My trainer was Tammy, she did a phenomenal job! I felt like She gave me a whole new dog! Kody was a bit wild and jumped or barked, every time his environment change at all. Now, he is calm and he listens no matter what’s going on at that moment. I didn’t like walking him because he yanked his leash really bad! Now he walks next to me unless he is given permission to wander a bit! I don’t regret it and it was worth every penny! Thanks Tammy for all your hard work you put into my baby boy! I would definitely recommend the center and definitely this specific trainer????

My experience has been amazing. Off Leash K9 Training, Wilmington (Jan Morgan) taught me along with my Golden Doodle how to connect with each other. I'm so proud of Sylvie she is a well mannered, well behaved, confident dog now.

We are so happy with our decision to take our 1 year old golden retriever, Culver, to training here! Our trainer was Timmy and was great with us and the dog; Culver was always so excited to see him and got so much love. We can now have Culver off leash and he does amazing sticking around and playing long scale fetch. He also has completely stopped jumping on people. 10/10 would recommend this facility!

We are blown away by the progress we have seen in our dog Mason! Our trainer Amy was so knowledgeable and kind. She made us feel comfortable and empowered during each class. We used to feel very frustrated and discouraged whenever we would take our dog for a walk or expose him to a group setting. After 6 private classes and 2 group classes, we feel completely comfortable bringing our dog around other dogs. Amy has changed our lives and Mason’s life too!

I think they gave us the wrong dog back...Soji is not the same dog we dropped off for training November 7th...his obedience is now phenomenal. He no longer jumps on people when they enter my home, he heels on command and comes to us when called and is off-leash. Soji automatically waits until we leave out the door and stays sitting until called. The Christmas Tree, in which I was dreading, was a breeze in getting him to not have destructive behavior on. I finally got my granddaughters on board and now he is no longer a terror with them. I just want to give a special thanks to Tammy, Soji's trainer, for her phenomenal handling of Soji and his stubbornness ("The Stinker") she called him. I just want to say thank you Off Leash K9 Training for giving us a better life with with Soji. Happy Holidays! Sheila Washington

My 10 month old Lab/Shepherd mix Dexter just completed the 2 week board and train. Yes, it costs a lot, but just 2 days after picking him up I'm already very impressed with the results. I was really nervous about leaving him with a stranger for 2 weeks. I work from home so Dexter and I are basically together 24/7, and I had a lot of reservations about handing him over. However, after about a minute with his trainer, Tammy, all my reservations were put to rest. She has such a great energy and I knew instantly that Dexter would be in great hands, and he seemed to take a shine to her before I even left the building. Tammy was excellent about uploading photos and videos of Dexter every day so I could check in and get an idea of his progress. I looked forward all day to her uploads! Upon pickup, Tammy spent a lot of time with me explaining the collar and going over all the commands Dexter learned. I did not feel at all rushed, and she patiently answered all of my questions. Now that we're home I'm already noticing an improvement not only in Dexter's ability/willingness to follow commands, but his overall behavior and presence is much calmer and more well-mannered. I can tell that it will take a lot of continued reinforcement now that we're home, but Tammy at Off Leash K9 Training Maryland laid such a great foundation that it's really all about reinforcement (as opposed to actually having to teach anything). A huge thanks to Tammy and the team at OLK!

We got a COVID puppy that didn't have much chance to socialize with other dogs or people. OFL was great in helping us train him.

Thor loved his two week board and train with Alex! We are so impressed with his listening, and have been able to let him off leash for the first time ever after bringing him home. Alex surpassed all of my expectations for what Thor could learn as a stubborn husky. The whole team was so friendly during drop off and pick up, too. They were great about uploading photos and videos almost every day with updates. Highly recommend!!

