we have been clients of Starch Animal Hospital for many years, with our own pets and many rescue dogs, they have always been there for us in emergency's and well beings pet care.

I so appreciated the staff finding an early appointment time. We got exactly the treatment our pup needed! So thorough & caring!

I have been going to Starch for almost 30 years, they took care of my childhood dog and now as an adult my own family's dog. They have always been reliable, caring, compassionate when faced with tough medical decisions, and responsive. I wouldn't trust my dog with anyone else.

Called starch first thing in the morning after holding my sick rabbit to my chest all night and said I was desperate. They got ahold of Dr. Takes who agreed to see her right away. I got there, an immediate x ray showed GI stasis, and I knew it was dire. They did everything they could but I lost my little girl a few hours later after 5 years of a happy life with me. I am forever thankful for the staff for treating her and my grieving self with dignity, and accepting her in their care when no one else in Des Moines would. I wish there were 24 hour emergency vets that could see rabbits, but Starch is the next best thing. Pragmatically, the cost for her critical care was very reasonable. I wish human healthcare was that cheap. They aren't usually busy, and the staff is very hardworking. I'll come back here if I ever decide to adopt again.

We love Dr. Takes, she has taken care of our guinea pigs for the past couple years. Sadly we lost one of our girls and she was so genuine and compassionate. We will continue to take our girls there.

I have gone through a number of checkups, surgeries, and 2 pet deaths. Everytime the staff has been amazing. So professional and caring. At this point, if I would have a bad experience I would chalk it up to a bad day, not a bad place.

Since Dr. Henning left Starch has gone downhill quickly. We will never go there again! They were rude and uncaring. We had been using their services for over 10 years.

Took our dog to get teeth checked and cleaned. Much more affordable than other pet hospitals, and they do a great job.

I wouldn't trust anyone else to take care of my dog.

I was seeking a second opinion after two visits to my vet and they ran test and has given me the results I was looking for and medication and my dog is doing great!

I took my Labrador to get neutered and all the staff was friendly and even though he was a lot to handle everyone worked together to get the job done. Staff is really nice and friendly and one of the girls even took time to recommended me a good trainer for him. When I dropped him off I was not worried at all. His recovery was flawless. Thank you all so much.
