Riverside has taken care of both my bunny and now my dog. I can always count on them for loving on my babies and making sure they are healthy and I am informed. I will forever be grateful for the compassion and care when I had to make the difficult decision to let my beloved bunny go. I recommend all pet parents go to Riverside and will continue to do so.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 5 out of 5 STARS‼️ Referred to Dr.Amy Munchausen by Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital in Metairie. ????SYMPTOMS???? Called bcuz my mum’s cockatiel (Angel, Female, 18-20yo) looked like she was egg bound. She was lethargic, back in a corner on the bottom of her cage off+on for a week, etc. ????INITIAL CONTACT via PHONE: Called for next day appt. Explained symptoms, they didn’t have any appts available THAT day; However, they fit use in as an EMERGENCY! ????????So Thankful for their doing that considering Angel’s symptoms+Our own emotional distress. ????IN-OFFICE VISIT: ????WAIT TIME: approx 5-10mins Waiting area clean+tidy w/a Wooden benches along walls & Individual Chairs+ Open Reception Desk Area ????EXAMINATION: Dr.Amy+1 Vet Tech who owns, so is familiar w/Birds Discussed symptoms, Dr. Amy was Friendly/Warm/Sympathetic, and Explained everything as she worked. ????EXAM = Dr. Amy warned us that even removing Angel from her cage she was brought her in, could stress, and be too much for her. We gave permission. Dr.Amy removed Angel from her cage with a reassuring practiced ease. She spoke to Angel as she went. Later, She+Vet Tech were kind enough to show us how to properly hold Angel. Throughout visit, Dr Amy explained everything, and repeatedly empathize that Angel is at the avg max lifespan of her species (not morbidly or doom+gloom, just ensuring we understood that no matter what the issue or treatment she may not make it thru it). We had discussed it ourselves before she ever got sick, so it was not unexpected. ????SERVICES: Exam, X-Ray, Labs, Subcutaneous Fluids, Admin at Home Antibiotics ????FOLLOW-UP Dr.Amy was out the following day, however the next day when she was back in the office, she personally called to check on Angel and give us the lab results. She was concerned about Angel’s kidney numbers. Ideally would like to refer her to LSU for a CT-Scan, etc. But, I explained that was out of our budget. Dr. Amy understood, she also discussed an anti-inflammatory she mentioned during the in-office visit, but with the caveat it might make her decline faster because of her possible kidney issue. I decided to pass for now. Dr.Amy made sure that I/we knew, that even if we could do the CT-Scan or the wanted to do the anti-inflammatory, none of it might not help. she is so old trying to do any treatment, from a CT scan, etc. might be too much even if she were completely healthy bird. I asked & discussed our options, if Angel started to be in distress. Dr.Amy was very sympathetic, and help to alleviate my concerns, assuring me that if that were the case to just bring her in+they would see her immediately to do whatever necessary. Which I greatly appreciated, as no one wants to see their animal companion of 18-20yrs in distress or hurting. We left things at continuing to admin the antibiotics+giving a few drops of Pedialyte in her water so long as she still drinks it (I asked about the pedialyte having read about it online when researching the egg bound issue), and basically “wait and see” ????STATUS: Now Sun after Angel’s Monday appt, she is still lethargic, but no longer on the cage bottom. The antibiotics seem like they may be helping. Although both she and I, get stressed when trying to admin the syringe antibiotics. And, while she doesn’t like being held in a cloth, (so she runs/flees/climbs aup+down bars to get away *sighs*, once caught), she seems to understand that if I can give her the liquid she will be set free asap, and seems to take the liquid quicker+easier than when we both 1st started doing this process. So, we will continue to “wait and see” ????Would take Angel or Any Bird in to Dr.Amy+Staff, they were GREAT! ????LOCATION: Located on St Tammany Prkwy Service Road •Next exit 1-2 miles down from Ext 63 towards Mandeville/Covington Exit on I-12. •Go South towards Causeway. •To Frontage Road Exit •At Stop sign Turn LEFT/Stay in LEFT LANE •Go under overpass to Stop Light •Take RIGHT onto Service Road •Will be on LEFT set back from road in trees, if You get to the Car Sales Lot - You’ve gone too far!

Very unpleasant experience. Will not be coming back EVER. If you are reading this review don’t waste your time here. The staff is very rude and the vets are not honest about what the can and cannot treat but will try to treat it anyway instead of referring somewhere else. Dr. Amy will go ahead with procedures without your okay as well. Heart broken because it cost my dog his life. Took a few years to even write this. I felt like he was treated as an experiment.

Both Dr.Ritch and Dr.Maxwell are amazing veterinarians. I trust 100% with their decisions and recommendations for my fur babies.