I cannot say enough great things about Off Leash K9 Training Maryland! From the very beginning I knew this is what we’d been looking for. To start, I received a response to my email inquiry from the owner, Jennifer, within a few hours. I had a wonderful conversation with Jackie, the receptionist, who helped me set up our Basic and Advanced training sessions and assured me we could definitely work on “heel” because Albert was a major leash puller. We also wanted to focus on recall training. We did that and much more with the help of the incredible trainers at OLK9. I also love how the prices were listed up front and there was no up charging for anything (which Jennifer assured me about in our initial email conversation- she did warn me about their retail selection:) We have a few new balls and a cool new leash). The facility is just GORGEOUS. It’s clear time, attention, and practicality all went into the creation and planning of the space. Now to the great stuff! We worked with three trainers: Alex, Amy, and Craig. I love how they all explained everything to my husband and I in a way that was practical and useful. They were all so kind and it is clear everyone at OLK9 LOVES all dogs. All dogs, no matter what the temperament. Albert is a highly excitable 80lb bundle of energy who was not a polite greeter by any means. So, for one lesson we focused on greetings with Alex and the help of Sabrina, one of the receptionists. And I don’t know what magical “Heel” dust Amy sprinkled on him but our walks have totally transformed. I greatly appreciated that the four Beginner lessons cover the same topic, no matter what trainer you have. It made it so nice knowing there was a clear plan in place and that we were able to have different trainers but cover the same program! We had the majority of our lessons with Craig. He is absolutely phenomenal! Before OLK9 my husband was semi-interested in training, but it was mostly me (and Albert of course). From the beginning of our first session, with Craig, he completely transformed. Craig taught us the how, why, when, and so much more about each command and part of the process. He clearly knows so much about what he does and presents it in such a down to earth way. His passion for dog training is inspiring. He was also very complimentary of Albert, and the things we’d taught him so far. It was so empowering! He has guided us through each step of the way and was so quick to respond when I’ve had questions throughout the week. Our expectations were by far exceeded. After each lesson we got into the car and just went on and on about how AMAZING it was and how we couldn’t wait to work on our homework and come back the next week. It only got better with each and every lesson! One of the biggest things my husband said was “I love how they just don’t tell you what you’re doing wrong”- which had been one of our past experiences. This wasn’t our first dog training rodeo but I wish it had been! We just completed our last Advanced lesson and really can’t wait to come back for more. It’s been the highlight of our weekends and has totally transformed our relationship with Albert and our little party of 3. Like I said in the beginning, I can’t say enough great things. The only con is that I didn’t find OLK9 sooner! The results, customer service, and love for dogs are unmatched by anywhere we’ve been before. Thank you all for what you do!

Ranger and both of his parents loved the experience we had! Recommending Puppy Camp classes. I have now a 5-month-old German Shepherd. He was 4 months when he attended Off Leash K9. We worked with JENNY & SHE DID AMAZING !!! She made the experience smoother. If I had questions at pick-up time she answered. (she also explained what was done that day, verbally). Pros: Amazing staff The response was always prompt Report cards detailed Pictures received each time Plus Much more. Con: This experience doesn't apply to me (mom), because I know how to handle my pup. However to others, like my fiancee it applies to him LOL The first 1-on-1 hour session doesn't teach the parents enough, and the group session at the end was detailed. But still not enough time. I believe a huge factor is the parent of the puppy which has to be taught as well. It takes 2. Not my call, but I would recommend maybe doing a daily recap (mock) even 15/30 minutes after a full day of a puppy camp with the parent. That way it gives the parent an idea as to how to react to a certain behavior or continue teaching basic commands at home. Kind of like a refreshment for the parent. ** Pictures are of him now compared to when he attended puppy camp class.

I took my 8 1/2 month old Vizsla, Jelly, to Off-Leash for the 2-week boarding program with trainer Kim. I had a great experience with the entire program. I was very hesitant at first to shell out all that money for training, as most people probably are, but it was worth it! Kim sent me several photos/ videos every day, which made the time spent away from Jelly more bearable. Jelly is a crazy spunky silly girl who literally bounces off the wall at my house. I wanted training that would help me to keep Jelly under control when I needed to, while at the same time not changing her silly and spunky personality. Off-Leash K9/ trainer Kim did just that. Jelly now expertly knows heel, come, sit, extended sit, extended down, off, touch, place and basic manners. Thanks so much for you awesome service!

I am so impressed with their services. My recently rescued dog made so much progress after attending the two week board and train. Her trainer Tammy was phenomenal. The staff is attentive, professional, and genuinely helpful. Prior to seeking their training I could not take my dog for walks at all as she was often afraid and would constantly pull back towards our house. Now she is so much more confident and obeys commands. I love that they also took the time to work with me so that we can continue to build on her skills now that she is done the program. If you are looking for a trainer, I highly recommend that you use OLK9.

