This was a very last minute arrangement due to a family emergency. We’d never been here before and I appreciated whoever answered the phones help with getting the needed approval from our vet that they had the required shots. We needed to get the flu shot in addition (which I think is ridiculous because I’ve never heard of a dog getting the flu) and they said that’d be $40 for each dog, at the end I saw it was double that because the “exam fee” was another $40 for each dog as well. I also purchased the bath and was told to call with when we planned to pick them up because they wash them an hour before hand which I did. They were obviously bathed, but it does not appear that my dogs ears were cleaned and the nails looked untouched. Will be sticking with Rivermist Pet Lodge from now on.

My grandma puppies go here. I was so sad when I was told the puppies had to go here. No puppies for DC day trip. Then I went to pick them up. they were so happy. They played. Made friends.Got a bath and were so engaged all day. I was so excited for my shy girl. She was so happy and had to say bye to all her friends. The Frenchies we're so impressed with the attention, they always deserve. the staff is so much fun. I was glad they get to go somewhere to be safe and have a good time. Even if with grandma is a spoiled special puppies place. I am not worried when they get to go to day camp. So relieved such great places are out there. Thanks for the doggie love.

I am absolutely angry! We left our dog here for a week. He was completely neglected he was almost 50 pounds and now is 47 pounds. He lost 3 pounds because of neglectful workers not feeding him. All the food that we brought there was still there. Along with all of his cookies. This should not be happening. And the manager Said that he could’ve lost weight because of his playtime. Which is completely rubbish because he only had 3 1/2 days of play. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not feed the dogs. Dogs came back with bruises and scratches all over them. The owner either doesn’t care or encourages the behavior. DO NOT!!!!!!!! Send any pet to these monsters

I've left my puppy here several times in the past, and the majority of the visits, it was a struggle to find records of my reservations or payments. I've always felt they were disorganized, but at least they took care of the animal. They will board un-neutered dogs, which is certainly a plus, and the main reason I brought him back. This last visit was inexcusable. I left my 10 month old puppy there for a week. They didn't give him any of the treats I had left (including ones to help him with anxiety), and they didn't feed him literally half of the food I packed. Over one week, he lost three pounds. This is beyond negligent! I won't be bringing my dog here again.

I’m not happy with the treatment of my puppy because she first came home with cut paws from the turf they have dogs playing in. I just picked her up for boarding and they did not say anything about her condition. When I got home, I saw that one of her toes was dislocated which I guess is why they have me sign a waiver form. They were willing to work with me around safe options for her to rest up and heal along with medicine options as I go back to work.

I'm extremely disappointed with their training program. The trainer seemed unqualified and after 2 weeks, my dog came home exhausted and at an unhealthy weight. None of the issues we discussed with the trainer were corrected and she picked up more bad habits than she came in with. After going to another trainer, I was told that I was ripped off bringing her here. I can't speak for their daycare but I would not recommend their boarding or training programs.

Picked up my uncles dog Monday. Utterly disappointed and heart broken at the condition of the dog. I work in the vet industry (in the ER) and would never tolerate any of the animals in my care going home looking this way. I am taking him today for another vet visit today to get another evaluation be shaved properly and have a full medicated bath. I am fully aware he stayed for an extended amount of time and was very stressed, his owner is in the hospital. I am fully aware hot spots are common and I’m fully aware they are treatable, I treat them everyday!!!!!! But this is unacceptable. I hate leaving any negative reviews but this dog has been through enough. Please please please everyone always be aware and advocate for your fur babies

My dog went in healthy and came home skinny lost a ridiculous amount of weight, was very sick. We called and talked to them and they were nasty about it denied everything. Very rude people especially the lawyer Barry when we tried to explain what happened he cut us off was yelling at us saying we were not cooperating even though he didn’t let us speak after he cut us off also said we could not prove to it after only a day and a half of having our animal and had taken him to the vet. Don’t take your Animals there after my experience and speaking with a few past employees I understand that there only about money and will not treat your animals properly! My boy is scared ! Not acting like his happy normal sweet self! He growls at everyone and runs to his crate now ! These people are horrible to deal with! PICK A DIFFERENT FACILITY!

Looks clean and the front desk ladies are friendly. My Boston didn't seem to nervous just protective of us. Gave her lots of leash to explore while I did paperwork and presented my Groupon.

My dog absolutely loves this place. He prefers a private room with a view of the comings and goings. It’s very convenient having a vet right there as well. So it works for the both of us.

My dog Barley loves it here! Plus the staff is super friendly and drop off / pickup is a breeze. It’s a big plus that they have a vet connected to the building so if you need shots or anything, daycare dogs get a discount.

What an awesome place to keep your dog. The place is loaded with activities to keep your furry loved one hooked - at least all the dogs I saw seemed so excited they were dragging their owners panting up the walkway to get inside! Lol. There is not a lot of parking, but off To the side there is other parking for residences and business that can be used. The place is doggie clean, ample heated rooms, and luxury rooms with tv and couches. There also USA doggie gym, large pool/spa and splash/cool-off mini pools, play area by dog size and grooming salon. It is also wonderful that in addition all those amenities, they have a veterinary hospital on premises. Dogs are allowed for visits only with recent vaccinations and good health history. On you first visit, they give a FREE day where pers are evaluated for sociability skills. After which they are given a report of their day! Oh, and I almost forgot, staff is friendly, gives treats to pets. If you need pet training, it’s there for a few. They have various pet sitting, fees/plans for fun times, pet sitting and overnights. Grooming deals on Fridays, and dress up deals for dogs on some holidays. I love it, and so would every owner of a fur ball. Prices are fair market value, workers treat the dogs like family, and overall it is just a welcome place for doggie. Come check out their services yourself in person or Facebook where they upload pictures of your dog daily. (See below for my German Shepherd’s first day.) It’s definitely worth it.

We were taking a long-weekend flight out of BWI and found Downtown Dog online for boarding our 44 lb 2-y.o dog that we adopted back in Jan 2021. I called several times with questions prior to our boarding and everyone I spoke to on the phone was super helpful, courteous, and very reassuring -- especially Fawn, Jimmy, and Tom. You can tell this is a local small business and that the employees care and are involved in the day-to-day; this isn't one of those big-box franchise machines. We boarded our pup for 4 days of daycare and 3 nights. Fawn helped coordinate everything we needed (paperwork and payment) ahead of time so we could have very expeditious & flawless check-in process (we had a flight to catch!). When we walked up Fawn knew exactly who our pup was before we even said a word, we felt like VIP's! We were very happy with the treatment she received while she was there, how great the staff was to us as nervous new dog parents, and our dog came home to us happy and tired. The rates were affordable, there are a bunch of add-on options. The daily pictures to the FB page were the highlight of our time away when we caught glimpses of our happy puppy playing with the other dogs and having a good time -- it was visible reassurance she was happy, not in distress being away from us, and being taken care. Anytime we fly out of BWI we would board there again!

This was Milo's first time for boarding and doggie day care. DDR&S was great. Very responsive and professional. Milo spent four nights boarding and also attended day care. When we brought him home, he was absolutely beat. Thank you for taking good care of our pup. He will be back!!
