We found Hayfield under the unfortunate circumstance of having to put our old girl down. During a pandemic, they made sure we were able to be with her in her final minutes and sent a sweet card with her ashes that contained her sweet nose print. Since, we've taken our dogs nowhere else. We love that the staff listens to us about our concerns, sometimes even offering advice over the phone before asking us to come in. They really are a gem location!

They are very attentive and caring for all our fur babies. Been coming here for years and never have had a complaint. I wish I could list all the fantastic employees that always go above and beyond for us even during covid.

This place was great 12 months ago, and then quickly went down hill. I have a laundry list of poor service, but here are my main 3. First, you cannot get through to them without calling a half dozen times. If you don’t allow people inside and they have to call when they arrive, plus people calling for other services, maybe train your reception to answer and put people on hold. Second, Dr. Segal was fantastic, then she suddenly left ( along with 3 other vets I was told) and now I think they are way understaffed or the remaining vets do not know what is going on. My German Shepard was “recommended” to be put on a senior diet. He is 1…. He literally looks like a puppy, probably because he is. So any trust in medical treatments quickly evaporates when you can’t tell a puppy from a senior, not to mention the paper they have about the dogs info where I imagine it has the age. Lastly, we had an emergency today and really needed a vet quickly. After an apparent phone diagnosis, even though the info given was by someone currently going through a traumatic experience, we were told that they don’t have any room to see another animal, and either way they don’t have the proper treatment there. I called back once I heard this was the response, and sure I was angry, but after explaining how at other vets an emergency can be brought in no matter what, and how they have became pretty much useless, I was hung up on. I probably was coming off as rude, but I am explaining how I need help! To be hung up on by a vet office while talking about an emergency is so disgusting that it was almost funny. Side note, go on their website and see where it says if you are having an emergency to call. They just leave out the part about hanging up on you. Just to clarify about how this was an emergency, our pet passed away before we could make it to the emergency vet 30 mins away in Annandale. So, I think it is safe to say we will never spend money here again, and if you stay here or choose to go here I hope you are treated like you would expect to be.

Although the Doctors are great, I would recommend staying away from this hospital since it has a terrible customer service and vet assistant team. They are impatient, unprofessional, rude and really treated you like you were an inconvenience. This was the first place I went to with my new adopted puppy and they would really disregard all of my concerns, they were impersonal and made me concerned of how my puppy was being treated inside during tech visits. I did not feel supported nor cared for in this facility. I would recommend going elsewhere as will I from now on.

This is a great place to take your pet for normal care. Dr. Embree has been amazing! She cared for my cat through the end of her life and my current two cats for years. Unfortunately, this week when one of my cats was facing the end of her life miscommunication in the office had me facing this tough decision at an emergency vet. I found the staff (not the actual Dr.) to be rather uncaring. I will be finding another practice - although if Dr. Embree were to move I would follow her.

Dr. Marciano is fantastic. I appreciate that she answers all of my thousands of (silly) questions thoroughly and honestly. I never feel like I'm being encouraged to do anything just for monetary reasons. It's obvious that she really enjoys what she does and cares about her patients. Their front office staff is also very kind and responsive. I've emailed a couple of times and they always respond really quickly. I'd definitely recommend this vet to anyone in the area.

My Yukon goes here and they take great care of him. I personally love the curbside pick up and drop off, being a mom of 4. The vet calls be during eat visit and explains everything and answers all my questions. I highly recommend them!

This is the first vet I’ve been to in over 20 years that does even seemingly routine care like vaccine administration in a back room, rather than in the exam room with me. They also performed an additional, invasive procedure even after I explicitly did not consent to it. I unfortunately no longer trust them to care for my pets.

I’m. Cece and my Mommy called 2 hrs ago to get a same day appt for a Bordetella vaccine. The lady answering the phone was great, told her to call when we got to the parking lot. I was in and out within 30mins and ready for my boarding in a few days. Love the gentleman who cared for me with the locks. Thanks for such prompt and convenient service. Love Cece

Best Vet in the DMV, I have a 13 year old Miniature Pincher and a 11 months German Pincher. There are no words to describe how much they have cared for my two companions :-)

Honestly they were good at first. For five years they took care of my cat and she was fine. Unfortunately this week I came back to get my dog I got just a couple weeks ago, and she’s limping. She wasn’t like that before, and they said “She was like that before, and we noticed it”. They never told us about this until we called them up about why my dog was limping so much. That’s where we got the “She was like that before”. I have reason to believe they might have dropped my dog while giving her a bath. Now I get that accidents happen, but they NEVER told us about this. With all this i’m sorry to say my cat and dog will not be coming back here.

June 28 2021 One of our two cats unexpectedly started scratching her face. We called Hayfield got advice and took our cat in for a vet visit. She was diagnosed with an ear infection. This vet practice has cared for our two cats for about 10 years. It has boarding as well, which means if your pet is sick or injured they can be cared for. The practice is open until 7 PM and they have Saturday hours. Every vet I have met here spends time with you and your pet. We received good service with our cat in October 2020. The practice adheres to Covid 19 protocols. Pets are picked up from your car. You receive a call from the vet and can discuss your pet's needs with the vet. Your pet is then returned to your car by the vet tech. We received good service in a visit on July 14th as well.

I have been using this vet for 7 years. The staff are very friendly. Due to COVID you’re unable to go into the facility. You have to drive up and call in to the let the staff know they are here. I will add that it has been difficult to get in contact with the staff you may have to call in a couple of times to schedule or even let the staff know you’re there. Other than that their great. They do offer military discount as well which is plus.

We had a great couple of appointments here with Dr. Seigal who let us know our dog has pretty severe displaysia. We were talking about posisbly needing pain meds and surgery. Suddenly I was told Dr. Seigal no longer works there, then when I wrote to get the pain meds we discussed because I could tell my dog was in pain they stopped responding to emails and requests for help. I had to establish care at another vet while my dog was in clear pain just to get the meds/care already discussed in a VERY expensive appointment at Hayfield because they dropped the ball.

Love the distancing procedures implimented to get my pet medications and then emailing receipts. Only wish there was a way to directly upload pictures and chats during appointments.