We had heard great things about k9 off leash training. When trying to decide which program was best for our 14 month old Schnoodle, the office was very helpful and informative in the process. We decided that the 1 week boarding was the best training for our dog. Kim was wonderful with Ozzie! She would send pictures and videos daily which we loved. The progress he made in just one week is unbelievable. He’s a new dog! Today is day 2 with our puppy being at home and he’s doing great. Kim is quick to respond to all my training questions. Overall we had an excellent experience!

Update: Another fantastic training with Newt. We wanted something different for hiking. The command "with me", Newt walks loose leash in front of us due to the trails being narrow. The command works perfectly! Our new rescue Newt the Tree Walker Coonhound need a lot of help with barking and leash training. We did the board training and it was the best choice we ever made for him! I highly recommend OLK9!

We cannot speak highly enough about Craig of Off Leash K9 Maryland. Craig is absolutely AMAZING and has truly changed my fiancé and I (and both of our dogs) lives for the better. We first went to Craig for the basic package with our lab puppy and were really impressed with how calm, kind, and patient he was. His ability to connect with dogs and people is unmatched. He explained the “why” to us which made things really click. Where Craig’s true talent shone through was with our little rescue terrier, Buddy, who we then sent to him for camp. Buddy had extreme leash reactivity due to previously being attacked by a dog. Craig instilled a level of confidence in him and showed him that the world is a safe and fun place to be. He learned to trust that his humans will keep him safe and he no longer needs to protect himself by barking and lunging at other dogs. We are able to take him everywhere with us, something we could previously not do. Craig kept us updated with photos and videos the whole time. Craig is a dog whisperer and we cannot recommend him enough! Craig thank you for all that you did and continue to do for us and the pups!!!!

Kim did a wonderful job training our puppy. When she went to training she had a hard time with walking on the leash (pulling), recall when distracted, and needed some work on other basic commands. Kim sent us daily photos and videos, took amazing care of our pup, and got back to us quickly when we had questions. When we picked her up we immediately could tell she made a big difference. Recall was there, leash walking was a breeze, and she had learned to place, sit, and heel; not to mention door manners. Would definitely recommend.

SENSATIONAL, SENSATIONAL, SENSATIONAL EXPERIENCE!!!! Off Leash K9 Training, 8150 Lark Brown Rd EXCEEDED expectations. If you live in the DC/MD area and you're considering another training company, please reconsider your decision. You will not be disappointed. Craig Martin was phenomenal and is an exceptional trainer, so please ask for Craig if he's available. We brought our 7 mos. old lab mix who had problems with following commands, pulling on the leash, and had a few incidents with getting off the leash and we almost lost him so we really needed some professional help. If you choose Off Leash K9 Training they will deliver on RESULTS!!!! Our dog Max can now consistently follow the commands of place, come, sit, down, lay, and heel. Rest assured if you call your pet they will come back to you. This is one of the best investments I've ever made. The entire Off Leash K9 Training staff is exceptional. Make your appointment today because they get booked extremely fast, that's how good they are on delivering results.

We had the best experience here with our pup. We were turned down at other companies due to the age of our dog but OLK9 was willing to take on the challenge. Not only did this company meet my standards but they exceeded them as well. Craig was so great and nurturing with our dog, we knew that we could trust them! We followed the steps and direction provided throughout the process and our dog succeeded. Couldn’t share enough good things - our family appreciates all of the hard work and the results.

My girl Ada had been exhibiting some friendly-frustrated dog aggression that I wanted to get under control before it became too much to handle or something bad happened. I was recommended to check out OLK9, and I am so grateful that I chose them! We took the 8 week dog aggression classes with dog-trainer Alex and she was amazing in helping teach the basics with the E-collar and instill confidence in my dog and myself. Her patience and guidance really helped me in understanding where my dog's behavior was stemming from and how to best counteract Ada's outbursts. Our last session with Alex was at the end of January. Since then, and a whole lot of work later, I have seen major improvements in Ada's behavior around dogs and other animals that she just wants to say hi to but can't seem to figure out how to do it nicely. Specifically, Ada seemed to react the most aggressively towards little dogs. Recently, we were on a walk when a small frenchie not on a leash ran up to us to say hi. Ada did have a reaction, low growling and warning barks, but I was quickly able to get her attention on me and redirect her attention to walking by my side while the frenchie's owner wrangled her dog in. Before OLK9, she would have been lunging at the leash and snarling at the dog and I would not have been able to regain control of her until the dog was out of sight. Thank you OLK9, and especially Alex!

