Patapsco Valley Veterinary Hospital Ellicott City, Maryland

We moved to Maryland in 2019 and literally as we were unloading the moving truck our dog injured herself and tore off a toenail. Awful timing. We called around to several places with no luck, but Patapsco Valley Vet Hospital agreed to see her later that day. They examined her, cleaned, bandaged, and we left with a doggie pain killer and antibiotic that day. The staff was so helpful and kind with our scared pup. I don't know what these services would cost elsewhere, but the price seemed very reasonable to us (I believe $86 for everything, don't quote me on that). We've since had her seen for annual physicals as well as two more sick visits visits and been extremely pleased with the vets as well as staff every time. We had an emergency room visit elsewhere when the office was closed and got a call from the staff the next day because they were notified of the visit and wanted to make sure she was recovering. Highly recommend this team.

For the past times I've taken my dog here, it has been great and our vet was good too. However, although I understand that because of COVID it has been hard, it took around 10 minutes for someone to answer the phone to let us in for our appointment. I assume this is due to so many other people calling at the same time, as the line was busy for a while and I saw a couple other people outside for curbside pickup or something. Which is would have been no biggie ; however, because of this, when someone finally answered, they said that we had to reschedule, since by the time they answered, our 15 minute appt slot was almost up. So, we basically just wasted all our time. I totally understand that because of COVID everything is much harder, especially when you're working in this kind of field, but an apology would probably have been nice. 3 stars is more towards that person I talked to that day, but 4 stars for the rest of the staff who have always been kind to us.

Awesome vet DVM Russell is amazing and informative. She's very busy but manages to squeeze or requests in. I worked for many vets from Eastern shoe to Howard county and hands down she's one of the best

Very friendly and good without dog. Was timely and considerate of cost and what needed to be done now and what could wait. Very pleased to call them our new Vet.

Have been a client there all my life pretty much. They have taken great care of my family pet when I was younger and now they take excellent care of my dog. Would highly recommend them and their staff. They show that they truly do care about the health of my pet. My pet and I have always felt like part of the family and I always feel like they treat my dog as if it were their own.

Sorry for the mixed review :/ Brought our dogs for annual checkups for a few years with decent experiences. Then had one visit go very badly with a near-miss that nearly harmed one of our dogs. The next day, we were able to speak openly with Dr. Russell on the phone and dissect the operational issues that led to the near-miss, so that their operations can be adjusted to prevent future issues. While we're not sure if we'll return, we still very much appreciate their willingness to better themselves and their practice and partner with their clientele for the best outcomes for our pups.

We have been going to Dr. Huson for the last 15 years. We started going to her, because my wife's parents always took their dogs to her. Dr. Huson in particular has always been great, and the practice has always been beyond helpful in their willingness to accommodate us. We could always tell they cared, and it was obvious they ALWAYS put our pet before profit. Today, I wish I could give more than five stars, because Dr. Huson saved my best friend's life! My buddy Gilbert ate something he should not have, and a pet ER misdiagnosed him. Patapsco worked to arrange an ultrasound for Gilbert, and once Patapsco Valley properly diagnosed the problem, Dr. Huson and her techs closed up shop to stay late and do surgery on my buddy! Because Patapsco is not equipped for overnight post-surgical care, we had to transfer him to an ER for overnight observation. As if Dr. Huson's general love and care for our dogs was not enough, the ER vet literally said the surgical work done on Gilbert was the best she had ever seen. Dr. Huson saved my best friend's life!

I've been a client for many years now and have felt my dogs and cat are very well taken care of here. The few times I've had a problem that needed to be addressed in a timely manner, I felt the staff and doctors bent over backward to get me in. It doesn't hurt that this practice is more reasonably priced than the practice I decided to discontinue going to after 10 years of rising prices and declining service. I like both doctors; they have very very different bed-side manners, so if one doesn't click with you, I urge you to try the other.

Would not recommend ,extremely disappointed with the quality of service. I felt like my fur baby and I did not matter only our payment. Not responsive

We use Dr. Russell as our go to very for local fosters. The office is very accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly.

Everyone here is wonderful. The vet techs are friendly & efficient. Dr. Huson & Dr. Russell are more than veterinarians; they are kind human beings who see more than just a pet. My Mocha came in all the time because of skin problems, but the techs & veterinarians never gave up on me or Mocha. Everyone was so empathetic & helpful. Thank you so much for taking care of me & Mocha.
