Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Had a good experience purchasing fish for my aquarium. Had a good conversation with a fellow customer while I was there. Nice inventory.

Fantastic Pet Shop! I stopped in to get a fish after having a few go belly up in my tank. They helped educate me about washing my tank out with soap (don't come at me, rookie mistake) and let me bring my tank in to help ensure my take was safe again before I spent more money on more fish. They then helped me find the perfect fish and plant for my tank size and desires. They never treaded me like I was bothering them with all my questions or as if I was dumb even after I admit my soap mistake. So nice, so helpful, so professional! A huge plus is they are locally owned and family owned. I will never go to a different pet store again!

I have been going to Pet Stop since I was in 3rd grade!! I believe they originally opened in the early 80’s, late 70’s? I remember being SO EXCITED to go there as a kid!! I remember how cool the REPTILE area was- my brother & I would RUN there to see what was new!!! •Pet Stop had ginormous pythons & boa snakes. They were not for sale, but lived in giant, glass, zoo-like display enclosures! They had big branches they climbed in, & a big water tub they liked to go in! I also remember they had an alligator, & visiting him was the highlight of my month!! (Of course, my childhood memories could be WAY different from the reality- maybe the creatures were plastic display animals!!????????). They also had a monkey, named Frankie I believe, as long as I can remember!! (I don’t remember him ever NOT being there!!) He was out a lot, & playing, etc. It is amazing to me that he still is with us- & very active & playing with the staff!!! I DO see that they provide a lot of environmental enrichment, & take good care of him today!! (I didn’t know monkeys LIVED that long!!) ••The HERMIT CRABS are the BEST in the entire KC area, in my opinion!! They are very feisty & healthy- from the Sarasota Research Facility in Florida. (I feel sorry for the Hermies at the big box pet stores!!) •••BIRDS are also the best here- it is GREAT that you get to actually touch & interact with the animals before you decide to add one to your family. (With staff assistance.) I’ve never seen this at any other place, & I frequent most stores all the time- at least 1 a day. (Seriously- it’s embarrassing!????) ••••Lots of healthy RABBITS, pet RATS (& feeders), & lots of FUNNY FERRETS!! HAMSTERS, Guinea pigs, pet MICE, & chinchillas & hedgehogs (sometimes)… other small animals- ••••••BUT REPTILES are my specialty, & I STILL get excited to go in & run back to the reptile area & see what is there!! They also have amphibians & lots of FROGS!! •••There are usually TURTLES & tortoises, & sometimes a terrapin or BOX turtle! (Is is becoming harder to find live turtles - I have to see it in person if I am going to buy one!!). ••Also lots of supplies & food- MUCH more variety of brands & harder to find items.) •••Also, lots of freshwater fish, & usually piranhas, crawdads, tadpoles, or salamanders. (Also, there are some hands-on puppies housed there during parts of the day, but I only want the REPTILES!!) PetStop has endured through all these years! (It’s amazing, since my family even owned a business down the street that WE had to retire! There is alot to be said about the way PetStop has adapted, & continues to be a breath of fresh air when dealing with the corporate stores that now smother everyone!!! •••I highly recommend visiting Pet Stop, even if just looking. My kids LOVED going there & seeing the animals when they were little, & we made an entire fun day of it!!????????•••

Clean pet store with a large variety of pets to choose from. I am only giving 2 stars due the puppies being too young to sell. They had several puppies that were barely 8 weeks old. It is recommended puppies and kittens be a minimum of 10-12 weeks old before separation from their mommas. They are obviously supporting breeders that do not follow best practices and recommendations. Separation too early from the momma can increase likelihood of behavioral and separation issues. This sets the puppy and the potential owners up for failure. Shame on you, Pet Stop! Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!!! You can do your part to stop these breeders from this practice by NOT selling them so young. ????

At least some of the puppies come from a puppy mill breeder, do your own research thoroughly before shopping.

Got a bird there that passed away within days of buying it. I didn't know the signs of a sick bird but I'm sure the store did. After researching it it was obvious I bought a sick bird. I thought it was just scared in the corner not making noise at the store. It didn't make any noise the whole way home. It was all fluffed up hiding in the corner. Died a couple days later. Shame on them. I gave them the opportunist to make it right and they couldn't care less. Update: the last time i was there i had to show them a bearded dragon that had clearly been suffering and dieing. They only said ok like it was nothing and went to grab it out. I haven't been back since ????

The monkey is so cute. The employees are a little rough around the edges at first but I get why, they get allot of business from people everyday & are just doing they're jobs.

I love the vibe of this store but have had no success with any purchases. Every single fish I have purchased here has died within 1 week. The staff are great and even exchanged fish after testing my water, but their fish just don't make it in my tanks. No issues with fish from anywhere else.

ZERO STARS! Came in to get food for my dog and to my dismay quickly saw the puppies and kittens in cages. This place is HORRIBLE. I wish I took photos but you can blatantly see it in their stores. The puppies are $1400+, but live in horrible conditions. They stay in tiny, dirty, wire floor crates with a single stuffed animal (some have none), no room to even walk around and aren't even given a water bowl. They have to drink from a HAMSTER WATER BOTTLE, and many were empty. They should not be allowed to have dogs or kittens at least and they have a monkey caged that they keep for entertaining purposes. Animal abuse. I wish an animal shelter would rescue these poor animals???? When asked why they live this way, employees didn’t seem to care. I left with no purchases and sick to my stomach.

I always love going in to see the animals and spend my money supporting local businesses when at all possible. The staff are super nice and knowledgeably helpful. The guy with the long hair that waited on me seemed to be a bit self important ????????

Dylan was amazing! My boyfriend and I spoke to him for over an hour about corn snakes and ball pythons. He advised me not to get a certain snake and explained the legality of it to me! He’s a lifesaver. Needless to say, we left with a corn snake and a ball python and will be returning for future purchases!

This place sells sick animals and has extremely inhumane bird handling and care practices..they have birds in tiny enclosures allow anyone to handle them. They sold me a sick bird, and then when I went back in to discuss it I saw them THROWING a 12 week old clipped bird in the air and watching it fall/flap the ground to "wear it out" so it would stop biting and calm down on the hand. Do not go here.