Was one of the better investments I've ever made. We now have a dog that is trust worthy and fun to take anywhere with us without fear he will act up. Since we picked him up on Feb 6th we work with him daily for at least 30mins; he knows that when the door bell rings he is to place on his pad, when we take him for walks he heels plus checks-in with us to make sure he has correct placement, and comes when calls. We can even play with the cats while he is placed in the living room without him trying to hog all the toys. You can tell he is proud to show off his skills around other dogs; he knows he is a good boy. Devon did a great job with Bueller, plus us, and I can't recommend going through the school enough for anyone that wants to not worry when they take their dog in public this is the course for you. I cannot count the times we have been told how well he listens and good he is. Obviously, he is still a puppy and never lost his personality he just became a better, more mature, dog with a ton of confidence. That said you also need to be willing to work with your fuzzy friend consistently otherwise bad habits will return but as long as you are willing to do that you will be rewarded.

I have only emailed the co founder of the company, Jen, she has been very patient and answered all my questions (just waiting on an email to my most recent question) but overall I am very impressed. Edit: have attended the basic and advance training. Kratos did amazing, Craig tailored all of our lessons to Kratos. Homework was simple since Craig made it easy to practice. Kratos ended up being ahead of each lesson so we were able to work on more.

I brought my Chihuahua mix rescue, Atlas, to OLK9 to help with what I thought was aggression. Atlas barked at everything, bit me a few times, snapped at guests in my home and did not respond to my commands at all. Luckily we were paired with Craig who passionately believes that every dog can be trained and was willing to go above and beyond with Atlas. He was able to see that Atlas was acting out of fear and needed confidence training. The care, patience and enthusiasm that Craig showed towards my little guy was unmatched. Even after the day camp ended, Craig still checks on Atlas’ progress. Atlas responded very positively to Craig’s instruction and is now able to sit, come, place and off on command. Craig provided me with books, numerous instructional videos showing how he was working with Atlas and provided priceless tips on how I should work with him at home. If you are considering having your dog trained, I highly recommend Craig. You will not be disappointed. I will be signing up again to have him work with Atlas on more advanced commands.

Signed up for OB basic and advanced training for Sheena, my 5 month old Presa Canario pup. My trainer, Craig; was very warm towards me and Sheena. He was very knowledgeable and patient in so many ways. I learned a lot in how to build, train and perfect my relationship with Sheena. I definitely recommend Craig and his team.

My 2.5 year old GSD is a wonderful girl. Very high drive and a desire to learn. She has always been very good in the house but, her desire for attention when someone comes home or from other people and dogs on walks was needing to be toned down. Basically she needed to learn some manners lol. While she has been receptive to my training, I am far from a professional and Craig with Off Leash K9 was exactly what we needed. After several conversations with Kathy, we opted for the four day Day Camp. The Sunday before camp started we met with Craig for an introduction/meet and greet. Within a few minutes of talking with Craig and seeing how well Harley took to him, I knew he was perfect. Training officially started Monday. When we picked her up that night, she was a completely different pup. She didn’t jump up on us when we got out of the car, she even jumped into the back of the jeep, up into her crate. Something she’s never done before. Let me tell you Harley came home ate and went straight to bed, she was exhausted. For the next three days when I told her it was time to go to school you could see the excitement in her eyes and the tail wouldn’t stop wagging. She could barely go potty she was in such a rush to get in the car. Every evening at pickup, it was easy to see how much she had improved from the previous day. Thanks Craig for letting me talk your ear off at pickup lol. While we were sad when camp ended, I know for sure we will be working with Craig and Off Leash K9 again soon. Craig built the strong foundation in obedience Harley needed. He also helped give me the tools to improve my amateur training abilities to continue working with Harley. Day Camp was the perfect option for us. Craig absolutely set the bar high for trainers. His love and passion for each and every dog he works with is very obvious. Harley misses getting to spend her days with Craig but, her training at home since day camp ended last Thursday (1/21/2021) has been great. I didn’t seek out a trainer because Harley was a bad dog, I sought out training because I wanted to build her confidence and obedience so she could reach her full potential and live her best life. Thank you Craig and Off Leash K9 for a fantastic experience!

