Couldn't get an appointment for my sick cat anywhere, all these practices have their rules, all booked solid for weeks, not Academy. Very grateful for their prompt and thorough care of my fur child.

Dr. Lewis saved my cat's life at 3 yrs old - now 14, he's still doing fantastic. I had taken him to 2 previous hospitals which were exorbitantly expensive and did not fix his blockage problem (1 hospital suggested he may have to be put to sleep, the 2nd one wanted to do a Perineal Urethrostomy- and I almost let them do it, thank god I took him Dr. Lewis instead! Cannot imagine how that procedure would've brought down his quality of life, disfiguring him when it was not necessary..!!) My cat recovered quickly and amazingly after Dr. Lewis treated him! It truly felt miraculous and I'm thankful to Academy Animal Hospital literally every day for saving my cat 11 yrs ago.

My dog was worst off when she came out than when she went in. Don't recommend anyone take their animal there. Very expensive for not providing any quality care for your pet.

I called in advance and asked them when they were accepting new patients. The front desk gave me the date and told me to come in NO APPOINTMENT. I got there on Said date and called them to let them know we were new patients and we were outside. The individual who answered the phone said that they were NOT seeing new patients buy to come to the door and fill out some paperwork. She also sounded as if I were bothering her. After completing the paperwork.... they had me outside waiting for a good 45 mins. So I left. About 30 mins after I got back home I received a call ( much friendlier this time) asking me if I was still outside. I just wasn't expecting this level of..... confusion. It didn't seem like the staff was on the same page. I found a different Vet. 3 stars because at least they answered the phone and called me back after I left.

The staff are very friendly and professional pertaining to the exam, shots and updated information of our beloved (soldier/dog). The Academy Animal Hospital staff are trusted professionals and are our extended family when it comes to the care of our beloved pet. Whether urgent or non-urgent. I Highly recommend this Animal Hospital to all who have a pet dog,cat or any other pet.

My dog went in three tone color came out a completely different dog. Your typical groom is a trim, my dog went through a complete SHAVE. The only thing I got from the office was sorry you didn’t like the haircut. The groomer doesn’t come back in for a while. Never going back.

DO NOT BRING YOUR FLUFFY FRIENDS HERE!!! This place is so careless and not to mention unprofessional. The grooming service we received was far from five stars. My dog got sick two days after his visit and no one had answers. When asked to speak with a manager I was ignored and dismissed. For an establishment based on customer service this place definitely missed the mark! You’re better off going to Pet Smart!

Dr. Lewis and his team gave their very best to help my beloved pet. Although it can be a bit of a wait time, the care and compassion we received was the very best. I'm grateful for their services and will visit them again.

Too start my neighbor recommend this vet. & I took my 5 month old Doberman pup in for a new patient visit for his booster shot. I was offered the rabies shot for my dog & heart worm medicine all together …I left paying about 120$. The staff we very friendly and helpful by making recommending HOWEVER, they didn’t even actually give my pup what I thought he needed. So now I have to make another unnecessary trip to the vet for the 4th booster shot so when I was told originally that the dog only needs 3. I think the vet maybe with some shady business in my opinion. Also, when I called I was told that all new patient don’t have to make an appointment and were seen on a walk-in basis so this time even tho we were a walk-in(by curbside). I think we spend about 1.5 -2 hours there (between the wait and getting seen)which was long …looking for new vet recommendations!

Took my dog there they told me it would cost a 1000. Dollars she was sick. They said they had to keep her that’s how sick she was. I had no ideal they closed at 7 pm and would not be back till the next day at seven. My baby had never been away from me ever. The next morning when i found out she was left alone for 12 hours I was livid.if she was so sick why was she not monitored? I paid a lot of money. The day I went up they told me it would cost 185. More dollars to put her to sleep. I wanted to be home with her. It took all I had not to Flipp out. My sweet terrified dog died the minute we got home in our arms.. this little girl should have been put down the morning before. I would never use this place again.

I took my dog here to get a sedative prior to taking him to Barks and Bubbles and I was told by the staff that I should bring him there since they do grooming services as well as can sedate him. I explained to them he gets really stressed and agitated when grooming. They assured me they were equipped to handle him. So I did and they did a very very bad job at grooming him. His hair is completely uneven on his coat and head. They didn’t take the time to shape his face. There are patches of hair all over him that are some low spots and and high spots. It looks terrible. At this point I can’t do anything about it because he gets so stressed with grooming I can’t put him through the process again so soon. I would not recommend taking your dog here to be groomed.

Prepare to have your time wasted.... They don't take appointments, so you have to just show up and hope there aren't 20 other people waiting. Spoiler alert: there are *always* 20 other people waiting. (I tried calling other vets and they're all booked for weeks, so the line isn't necessarily because they're a good vet.) Anyway, I pull into the parking lot a little further away from the front door because it was the closest space - and because there is a very clear "No Stopping" sign on Belair Rd right at the entrance to their lot. I call the front desk, per their policy, and was immediately put on hold for over 15 minutes. When I finally got to talk to someone, I told them what I was there for and gave them the color of my car and was told someone would be right out. Another 15 minutes pass while I watch them continue to take in animals, that arrived after me, who were able to pull into a closer spot, disobeyed the "no stopping" sign, or ignored the policy and got out of their vehicles with their pets. Very frustrated at this point, I called back and let them know I would be leaving because of the wait. They made no effort to try to get me to stay - didn't offer to come out - nothing. Just said "next time call ahead to see if we're busy," as if there'll be a next time.
