A LONG 2 week process , just to get told the animal you like is no longer available… I also think the application process for some isn’t the same as others, a few days or a week for some . My 2 week mark is today and I’ve checked the site repeatedly, all the cats I wanted were gone ! So that many ppl had apps in before me ? I don’t think so . Even when you go up there you don’t sign in so they don’t know who is who looking at cats. I visited my dream kitten twice in one week , but it’s not like they knew me or cared so how could they make the best decision???? I like BARCS better the facility is nice, you actually sign in so they know potential adopters coming , oh and your application is only valid after visiting you actually have to meet them . SPCA of arundel just looks at how big your home is , don’t care if you visit the animal or nun . I would never try adopting here again !! Sad for the animals but true 0 STARS

People there are very rude I went there to try to adopt a dog for a family dog for me and my kids and most everyone there was rude there was one young man that was thinking not rude. He was the nicest person there but he had either just gotten out of high school or was still in high school in volunteering I honestly don't tell He was just very young that's all I know. I applied for a dog hair and did not get approved for some reason there's so many dogs there and we wanted a specific dog they told me that I did not qualify for that dog because I did not have experience with that dog breed. He was a great Dane which I did have experience with a great Dane I've had two of them in my lifetime. It's just at first I did not think I would be able to get a hold of the vet records because it had been so long ago and My dogs had passed. I don't know what kind of experience they were looking for except for the fact that they told me you had to have great dane experience and fence backyard and I had both of those. Didn't make sense to me at all. Very frustrating and upsetting hopefully we will find a furry friend to join our family soon. I just thought that if we went to a rescue place it would be better than going to a breeder but at this point in time after the experience I had I don't know that that's the case. I guess I can look into other rescue places that's what I may do.

I recently visited this facility after doing some extensive online research, looking for a NO KILL shelter. The manager was very pleasant and empathetic towards my concerns. Each time I called with a question or concern, I was contacted back, by the manager, within a couple of hours and any question I had was answered with patience and my mind put at ease. On the day I pulled up, I saw the dogs being walked and tended to and although it was a balmy 21°, the handlers appeared to genuinely be animal lovers and enjoy what they were doing. The person I dealt with in intake, reassured me multiple times my pet would be in good hands and I could tell there was authenticity in what he said. This place also came highly recommended, from the animal clinic I take my other pets to, which aided me in making a good sound decision. *Side note: This place, even with Google maps, is a little tricky to locate, if you are not familiar with the area.

SPCA: Sadistic People Caging Animals. These people are incredibley unresponsive. You fill out applications and hear nothing back. They also DO NOT adopt animals to young people, military or those living in apartments. Know numerous people personally who have tried to adopt animals here and get the cold shoulder. Do you know what those people who arent able to adopt do? They go out and buy dogs from breeders. Shame on these people, they are always filled with animals so why is it so difficult to adopt from then? A "no-kill" shelter they call it, but because they take in animals from kill shelters then make it incredibly difficult to adopt, they are an extension of the kill shelter. Every animal they dont adopt out (which is a lot since they are always fill) is another animal at a kill shelter that gets put down.

Still waiting for a response about adoption, but gave 4 stars because I respect what the team does for the dogs!

I volunteer here absolutely love the people and of course the animals. All you need for your pet or even if you need a pet you can get it here. You can donate your old sheets and towels. Cat and dog food you may not need anymore is always needed. Plus if you can schedule spays and neuter for your existing pets for a great price.

Love the SPCA in Annapolis... I went there to give a donation and saw a cat that I really liked. There was also a really nice dog outside getting exercise. The Staff there is always very helpful and friendly. Everything there looked very clean and the animals looked taken care of.

I'm very happy to have chosen the spay/neuter clinic at the SPCA they took very good car of my baby and did a thorough exam with all the vaccinations and recommended follow up medications. I will certainly be back for my dogs boosters during the next vaccine clinic.