Dr. Katie & her assistant Jeff were so compassionate the last few months of our dog's life. They followed up thoroughly after our appointments. If ever I had any questions I could call and speak with Dr. Katie. When the time came for our boy to go, they kindly came to our house to put him down. That meant the world to us. I highly recommend Riverside. When we decide to get a new family animal this is where we will always go.

Wonderful vets and staff. My dogs are treated with professional kindness ! The vets make sure that the animal receives immediate relief and do not run unnecessary tests but will do so if needed. The vet techs are awesome as well.. Very pleased with the entire staff and their concern and flexibility. I would gladly recommend Riverside to my friends.

When my husband and I purchased a ferret for my son, we did not consider that all vets do not treat ferrets. I was told that Riverside Veterinary does - and I was so surprised at how amazing they were. The office team is kind, fast, and efficient. The clinical staff was professional, fun, and made me feel like all of my questions were important. My Great Dane recently was experiencing skin issues (seasonal allergies kill him) and they were willing to accept him as a new patient next day and they were amazing. I will be switching all of animals to this clinic.

We have been using Riverside Vet for over 25 years and have always been impressed by their love and concern for our pets. They are gentle in handling and very thorough in examinations. We truly believe our dogs get the best care possible at Riverside and are very thankful for all the vets and their friendly, patient staff!

I had come from another veterinary clinic and was told I should try Riverside and specifically Dr. Rich from a fellow boxer owner. Let's just say I have a spirited 1 year old female boxer and Dr. Rich knew how to handle her, and was really professional. She wasn't quite do for her annuals and he didnt try to push any other services on me which was a relief. He was upfront, honest, and the best way to describe it is that being in his presence is calming not just to me but to my boxer as well. The staff there was also top notch. With directing us to the waiting room, and to the exam room as well.

I absolutely love Dr. Maxwell and Dr. Rich. They are the most kind and compassionate vets. They give such sound advise and are never too pushy. I highly recommend them to anyone who loves their fur baby.

Dr. Munchausen is an awesome vet. We use her services for all of our reptiles. She is very knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend her for your exotic pet needs.

My bunny was not feeling good and i called all the Vets in the Mandeville and Covington La area, well noone wanted to see my little girl bunny the same day so i took a chance and called Riverside Vet hospital they saw her the same day and the staff was so wonderful, I love how gentle they were with my rabbit I have found my new Veterinary office. This place is more than 10 stars.

I had my first appt at Riverside last week. The doctor was kind and knowledgable. Their staff was friendly and had me in and out in a timely manor. I’m excited to have found our new vet!

I waited years to finally get a dog. It was important for me to find an excellent veterinarian and support team. I was fortunate that this big decision was made so easy for me by having numerous family and friends who had been taking their pets to Riverside for years. My dog is now 12 years old, and I can honestly say I have never had an issue with this terrific group of folks. They are courteous, professional, knowledgeable, accommodating, and empathetic. They have been an integral part in the tremendous happiness I have enjoyed with my dog and I look forward to continued satisfaction with this practice in the future.

EXCELLENT experience! Cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Munchausen and all the staff we encountered! We are new to the area and it was our first visit. It’s the first time our 9 yo Havanese did not tremble and shake through the entire vet appointment! They were so loving, genuine and professional! Dr. Amy listened so carefully, asked questions and explained rationale. I am a RN, but she did not know this. I thought she was spot on regarding her assessment, diagnosis and treatment. She did not try to upsell us on anything like we’ve experienced so much in the past with other vets. Highly recommend RVH and Dr. Amy! <3

The vets and staff at Riverside are super friendly, accommodating, and caring. When I Buckey was sick and eventually had to be euthanized they were very considerate of my feelings and tried everything to make the process easier for me. Amy is a sweetheart who took care of my Buckey as best she could. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because it was so incredibly expensive. I spent close to $500 in vet bills, which I believe is outrageous for a hamster. If it was big dogs or a cat I could understand the price. But I think adjustments should be made in the cost of visits and medicines for tiny animals. I feel like I spent more on my hamster at the vet than I ever have with my cat in the 8 years I've had her. But don't let all this distract you from the fact that overall this is a great vet hospital with awesome staff. To reply to the comment received on my review, I am happy with the services I was provided. I think its a great hospital with excellent staff. I just wish it wasn't as expensive for small animals, who use less resources, less medicine, less time, etc. But overall my experience there (other than being there for saddening reasons) was 4 star worthy and I appreciate all the people who helped me get through that difficult time. I still highly recommend this vet if you need to bring your beloved furbaby somewhere that cares for them properly ❤

Absolutely love everything about this veterinarian hospital from the staff to the atmosphere. They take exceptional care of all 5 of my babies. My cats are groomed perfectly every time. They absolutely adore my dog, Tiny and treat her like family every time she stays there while we’re out of town. My fur-babies like coming here. We could never go anywhere else.