I spent a lot of time researching training facilities and when I came across OLK9 in Jessup and noticed they had a day camp I knew this was the facility for my dog Shelby. He did such a great job with his trainer Craig. Craig is a true animal lover and took so many videos and photos for me to see how Shelby was doing. Craig is a professional and knows how to handle dogs. I highly recommend signing up for the day camp you will not be disappointed and you may even get lucky and get Craig as your trainer!

I purchased the beginner training. The first session went fine, the trainer taught me and my puppy sufficiently. At my second session, the woman trainer I requested based on reviews (Kim), in an attempt to fix the collar on my puppy, she restrained my dog between her knees, overly tightened the collar and traumatized my dog. At one point she was holding him by the collar and restraining him while he was yelping very loudly, I’m thinking it was because the collar had caught his hair and she didn’t notice while she pulled it tighter. When she let him go, I could hear the collar was tightened to the point where I could hear his breathing labored. I had to verbally request she remove the collar (to unrestrict his breathing) and let my dog go. My dog is a 20 lb very friendly Cavapoo puppy. After seeing my reaction, she apologized several times throughout the session. The only thing saving this review from 1-2 stars was that in my 3rd session, I got a new trainer that worked way better with my dog (Devon). Coming into the facility, my dog was obviously traumatized from the previous session (constantly running to sit on my lap or behind my legs and not roaming around curiously as he did before, at one point he was physically shaking) and he was very patient and took good care with training my dog. I preferred his work so much, I requested him as the trainer for my final session (instead of going back to Kim). I will say overall, the training was good and me and my dog were taught good skills to address the frustrations I had with him.

Updated: I wanted to update my review for transparency. I was contacted by Off Leash for an additional training to review what was taught during camp and it made all the difference. Our trainer, Jeny was great, gave me lots of information and situations where certain commands were to be used. This additional training or review is what I was missing to bring it all together. Thank you, Off Leash for your commitment to customer satisfaction and more importantly to the pups. Original review: My puppy just finished her 3 day puppy camp. I'm a bit torn because I liked the staff, report cards and pictures however, I didn't get information on the training being done specifically the "how to" I would've liked to know how she was being taught so I could continue at home. Most pick-ups were hectic with very little interaction with the trainer other than "she did good today, please look out for the report card and pictures" I guess if I'd known I would've opted for the regular puppy obedience classes instead. Or maybe the emphasis should be more on your puppy is learning socialization more than anything else. I am signed up for obedience classes at another trainer to learn more of what was lacking here.

I cannot recommend this place enough. I sent my 7 month old german shepherd, Sebby there. He did the 5 day training with Craig. My biggest concern going in was Sebby having issues on walks when he saw other dogs. Craig made it his primary mission to find the best way to allow Sebby and I to go on walks without angry neighbors and dog owners glaring at Seb and I. Sebby learned quickly and picked up everything, he was super excited to see Craig everyday which made me feel better because of my hesitancy to leave my dog with anyone. Craig was fantastic with Seb in every aspect I saw and helped me immensely to learn how to combat the issues on walks. There was a huge difference in Seb after and gave him a lot of freedom back we had lost before.

We sent our fear/leash-reactive 9mo German Shepherd to OLK9MD for the day camp with Craig. It was chaos trying to walk her on the leash and our positive reinforcement technique was not working. Our friend had a good experience with the 1-week board and train program for his German Shepherd so I figured we'd give it a shot. To be honest, it all felt 'too good to be true' at first and I was very nervous about the promises Craig made about what was possible in 4 days. But boy was I wrong. Not only did Craig's professionalism and expertise put me at ease quickly, but he uploaded over 80 photos and videos in those 4 days that showed me exactly what he was doing with our pup and how she was progressing. He was responsive and diligent in making sure any questions or concerns we had were resolved and spent ample time with us at pick-up each day reviewing what she learned and giving us specific instructions on how to practice at home. On the last day, we met at Lake Elkhorn in Columbia for our final 1-1 training and let me tell you, I have never felt so stress-free and proud to walk my dog. She was confident, happy, no longer anxious about the people and dogs walking around her and best of all, she listened to all of her commands! We've been walking her and training her outside around distractions several times a day now and she is a solid 9/10 every time, compared to her previous average 5/10. If you are worried about what you get for the price, don't. As long as you're willing to put in the effort after training has concluded, it is well-worth the freedom and happiness the training will give you and your dog.