Updated my review after experiencing the adoption process...its awful and drawn out and you get your heart set on an animal and finally will hear back 2 weeks later someone else was approved for the adoption. I understand wanting to make sure the animals find a safe and good home but so many need homes and are just sitting there waiting to be adopted while these people take all the time in the world. 2 stars instead of 1 because i do think the animals are treated well so i'll give the extra star for that.

We put an application in for a certain dog and were told to bring our handicapped child in the next day, to see how the dog reacted to his wheelchair. We did, but "our" dog had already been adopted! It's not easy to get our son out, so we would have appreciated a phone call. Go here if you want a pit bull, they have plenty. If a non- pit comes in there's tons of competition and a very mysterious application process. It's way stressful and they seem to want to adopt to people who are runners over normal people. We did adopt a very lovely kitten from here and love her very much, but for our next dog, we'll be going to a breeder.

I submitted an application more than 2 months ago and never heard back from the shelter. We called the shelter several times over the past month to ask about the application process and they just told us that they were still processing but could not provide us an estimation on when we can hear back from them.

A very clean, no-kill shelter staffed by like-minded professionals and a cadre of trained volunteers helping animals to find their forever homes. We have adopted dogs here three times and highly recommend this shelter. It’s our favorite place to donate our time and money.

Incredibly friendly staff! I adopted a cat from this location a few weeks ago and they made the process as smooth as possible. It does take a week or two to adopt an animal, but that's just because they want to make sure every home is the right one.

We had a wonderful experience with the manager, the volunteers, and all of the staff that assisted us in meeting several of their adorable dogs. We found our sweet doggo here back in February and couldn’t be happier with the care and professionalism of this organization. Thank you for everything you do for all of these sweet souls!

Very rude!!! Wouldn't even let us look at a dog after traveling almost two hours. Guess they really don't want these dogs to get a forever home. Wont consider this place ever again. Well in response to your reply....why was there a couple ALLOWED TO VISIT WITH NO SCHEDULED VISIT. I dont buy your reasoning. My statement stands!!!!

DO not take your pets here for a neutere/spay! I set the appointment, waited 2 months took the morning off of work drive 45 minutes after doing all the paper work online and get there. One staff comes out (bright red hair covered in tattoos and very pleasant. goes back in comes back out says she cant find us in the system. another lady comes out (older lady long hair looks like and ant from handmaids tale) and stands at my passenger car door- doesn't speak to stands there. I say please come to this side so you can hand me the paperwork so my cat doesn't get out the car. i have two kittens with me one in a carrier the other on a leach (but can squeeze out of it) . she rolls her eyes and walks back in side comes back out with a box (my kittens share a huge carrier). Then walks over basically pushing the box in my driver window and says "we might can get them in".. I did not even feel safe let alone to leave my cats here to be made to feel safe. I have taken all my animals there and will not ever again! What great service that was....to someone who can defend them selves can't imagine how she treats your pets.

Staff was friendly and nice. one was willing to show one of their favorite cats but ultimately said we needed several appointments, one for each cat. Walked away disappointed that we couldn't even meet a senior who had been there for over a year.

Wife and I adopted two working cats from SPCA of Anne Arundel County about a year ago. The prices was easy, the cats are exactly as advertised. Both are excellent mouse and mole killers, they love being outside, great selection of animals.

Dropped off some donation supplies. By law, they're not permitted to take open food containers or used dishes, but they do take nearly everything else.

Very caring people at the spay and neuter clinic. They did a wonderful job with my little dog at a great price too. I will be returning here for shots for both of the pets. Also, try to include a donation with your vet services if you can.

Y’all scream adopt don’t shop but when good people try y’all send them through the ringer. I see why people would rather go to a store or a breeder because y’all have so may stipulations on what you need to have wether your renting or owning then you still make us pay it’s not like the dog is free. I’ve filled out several applications for multiple puppies and have not been picked for any of them. I’d rather just buy one from the store way less hassle!
