a beautiful bonded pair of kitties. Look at them!!!!

We went to the Connelly Road location to look for a dog. Upon our arrival we were asked what we were doing there. We explained we were looking for a dog to adopt. Then a older lady said they didn't have any dogs just cats. BUT, we heard dogs parking in the back through the door. The lady was so rude and mean. I walked away heart broken.

I could never say enough good things about the wonderful people who work at the Harford County Humane Society. The thankless work that they do goes unnoticed by many, and underappreciated by most. They don't only show up every day to make a difference, but they genuinely care about the animals at the shelter, and it shows. They are very selective about who can adopt, and I personally think that's a great thing. Too many animals end up at the Humane Society because people have pets and underestimate the commitment, money, time, and patience that it takes to have a bond or successful relationship with a pet. Pets are family and are forever, and should be treated that way. My husband and I adopted an extremely intelligent and loving cat from HCHS and he has enriched our lives more than we could ever have imagined. He was just a scrawny, underweight former stray, callled "Gilbert" by the shelter staff. Since adopting him 11 months ago, "Ziggy" has gained almost 4 pounds. He is harness and leash trained, travels in a pet backpack, went to Fenwick Island Beach, in June, and we are currently planning a trip to Myrtle Beach, SC this fall. Don't ever underestimate a "shelter cat." The animals at HCHS are loved, cared for, and given the necessary medical treatment to get them on their way to finding a forever home. The amazing people at HCHS are true everyday heroes. Thank you for all that you do for animals and the people who love them.

I drove all the way over to this "Humane Society" and found the door locked at 4:10 pm on Wednesday. Upon ringing the doorbell, an older lady came put to "greet me." As she stood in the doorway, I asked if they were open. She replied with yes, then said, "what are you looking for?" A dog to be exact, but she said I needed to go online and fill out a form. She said it was because of COVID. She was not pleasant or courteaous. What an unbelievable sense of control these people have! I remember walking thru and looking at the animals. What happen to this previously awesome location? Now they are run by overzealous cantankerous old ladies power hungry with a sense of being "do-gooders" for the animals. Is there some kind of medical Fauci evidence proving that a walk thru of a "Humane Society" will infect animals whether the person is vaccinated or not? Please don't patronize us that you are volunteering because you want to help the animals. It's all about the control for people like you. The animals lose out.

Wonderful staff and a very clean place. We went to meet a pup, Dewy & Goober, and the staff suggested another one based on our lifestyle; Boomer, it was love at first tail wag :) . How anyone could give up this sweet and silly boy is beyond me but im so happy he is apart of our family now. The staff listened to what we were looking for to make sure it was a perfect fit and wow, what an awesome addition to our family! It was a longer wait because of their staffing situation ( ya know, covid) but trust me, it's worth it. Thank you again Ladies for all that you do!

I came to adopt an older cat and was VERY impressed at how clean and loved the cats were. No rush and they were allowing me to take my time and meet many. I had my eye on another cat from a different shelter that I chose but would highly recommend this shelter to look for your next friend.

The staff are friendly and very informative. We are looking to add a second rescue dog to our family and this is a great place to use as a resource. They have a lot of cats too. I highly recommend them for all your pet needs. Adopt Don't Shop! Rescue is the best Breed!

The Sheriff’s Office Of Harford County Told Me This Place Has My Doberman Pinscher Puppy. I Have Been Trying To Retrieve Her Since Friday, July 9th 2021 And They Do Not Respond To Left Voicemails Or Calls. I’ve Called The Police To File A Complaint As I Feel Now That They Are Trying To Ignore Me And Keep Her. Her Picture Is Listed Below. Update**** They Have Responded The Puppy Is In Good Health && I Shall Be Collecting Her.

Just dropped off leftover unopened dog food. My little 13 yo bichapoo mix passed away January '21.

I had the most amazing time today adopting my dog Cora. The staff were all wonderful and very helpful. They truly want to fit you with the right dog. They take very good care of the animals and it's a very nice shelter. We couldn't be happier with our new baby. We absolutely love her. She already knew how to sit, stay, lay and give kisses. We will spoil this doggy for the rest of her life. Thank you for all the kindness you gave me. We couldn't have found a better place to adopt. Laura & Jim

If you're looking for an animal then look no further. They are absolutely fantastic! The cat's the dogs are great, and well taken care of. You will love going to this place to pick out a cat or dog to adopt. Very reasonable adoption prices. Very clean very easy to find. Give it a try if you're looking for a new cat or dog. They may have other animals other than cats or dogs, but you'd have to go onto their site to find out about anything else when it comes to other animals.

They are the ABSOLUTE best! My little Yorkie got taken here after being lost in my neighborhood overnight. They took him in and took VERY GOOD care of him while we were apart. They are patient and kind to not just the animals but to us people too! ???? I appreciate them for helping me reconnect with my lost furbaby. ????

I'm the maintenance manager here, I tell my friends I take care of the building for the awesome care givers and the hairy kids. I know times are tough but please donate to the Humane Society of Harford County. Thank you!

Absolutely worst staff I’ve ever been in contact with before. Most unprofessional and unlawful volunteer organization I have ever witnessed in my life. Go to any other Humane Society other than the Harford county location. Not sure how this staff get away with the things they do here.

Staff Extremely Helpful And Kind

It was the nicest cleanest shelter I've ever seen. I've corrected my review 2 days after my visit. I decided to adopt a dog named Jack. I filled out the application and was approved. I was told I couldn't even meet and greet him until Monday, but Monday is a holiday so it had to be tuesday morning. I find out today that they are adopting him out. I did everything right but due to their error I lost this dog to another person. They offered no apologies for the cost I incurred or the difficulty they caused us. I would not reccomend getting any animals here.

I only wanted peaches to go home he was out doing his thing & whatever happened the skid so get him that shoulder device & newer tags please god bless take care of her just a pleasant memory 4 me
