I cannot say enough good things about this practice - if I could give them 10 stars, I would. My dog had TPLO surgery on both knees (second surgery almost a year ago) and the entire process was flawless. From the initial visit to the surgery itself to post-surgical care - everything just went perfectly. Dr. Walesby is a very skilled surgeon and has a pleasant bed-side manner. The front desk staff is friendly and always ready to help, the nurses are knowledgeable and instructions for post-op were easy to follow. When I had questions during the recovery period (which is long) they were always answered promptly. The facility itself is modern and clean. Thank you, Dr. Walesby and MVSS team.

I forgot to mention in my other review that my dog also broke his leg in her facility.Have you noticed how defensive her remarks are when someone writes a negative review of her expertise? I can assure you that none of my comments are slanderous as all accounts are accurate.This has been an expensive and very emotional time since April for me and my poor little dog.At least I learned, before more complications occurred. I have gone to another veterinarian now who is fabulous. I guess I have learned that you can't depend on the 5 star ratings all the time.BTW, since April, I have talked to her perhaps 3 times on the phone, but imo just to chastise me and insinuate that I hurt my dog.Anyone who knows me knows that was not the case. Her comments to me were hurtful and served no purpose.Oh, she fired me as a client, but frankly I was not going back to her to even finish up the first broken leg. I imagine that she does good work with horses and big dogs. From what I have read that was her specialty before being credentialed to work on small animals. At the very beginning she essentially questioned my mental capacity. There is so much more to this story. It has been a nightmare. As my dear mother used to say, "you get what you pay for..

I was so nervous about my pups surgery and after meeting everyone there I felt at ease!! Dr Walesby and her staff took such good care of him!! Highly recommend this practice!! Clean friendly and honest and not out to make a $ she honestly cares about her patients and there Moms!!! My baby can breathe again!!! Thank you all so much for this amazing experience!!!

Pretty good specially in the situation I was in I don't want to go in the whole lot of detail about but they were able to evaluate my dog without me having to bring him the hour plus trip cuz imma see him and determine it they wouldn't be able to remove the tumor from him whereas everyone else was telling me it would be almost two months before they would even look at him to even possibly schedule removal

My sweet girl had her first TPLO done at MVSS in the beginning of 2021, we went back in October of 2021 for her other leg. The entire staff here has been nothing but amazing, helpful and understanding both times. If we ever need any surgeries in the future, MVSS will be my first option!

Very Caring Personal. They Actually care about Your Pets and not the Money. The Doctor and Staff gave detailed Care instructions before and after Geronimos surgery. They continue to Call in and check on Him. Highly recommended!!!

Great place that took care of my dog in his time of need.

This place is amazing. This is my second dog that had to have TPLO surgery and the team here is the best. Dr. Walesby is great and I will go here no matter how far I have to drive. There was a surgery place closer but the way I felt about this place and the care my dog gets I will drive the extra 40 minutes.

Dr. Walesby handled my fur baby bilateral tplo surgery several years ago she was so absolutely amazing that when my baby Sophie past away, I immediately thought of her and the staff in making donations of harnesses and such. What an absolutely amazing doctor and practice she has... I am forever grateful for the extra years she gave me with my baby!

What am amazing, kind, patient, and knowledgeable vet. She helped treat my dog, who had extreme anxiety, slowly to find the root of his problem. There whole staff was so caring. One of the vet techs even sat on the floor with my dog overnight just petting him to let him feel more at ease. If I could give 10 stars I would.

I can't say enough about how amazing Dr. Walesby and her staff are. Dr. Walesby performed TPLO surgery on my boston Beans and did a remarkable job. The office staff was friendly and a pleasure to deal with and treated Beans like a king, even hand feeding him when he decided to show his stubborn side. Beans's tiny chicken wing of a leg is now strong as can be and you can't even tell which leg he had the operation on. I am so happy I found Dr. Walesby and I can't thank her enough!

There just isn't enough words to express how wonderful Dr. Walesby is. She is the most kind, thoughtful and caring surgical Vet that I have ever encountered. Our Norman Ray had to have TPLO surgery on his right back leg in January. Just 7 short weeks later his left back leg gave away and once again he had to have another TPLO surgery. When his left leg gave out, I contacted Dr. Walesby and she operated on him the same day. The point is that she was more worried about our Norman being in pain then the fact that another surgery would put her working a 20+ hour day. You just can't find that kind of care and compassion anymore. We are so grateful to her for not only her amazing skills but also for her most appreciated and genuine bedside manner. I can not recommend Dr. Walesby enough!!! If you need a surgeon for your fur baby, you need to place your loved one into her care. You'll be lucky to have her in your corner. God Bless!

I cannot recommend Dr. Walesby and the other amazing people at Maryland Veterinary Surgical Services enough! My Maggie had been having a lot of issues with her ear and had a mass which had completely covered her ear canal. It had been bothering her for a while and I could tell she wasn't happy due to her constant panting and her head being so warm. I had originally taken her to another service and right away I didn't care for the surgeon since he seemed more interested in hearing himself talk rather than listen to my concerns and answering my questions. I was turned off immediately and then when I heard him say the cost, I could not believe it. It's more than "unfortunate" when it seems as though someone is trying to take advantage of a pet lovers emotions and that thought came to mind a number of times during that long conversation of himself talking non-stop. Now to the good, no the GREAT, and that is Dr. Walesby! She never seemed rushed with Maggie and I during our first visit and I never felt that she was trying to get out of the room to get to her next appointment. She took her time to explain everything and answer all of my questions. I had already made my decision in the first couple minutes of our conversation and had already expected a hefty cost according to the last surgeon's quote. I was blown away with how much cheaper she was and had to ask twice since I was sure I had mis-heard or that the fees didn't include overnight fees or anesthesia. It was all included which also included that very first visit. I nervously took Maggie back about a week later for the procedure, but once again, everyone at MVSS put me at ease and Dr. Walesby said she's done hundreds of these and it wouldn't be a problem. She even called me on Saturday night to check up on Maggie and to see if I had any additional questions or concerns. She's am amazing Vet and an amazing person all around. If you are reading this, you are looking for a surgeon or a second opinion. Stop reading this review right now and schedule an appointment. You'll be happy you did and your furry best-friend will be much happier as well. Maggie and I thank you so very much, Dr. Walesby and everyone at MVSS. You've made both Maggie and I so happy and we owe it all to you.

Don’t take your dog anywhere else! Dr. Walesby has operated on both of my dog’s knees with superb results. She explains the procedure and answers all your questions with patience. She and her entire staff are very compassionate and know that this procedure can be very traumatic for us humans, not so much for the dogs! When my dog started limping on his other leg after the first procedure, I knew that he needed to go in to get his other knee repaired. I called after hours and Dr. Walesby texted me right away to assure me that her office would call me on Monday. By Wednesday of that week, my dog had surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Walesby and was referred by my sister-in-law who was referred by numerous other people. This is definitely the place you want to go if your dog needs surgery.

Went above and beyond what was expected

Exceptional experience!! I brought my 11 yo Cocker Spaniel, Fitz, home today after having his L TPLO at MDVSS. I have experienced a few of these surgeries over the years with other dogs. By far, this is the best experience I have had. I have tremendous confidence in recommending Dr Walesby, MDVSS! From the moment I called to schedule his surgery, I have felt confident that I made the best decision to go to Dr. Walesby. She is incredibly competent, kind, genuine and warm. Her approach to surgery and recovery keeps the patient’s comfort and success number 1. Her staff is professional, kind and helpful and the entire process is welcoming, streamlined and very cost competitive. The inclusive price for his surgery was clear from the beginning with no “gotchas” when it came time to pay. Not only is the entire staff excellent, Dr Walesby has designed an incredibly thoughtful and efficient, state of the art surgical center. I felt complete peace of mind that I had left my Fitz in the most caring and capable hands. We are looking forward to a smooth and successful recovery.

I've never experienced a better doctor and staff (people or pet) in my life than Dr. Walesby and team at MVSS! My dog had to have two surgeries in 3 weeks and I'm so thankful she was able to get these done here. The staff is always so pleasant, kind, understanding, and clearly they LOVE animals. Dr. Walesby is such a pleasure as well. She takes the time needed to explain exactly what she is doing, how she will do it, and the time it will take. She also personally calls the night of the surgery to let you know how it went! Overall, great experiences!

This place is the worse. They wanted me to pay them 3200. to start care for my pup and when I decided to take my pup somewhere more affordable. They call animal services making false claims.... Awful...

The staff and service were very good. My dog needed a TPLO. She received excellent care and I saved a few thousand dollars.
